And Coach Lussier's son-in-law coaches at Baylor. I'm going to come down from the east Tenn. hills and watch this one. Plus visit with some good friends.
Wow I did not know Lussier's kid coached at Baylor. My mind is blown
-
I like FR over Baylor, who (baylor) has struggled with Nashville teams this year, except JP2
-
1 - Ensworth
2 - MBA
3 - Father Ryan
-
Good write up.
Division two football would be a lot more interesting if Ensworth didn't have a monopoly over wins
-
Father Ryan was significantly smaller than MBA, the Red ran all over the Irish
-
2 things that never make any sense to me these days:
1) All teams make playoffs regardless of reg. season record
2) Ensworth
-
Game of the year for D2 football.
Go Red
-
I think any MBA, BA, MUS, Baylor fan will agree -
Ensworth is a totally different animal. Much better than any D2 team. Any.
-
Is this a joke?? To even think Father Ryan could come close to getting to the championship much less beat ensoworth is just funny. Ensoworth wins by 28 and lets off the gas. Ryan looses in the first round of the playoffs yet again this year.
I hope they dont get too loose!!!!!

While I'll agree that most public schools cannot match the privates' academic resources, I don't think private schools are worth the money. I went to Baylor for one year and then to Northside Junior High and City High, when they were at their worst. I consider myself a product of public education, and I think I turned out okay. I went to UTC on an academic scholarship and worked my way through medical school. No expensive private high schools or colleges. My kids started at private schools because I could afford it, but I soon realized that it wasn't worth the money, and they weren't very happy. I moved them back to public schools, where they were exposed more to the real world, and they were much happier. All three are now attending college on academic scholarships.
Parents who depend on the school to make their children succeed academically are lazy. I succeeded because of the work ethic and expectations instilled upon me by my mom and dad. My children are doing the same. If these parents put half the effort into academics that they put into athletics, their kids could probably excell academically even at a failing public school. Their kids would have a better chance of getting an academic scholarship to college than an athletic one, and they would be better prepared for life.
Random question and off topic. But for you as a medicinal professional (since you said you went to UTC and did medicine), what do you think of Obamacare and its impact on the healthcare industry?
I just like asking and learning...

Will Ensworth be any good with Elder next year, anyway?
-
Stories around town is that Ensworth will leave D2 football to become and independent and traveling team, similar to Trinity of KY. Ensworth would travel the South and play high ranking opponents against some of the best teams out there.
I am not sure if they would still compete in the D2 playoffs.
Has anyone heard about this? I've heard of it from quite a few people.
-
This will be a big game, but I think BA vs Ensworth will be bigger.
Regardless, I gotta go with Ensworth, although MBA will do well.

Waste indeed. Father Ryan just doesnt seem to be the school it once was. In my opinion its gone to heck in a hand basket.
Can't judge schools by their football programs.
What is the status of his contract?
Bruce Lussier has never adapted to D2 football. For 2 seasons his team was loaded with talent and he did well, but didn't adapt quickly to the league's football where other coaches did.

The national decline is mirrored at JP2 and Ryan.
From The National zcatholic Reporter:
How severe is the crisis?
It’s “the largest institutional crisis in centuries, possibly in church history,†says the National Catholic Reporter. Worldwide, the Roman Catholic Church now has 1.1 billion members, compared with 1.5 billion Muslims and 593 million Protestants. In the U.S., all the major denominations have seen their numbers decline in recent years, but the Catholic Church has taken the biggest hit. Since the 1960s, four American-born Catholics have left the church for every one who has converted, according to a 2009 Pew study. In 2008 alone, Catholic membership declined by 400,000. More than 1,000 parishes have closed since 1995, and the number of priests has fallen from about 49,000 to 40,000 during that same period. Some 3,400 Catholic parishes in the U.S. now lack a resident priest. “Catholicism is in decline across America,†says sociologist David Carlin.
True about Catholic decline, but it's safe to say Christianity in America, and around the world, is in decline.
