  1. Green Hornet is just a Hodge hater. He posted in McNairy's thread. Dresden hired a good coach but with what they have lost senior wise and QB wise and with their schedule it could be a really rough season. But Dresden teams have proven people wrong before.
  2. Wow, talk about negativity. I think your kids are going to surprise a few people. The ones of you putting the kids down and the coaches down will soon realize that eventually the tides will turn. I do know this...Coach Hodge, his staff, and team will not be out worked by any team on their schedule. He will play the best players that are there when they are suppose to be there and that work their butts off for those coaches. If the players on the team commit their time and work extremely hard over the next 3 months yall will have a good team this year. It is a shame 9oldschool5 that you have such a bad opinion of the team and coaches. Hopefully if you care about MCHS and their athletics then you will give this change a chance to take its form.
  3. God has his plan for each of us and more often than not it isn't what we think it should be at the time. Chad was meant to go to McNairy Co. for a reason. Only time will tell why things ended up the way they did. He will do what it takes to ensure that his passion on Friday nights is kept positive. I hope you guys have some exciting times down there. Your schedule is a bit tough the first half of the season. How does the team look size, speed, and numbers wise?
  4. I had a friend at the speech he gave and he said when Hodge said I it was most of the time to say how excited he was to be there, how much he appreciated the hospitality, and about his past. GreenHornet you have no idea about this man. He is not a "me" or "I" person. He is a true man that has an absolute ton of passion for kids and their growth...and he just happens to coach football. "Mama and Daddy rah rah guy. Not much more."????? Are you kidding me? Have you seen what he has been a part of in his career? Jealousy creates negativity. I'm not sure where you are from Green Hornet but I'm willing to bet you have been on the end of one of Hodge's butt whippings on a Friday night or two. Cheer up man and stay positive.
  5. I know Chad well enough to know that he will get everyone on board...players, parents, community, administration, coaches. He will give every kid a shot at playing multiple positions and won't give up on kids even when they mess up. There are politics involved in every school. It is how a coach handles those situations is what will matter. I know he is going to help get you guys going.
  6. Great hire McNairy! Get ready for a ton of energy and passion for football and academics. He has an impressive resume and work ethic. Your kids and community will love him.
  7. Are yall hearing any names of candidates for the job?
  8. I could so put you in your place HTV but I'm better than that. I will "Let it Go" as the song goes on the movie "Frozen". Rang will do well...no one believes otherwise. I will keep it positive...except we can't wait to see the Lions in Huntingdon week 10.
  9. Chill dude, didn't say he wasn't cleared of his mistakes or had a bad resume. His resume is a little less than Chad's but a resume isn't everything...just something to look at. Everybody has labels and he has way more good ones than bad ones so no need to defend him. I'm not bashing him. I wish him luck because he will need it.
  10. I hated it for Chad but I guess everyone involved had different plans for all. I know Chad well enough to know that he lands on his feet and will move on to a new project. Your new guy has a bad label on him but he will be fine. You guys have to finish 2nd or better in your district or maybe 3rd place will get you in but if you lose to 2 of the 3 toss up games I mentioned then you won't make the playoffs because at best that will put you at 4-6 which won't cut it. Losing both Keith and Chad at the same time I believe is going to be too big of a loss for you guys.
  11. You guys only have 2 guaranteed wins on your schedule: West Carroll and that private school you play. Y'all could finish anywhere from 2-8 to 6-4. (Loses to Westview, Peabody, Union City, and us are guaranteed). You guys better beat McKenzie or starting 0-3 could definitely cause you to end up 2-8. Gleason, McKenzie, and Bruceton are toss up games based on what you have lost on defense (may just have to outscore them). Your season may truly boil down to your QB staying and/or staying healthy.
  12. Hey Questions, not the best quote ever. Your boy Dubriel doesn't have enough general experience let alone NO coordinator experience. Giving him the head coaching job at Dresden would be like giving a 5 year old the keys to a Corvette.
  13. Like I said, it was extremely nice of your administration to even do an interview with him...the least/most they could do.
  14. Some people believe he applied but doubt he even got an interview since he has no coordinator experience.
  15. But hey, what do I know...I'm just an old man from Huntingdon. It doesn't really matter who applied/interviewed at this point. I'm sure your administration has made up their minds and will let you guys know when they are ready. Good luck...see yall in late October.
  16. It would take me too long to list Chad's credentials as a coach/teacher but I will list one in each category for ya. Unless a coach that has been a coordinator at Maryville or Alcoa the last 10 years has applied, which would never happen, there isn't going to be a guy that has applied that can say he has been to the 2nd round or better of the playoffs as a coordinator/head coach for each of the last 9 years (that is incredible consistency). And one more for ya...Chad has a B.S. in Chemistry and Biology (graduating with high honors) and a Master's in Education (graduating with high honors)...bet ya none of the other candidates can say that either. Oh, I'm sure somebody that has applied has won a ring somewhere but did they "coat-tail" the ring or were they one of the major reasons they won it? We know the answer to that. But let's get to what really, truly matters...Who knows what the players on Dresden's football team need/want most in their lives?...I would say the players and their parents. And according to what has been said on here and what I have heard personally from other people in Dresden, Chad is the one that will coach/teach their boys the best. No need to fix something that isn't broken.
  17. Name calling isn't appropriate but shouldn't just hire anyone. Should hire the best candidate, i.e. best teacher/coach...and there is only one name that fits that title. If they are going to make the right choice and best choice for the kids/program and the future education of the students then Hodge will be named the coach soon.
  18. Hodge brothers have coached against Peabody 4 times and are 4-0 against them. Don't waste your time saying Peabody hasn't had talent either. They are oozing with it every year. And yes my Mustangs ooze with it every year too. And I guess you are saying that all the teams you listed have no talent now and Dresden has all of it. Bologna. But I'm enjoying these different points of view.
  19. Go back to pre-Hodge times and look at how often Dresden beat the following teams: Westview, Peabody, Humboldt, McKenzie, Bruceton, Union City and then compare those teams to when the Hodge brothers coached against them. I bet the records will flip-flop. That comparison is fair.
  20. I understand your argument, but to be honest Dresden was one of the smallest 2A schools in the state the years the Hodge brothers have been there (not one of the biggest or even close) and now they are probably in the top 5 biggest 1A schools. Dresden's classification has never seemed to hurt or help them. It boils down to 2 things: coaching and talent
  21. Diesel, you are right on giving the administration time but 8 weeks is a bit much, but going back to your classification thing, Dresden has been in 2A not 1A every year the Hodge brothers have been there except this past fall. They actually won more playoff games and had more success in 2A so the classification thing isn't a good argument on success.
  22. By the way, putting Coalfield on your little list is a complete waste of time. They play a schedule that Huntingdon's middle school could go 10-0 with and they might play 1 good team in the playoffs each year and always lose that game.
  23. Lol, the Hodge brothers didn't go to a school that was winning already and just win a couple of extra games than the coach's before them. They had to build from the ground up. The Hodge brother's in 2011 went on the road 4 straight weeks (@ McKenzie, @ Humboldt, @ Westwood, @ Adamsville) in the playoffs to get to Cookeville. Find me another team that can say that in your list...not happening. They have beaten Westview which is a school 3 times the size of Dresden 2 of the last 3 years. They have beaten Union City 2 out of the last 3 years. They have beaten Trenton every time they have played them. They have a winning record against McKenzie which hasn't been the same team since they beat them @ McKenzie in the playoffs in 2011. What have you done for me lately can't simply be based on one season. If that was the case then Nick Saban should be fired at Alabama after this past fall.
  24. Dresden was going to the semi's and finals in 2A in 2 of those years. The only team you mentioned in those 5 years that was truly consistent was South Pitt.
