This year’s team was tired of hearing how they weren’t as good as last year’s team and how we were rebuilding.  They reloaded with another gold ball.  
 

Really no need to discuss the how - it was 24-19 when the horn sounded and the West D held when needed.  Great teams just find a way to win.  Congratulations to these players and these coaches for showing how to build a program rather than just a team.  
 

Woulda Coulda Shoulda - but really enjoyed watching the second gold ball rolling down Northshore in the Christmas Parade. 

It was nice seeing that and seeing the players and coaches getting ring sized here soon.

One last thing for all the haters of West on this board and this thread -

We are criticized when we win big or win close because we are supposed to with all this talent.

We are criticized when we lose bc of bad coaching or underachieving with talent.

Recruiting, district lines, oh my.

For once can someone just give credit where credits due?

Agree to an extent. The schedule and record may not be the best next season going into playoffs but until someone in 5A beats West on this side of the state they should be in the 3rd round every year.

As a matter of fact Powell, Oak Ridge and Central are the only three 5A teams since 2019 to beat West. So until that changes - West always has a punchers chance.

Barney you have 2 ol, 3 wr, qb, 2 rb's on offense and 3 dl, 3 lb's, 1 cb and the kicker. 

So 7 starters on offense and 1 backup.

6 starters on defense and 1 backup.

Lots of young talent in the wings but no big game experience...gonna be fun watching that team grow up like this one.

Proud of West for finding another way to win and go back 2 back. Had to replace 16 starters from last year and these kids just would not be denied.

Hats off to Page for fighting till the end. I really thought West was gonna win by a 31 to 14 margin the way the game was going, but they shut West down and changed offense up to score and find success against the West defense.

Nonetheless West won and is the 2023 State Champs!

If you like defense- West and Page is your game. Id be shocked if either team gets to 20.

Agree with this to an extent. If each other played the others schedule would each team still be 13-1?

In any case on Friday regardless of the first 14 games played by either team - its 48 minutes, one game to determine whose better than the other...Hopefully it will be my Rebels!

Have to admit - I thought we would be decent this year - but I probably would not have bet a return to Championship game.  Great work by the players and coaches for getting better each week.  

Honestly would not be surprised if this one came down to who got to 14 based on how both these defenses play.

So proud of my West Rebels for winning tonight and getting a shot at another gold ball after losing 30 seniors as well as having to replace 15 starters from last years team.

They always say you need to be playing your best ball in the playoffs and these guys are doing it, especially now that they are all healthy.

If they can hold on to the ball and continue to create turnovers as well as harrass the opposing Qb next Friday, I do believe West will go back2back with that incredible defense.

Glad many posters are giving this team there due as there were some on here that dogged this team off of scrimmages in the preseason and for losing to Alcoa whose going for their 9th in a row. Honestly go kick rocks.
