The only thing I would change is to eliminate the consolation loser in the District. Give the District winners a bye in the Region. That would eliminate teams losing on purpose in the consolation game. Make that consolation game mean something. Blind draw is the best way to go once they get to state.

Agreed Only 3 teams from district, 2 from region, and 1 from substate. Not a fan of doing away with substate because 2nd place team from one region is often better than a team from the other region. As for the state only fair way is the draw. No way you could get a legitimate seeding for teams from all over the state so the draw is the only fair way. Some years it works out where the concensus "best" teams wind up in the same side of the bracket, as this year, but its fair for everyone this way.If this is truly the case then win the big game early and the rest will take care of its self. The only other way you could do it is set a certain rotation that alternates each year such as number the substate games Region 1 champ's substate game=1 Region 2 =2 ,regardless if both teams from same region win both, then 1vs5 2vs6 and so on then next year 1vs8 2vs7 and so on

How's the team looked?

Talked to the coaches today and were very pleased with the progress they made each day. Kids stepping up and playing hard. One coach said "kids are going to be fine up to us to find their identity and do what they do best." Got some good young talent but lack experience IMO once they get a few games under their belt we should be alrite. Still think defensive backfield and special teams are going to be our biggest question,not sure who playing there yet, but these are the spots that got the fewest reps last season and loosing your kicker is never a good thing.

Gonna be an emotional game for the Lady Eagles...learned last night one of our starters lost a grandparent yesterday...but I suspect the girls will do what they have all year, use it for motivation as they adapt and overcome

I know a little about Summertown. They are hard nosed and will not be afraid to go up against Lake Co. They lost their starting PG earlier in the season to torn ligaments in her ankle, Summer Smith. However, they are still a very good team that plays well as a team. They are also well-coached and will be ready for what Lake Co. throws at them. They have good guard play that should be able to handle Lake Co.'s pressure. This game will be very close and could go either way in my opinion. Probably the best Single A matchup to watch for a neutral observer.

agreed! Not from s'town but seen them several times this year and they have what it takes to win. All 5 starters can score guards are good quick ballhandlers forward IMO is their motor Post is very effective and extremely fast for her size. Dont loose a whole lot when the subs hit the floor. 3-4 subs usually [post,forward and guards] so they dont have alot of holes. Seen several c'ship teams from this area and dont know what the rest have but I've seen lesser teams win the state and better ones not. But I tink they can give any team there all they want

Perry co has the players to go deep this year and if they get up to potential win it all. Do think theyve been in a little bit of a lull through the tourneys with glimpses of their potential showing at times. Put it together for entire game a few times and could hang another banner

If Summertown is allowed to play their physical get in your face harassing defense then they will be hard to beat. Have the athletes to do this the whole game and if they score like they can on top of that then like their chances. If refs are whistle happy theyre in for a fight. Good enough to win it all as I'm sure most of the 8 are but they are very good.

Is the whole team going to be there monday?

Yes they are all suppose to be there monday with the exception of the incoming freshmen. Talked to some of the guys today and they are excited about what some of the new guys have done so far. Get everyone there and should see the intensity pick up,competition breeds improvement! I'm ready for friday

Pretty sure I played against his dad. Those 2nd and 3rd generation District 12 guys are tough! PC has several of them this year.

Doubt it. His dad didnt play at Cwood. His mom did not sure where his dad played but Montgomery is his moms maiden name

1ST full practice monday man I cant wait. Going to be great to see them in pads again. Think you're exactly right we will find out soon enough who has been working! Those who havn't been this should be a wake up call!

Congrats on a good season to the guys from WC. Hate to see it come to an end now, but hey. To the seniors enjoy the rest of your time in school and to the rest this is the start of next season. To the rest of region 6 bring it home boys. 1 Gold Ball already here, Stown girls got a good shot be nice to see it all stay in 6. Time for baseball now lets see what we can do there. A win is a win, but it don't get much uglier than that for WC. Tonite was definitely a trap game for the cats b/c of such an emotional win against PC in the dist finals and plus we're just not the kind of team that can show up and win no matter who we're playin, but it seemed we sure thought that tonight. I don't doubt 18-46 from the free throw line was the correct stat that you mentioned cat1973. I guarantee Shaq would shoot better than that from the free throw line. Hope they get this out of their system and bring it again Tues night.

maybe this was their "down" game and they can get back on a roll. If they play like that vs C'wood might not be able to pull it out.

Spring practice and scrimmage! wow almost time to get back on the field. Lots of spots to be filled and hope the young guys go in motivated to earn them and not thinking I get one because the SRs are gone.Some working really hard some slacking! Dont understand why you would be out there but not work to get better

1 and 2 look about right but still think some darkhorses are going to make some noise next season. We all know the only one that matters is #1 after the 1st weekend in december but polls are fun if we dont take them to serious. Good luck to all

I've always said it that WC is a team that gets hot during tournament play. People can say what they want but don't be surprised to see PC vs WC for the Region Championship as well!

I totally agree with you however this year WC has been up and down so much wouldnt be surprised to see them out after 1st round of region. If they play like they can we will go deep

I don't know if I agree.....I mean coach Keaton did a good job in Middle School but that is middle school not high school. He also coached during some of the best teams to come through WC middle school. He didn't even show up to the hight school practices. I'm not hatin on the guy but I don't think he is high school ready.
