  1. Jeff Lockwood from Knoxville Halls. He throws in the mid to upper 80s, I'm not real sure which, but also has a really good bat. Did I mention that he's left handed. A lot of people know him and probably aren't that fond of him, including me, but he's still a good ball player
  2. Cool marcvols, thanks for the answer. Oh and in my first reply I meant to say that Halls would have to get past Karns first because I'm not a particular fan of predicting things, but it's still fun to hear what everyone predicts. Anyone can get hot at any time, just remember that.
  3. Right on mocs, I haven't seen sharpe with any kind of attitude problem this year. I didn't see the game yesterday so maybe I missed it, but in what I saw in the first Halls game, Whitt wasn't afraid to let everyone know he is good. It's ok to know you're a good player, but after you hit your 3 or your jumpshot and you look down the defender with a nice "smile", that's cockiness. Just a thought!!
  4. I picked Halls over Clinton because for one, Halls isn't going to miss that many free throws like that again. They're a tone better from the line than that. But, every once in a while a game like that pops up. And two, in the first matchup which was an aboslute heart-breaker for Halls, D. Whitt had to hit 2, not 1, but two buzzer beaters during the game to get it to overtime. Apparently, he hit one at the end of the third in this last game. That's ridiculous, but more power to him. He's a great player. Anyway, I don't think Halls can pull it off against Oak Ridge because of their previous games. Granted Halls has been down at the half by only 3 to them in both games this year, but trends against Oak Ridge seem to point to second half letdowns against the Wildcats. Halls has played Clinton real close in both games. There's a difference in my own opinion in playing close and not when playing that third game against a team. Clinton is a lot more vulnerable to Halls than Oak Ridge is and losing a second close game to Clinton makes Halls that much more hungry to beat them. Here's an interesting stat from the first game. According to Knoxpreps.com Halls outrebounded Clinton 69-30 in their first matchup. Now, I don't know if those stats are right, but even if Clinton had 10 more and halls 10 less...it's still 59-40. That's a major gap in rebounding and you'll say, so what, Clinton won. Yeah, you're right, but rebounding can break a team. Kpreps also has Halls down for 45 rebounds in last nights game. It doesn't have Clinton's stats in there yet, but still, 45 rebounds in a game is a ton, neverless 69. And of course, that 69 could be a typo, but I was at that game and Halls did clear the boards all night in that first one. In both games combined, Cody May has had 35 rebounds against the Dragons. For you all to effectively stop him, You'd have to put in the Vandy signee, but that takes away from your offense and everyone knows he can't hit a free-throw, so why not foul him if he gets the ball when he's in the game. I'd almost say it would be tempting to play a triangle and 2 against Clinton to have someone on Whitt and Dye all the time and make the other guys beat you. Have they won a game without whitt or dye being the leading scorer? I'm not trying to be mean or put anyone down, but I'm just asking, has anyone other than those two lead the team in points in any of the games thusfar this year?
  5. Everything I've heard is district OR and region @ Clinton, so...
  6. This is how I'll go with it. CC over Central Halls over Karns Powell over CC OR over Halls Powell over Clinton Halls over Clinton (consolation) OR over Powell (championship
  7. Mocs, I'm curious as to why you think Halls can beat Oak Ridge. I haven't been able to see Oak Ridge play this year, so I have no idea what they've done to Halls in the first 2 games but I know they won by at least 10 both times(I think). Especially with the tourney being at OR. If Halls could get to the championship game and play Powell again, I'd say they'd win it. I know it's hard to beat someone once, neverless twice and almost impossible for a third time, but with the way Halls played saturday so inspired and just wanting it more than Powell in my opinion, who's to say they wouldn't again?
  8. I would think there would be "special treatment" since they were playing a JV tournament. Would tssaa tell them no, that they can't play because a prescheduled tournament and a postponed game happen to fall the same day. I would think that there are special exceptions to the rule, but what you say makes since..the rule is there. Maybe the make-up day reverts back to the day it was previously scheduled.
  9. Geeze Clay. I read the shopper today...I didn't realize you had played 2 games earlier in the day on Saturday. My goodness gracious alive man. That was an incredible feat that you pulled on Saturday scoring 62 points in the two jv games and Powell game all 3 combined. Good luck tonight although you may not see this until after the game.
  10. Wait till after tomorrow night and I'll possibly give you the coach who ought to be it for sure, unless proven otherwise of course . It all really depends on if he can get his troops in the right defenses and offenses tomorrow night against Clinton. In his second season as head coach(finished out the 02-03 season as interim head coach i believe), Jason Webster from Knoxville Halls has got his team one win away from 2nd in the district with 18 wins on the year. That's a nice improvement from 7-17 in 02-03 and 10-19 a year ago. Also, if they can get to 2nd in district tomorrow night, that would be the first time in over 3 years (at least) for sure that they've been in the upper half of the district, neverless second.
  11. Great game segers. Way to come off the bench and not be afraid to throw it up in such a big game with probably the biggest crowd in the gym in many many years. Anyway, even if it's not you coming off the bench, you guys need that spark that you gave the team saturday. Congrats, good luck tomorrow. I only wish I could be there. It's going to be huge. And as much as you all are probably hearing about how big or huge a game it is, just remember to go out and have fun. Go Halls!!! thumb thumb
  12. Well, let's go ahead and hear what you all have to think. I think it should be a great game that may go down to the wire. Look for Borum to redeem himself, but will everyone else step up that needs to? What do you all think?
  13. I don't know or possibly even think really the district 3AAA is the toughest, but for the quality of players in this district, they are extremely even. There is only 1 district game left. That's between Halls and Clinton. If Halls wins, then the district will shape up like this... Oak Ridge 10-2 Halls 7-5 Clinton 7-5 Powell 7-5 Karns 6-6 Central 3-9 Campbell County 2-10 However, if Halls were to lose, the district will look like this... Oak Ridge 10-2 Clinton 8-4 Powell 7-5 Karns 6-6 Halls 6-6 Central 3-9 Campbell County 2-10. Halls will either be 2nd in the district or 5th pending the outcome on Tuesday vs. Clinton. The athletes on the teams may not compare to other regions in the state, but the competitiveness is unreal. Any team can beat the other team truly on any given night. I know that that is said in all sports, but it's a reality in this district. How many other districts are so close that if karns won just one more game in the district this year that there would have been a possibility of a 4-way tie for 2-5 in the district? I would have to think not very many could say that. As it is, there's a definite chance of a 3-way tie for 2nd.
  14. really? that just doesn't seem right because head to head between Clinton Halls and Powell if they tied, Halls would be 3-1 against the other two, Clinton 2-2, and powell 1-3. Do they break the tie based on who beat the #1 team instead of head to head like this because if they do, then they should change that for the future. that seems crazy to be down right honest.
  15. Buzz won't be going anywhere...if Tennessee got rid of him they'd be paying 3 paychecks out for 1 coach...they're still paying for Jerry Green, they'd be paying Buzz's contract out and whatever coach they (could) hire. I'd like to see Buzz have a couple more years to try to turn it around...he needs a couple really big low-post guys who can defend, get up and down the court, and score. Better said than done I guess
  16. It's pretty amazing that he can play at all. I mean, they only have 3 months of decent weather to get outside and shoot around and practice at the home
  17. Well, the district just got all the more interesting with the Halls W tonight. This is how it shapes up. Halls is very close to doing the impossible. Noone, including myself, has believed they have a remote chance of rebounding and taking 2nd in the District, but they are just one win against Clinton away from doing that. Halls owned tonight thanks in large part to Clay Seigers game of the season. The boy couldn't miss out there. I sure hope someone has got some numbers on this game so I don't have to wait until the morning to find out. Unbelievable victory for Halls and the final score won't emphasize I'm sure how they dominated. I thought for sure that Halls would be out of gas tonight after having to go to Karns and win and turn around tonight and play a team like Powell. Conference Overall Team W-L Win % W-L Win % OAK RIDGE 10-2 CLINTON 7-4 <---game vs. Halls 2/15 POWELL 7-5 HALLS 6-5 <---game @ Clinton 2/15 KARNS 6-6 CENTRAL 3-9 CAMPBELL COUNTY 2-10 With a Halls win Tuesday, the district I believe will shape up like this. Oak Ridge 10-2 Halls 7-5 Clinton 7-5 Powell 7-5 Karns 6-6 Central 3-9 Campbell County 2-10 With a Clinton win, it should be like this. Oak Ridge 10-2 Clinton 8-4 Powell 7-5 Halls 6-6 Karns 6-6 Central 3-9 Campbell County 2-10. Let me know if I'm wrong about this. The Halls/Karns seeding wouldn't matter if I'm not mistaken in the second scenario.
  18. I sure wish I could be at that Halls/Clinton game. 2nd place is on the line for that one. Halls was very impressive tonight and played some incredibly inspired basketball. Seems as if they've worked on playing defense the past couple weeks. How about playing a 1-3-1 matchup zone all night. Has anyone ever seen that from Halls the past few years? It's always been man on man. Major props to coach Webster of the Devils
  19. I went to the game, left with 15 seconds left on the clock to beat traffic because Halls sealed the deal late. I was getting worried when Powell trimmed it down to 5 late(Halls led by as much as 14 i think with 4 minutes left in the game), but Halls got their free throws going and was able to pull it out. Powell had three players foul out late, Ward, Hargis, and #5. Ward was in foul trouble all game and probably only played half of it. Seigers came off the bench and was by far the leading scorer, hitting at least 4 three pointers and at least 5 free throws. I think after him was borum, not sure on the total, but Halls has found defense. What I mean is, they usually only play the man to man defense or at least in the past they did, tonight they were in a 1-3-1 matchup zone which caused Powell trouble all night when Ward was on the bench. When he was out there, he spotted up the 3 and hit it and hit it and hit it, but the foul trouble killed him. Lee Smith didn't do all that much really. He probably had around ten but may have had more or less. It's so hard to keep up with all the scoring in your head. Halls/Clinton will be an interesting game. D. Whitt, Dye, and another player(possibly the coach too, i'm not sure what he looks like) all were at the game and sat in front of me. So they see how Halls was clicking on all cylinders tonight. Should make for a real interesting game. Halls is only 1 game away from making it to 2nd. This is just unbelievable that they're even this close to it. Good luck to them next week against Clinton. I won't be able to make it out there because I have to go practice for an Easter pageant at my church. If anyone's got some more info on this game, please let us know. Oh, another thing is that it seemed as if Halls wanted the game a whole lot more than Powell. It was an incredible game of spurts. At one point, Halls led like 46-35 or something like that and Powell rallied to tie it at 46...then halls broke it back out to 58-47 and Powell never got that close afterwards.
  20. Powell and Halls meet up again tonight. *Game time is 7:00 at Halls* This should be very interesting. I haven't had the opportunity to watch Halls much lately with work and school, but the win against Karns last night helps my thoughts about tonight's game. What's everyone think?
  21. These things crack me up because oak ridge has beaten powell twice and is in the district lead and halls has beaten anderson county twice. Yet, both are 1 spot right behind the other teams. Do they really look at who they put here or if you win one and the team ahead loses one, it's an automatic switch?
  22. Does anyone know or has anyone heard any rumors if the Clinton/AC game will be made up?
  23. Oak Ridge 67 Central 57 Halls 66 Karns 61 Fulton 47 Campbell County 44 (wow) Anderson County Clinton??? 1. Oak Ridge 10-2 2. Powell 7-4 3. Clinton 7-4 4. Karns 6-6 5. Halls 5-5 6. Central 3-9 7. Campbell County 2-10 Alright, so If halls wins one more, they have 4th place wrapped up? And if they win out, they got 2nd? Did I hear that earlier in one of the threads? And could someone who was at the Halls/Karns game recap it for me a little bit. I wasn't able to be there tonight, but I'll be out at the game tomorrow night. Should be an awesome game. Goog luck to both Halls and Powell, more so Halls, but let's hope it's played within the game and doesn't get too out of control with the rivalry and everything that is riding on this game.
  24. well, those 68 points would probably beat halls right now. What's up with them anyways? they've failed to score 60 in 4 of their last 5.
  25. I've never really gotten into the basketball teams, but I did grajitate from Halls...played football all four years and baseball my freshman year. Anyways, Sharp has gotten me more interested in the team. I didn't say I thought that Halls could pull that off, I just merely said it would be hilarious and amazing at that. So, how about predictions for this week and has anyone hearrd when halls/powell will be made up?
