  1. Trousdale with 8 state championships (1922, 1972, 1990, 1993, 1997, 1998, 2005 and 2008) only a few other teams can claim more state football titles in Tennessee than Trousdale county. The championship teams in 1990, 1997, 2005 and 2008 all went undefeated. The fact that they have made the playoffs every year since 1988 is just another testament to the program's consistency. Since 1990 the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets have either won the championship in 1A or lost to the eventual champion 18 out of the 21 seasons.

The 1997 undefeated championship team should be considered one of the best teams in Tennessee high school football history. That team still holds the record for points scored in a season with 733 points through 15 games. The biggest stat from that season is the fact that they outscored their opponents 733-63. That means that over the course of the season they only allowed an average of 4 points a game while scoring nearly 50 points a game! The 1997 Trousdale County Yellow Jackets capped off a great season with a 45-0 win in the state championship against Clarksville Academy.

You cannot have a great program without great coaching and the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets have had some of the best coaches throughout the years. The Satterfield family has become synonymous with coaching in middle Tennessee. Clint Satterfield will likely be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in 1A and Tennessee high school football in general. In 24 years of coaching at Trousdale County coach Clint Satterfield amassed 260 wins and 5 1A Tennessee football championships.

  2. I don't think the schedule made that much of a difference.

PC always has a top notch team that's loaded with athletes and good coaching.

PC was simply a better team and they got the breaks they needed.

Any #1 seed would've had a tough time against PC.

    BTW, where's Upperman tonight?

I think Upperman was 5-5 at years end. much improved but still weak. Heard Dekalb , Cookeville and Livingston were winning though. Again ,I live in Silver Point, from Sumner Co......just a guy that likes Football.

  3. Now we see how the week schedule for SC plays out. What other number one rated team in the state is even thinking its gonna be a close ball game other than SC. I venture to say most first round games by top ranked teams in the quadrant will be 3-4 td victories. Why are even the SC fans calling for vitory by 6 or 8....I think they know how truley week there district is and also how week there non confrence schedule is. Yes SC is good team to be 10-0 no doubt, but we will have to wait and see if rather a 8-2 record with some games against TC or say Signal Mt. would have been better served than playing Sparta and Warren County.

looks like I know more than some of you give me credit for.You got to play big time teams before you become a big time team. But, still great season.

  4. Let me give a pat on the back to a player I seen twice this year, and was very impressed with. QB Conner York for Upperman. With average talent around him,he was a big suprise. Could be a candidate for mr football Back in @ a next year as a junior. This year he had 1680 passing with 17 td and 5 int's. He also ran for 680 yards and 8 td's. Not many Sophomores but up 2340 yards and 25 td's in a season, specially on a very average team.

  5. You can go away too. We all know SC did not play a killer schedule. We did play teams close to home that brought good gates. We don't play Trousdale this year...likely won't play them in the near future. If TC played Pearl Cohn in the 1st round...they would have a tough game too. Apples and oranges. You have no idea what you are talking about. Give everyone a rest and find something else to do. Bt the way...Warren Central is 5a.

just because you walk around with Smith county powerhouse blinders doesnt make you correct. Fact is not another top seed in playoffs is worried about there first round game like Smith is. Tell me this, if you had played TC or Signal mnt. and won say by 2 scores, would you be worried about a 5-5 team that is a little athletic? No, but you didnt so now there is the unknow factor about how good you really are. There should be no doubt about a first or second round playoff game now that there is 6 classes and waterdown like it is if your 10-0. I stick to my statement that we will all see if the weak schedule come back to bite Smith.

  6. 1st off prettyboy, a WEEK is 7 days. I guess we need to scout out 2-3 years ahead and see what every team SC plays has coming up. He++, when we did play TC and won, they said it was down years for them. Weak district......exactly what is SC supposed to do about that?? The same thing has been said every year. SC-York-LA and others have proven otherwise.

I see DC , LA , White House, and Macon Co. are in the 4A playoffs.Gordonsville is in 1A and as best as I recall SC played and beat them all. Kinda makes it evident you don't have any idea what your talking about don't it?? Look and see who PC has played and who beat them. Only someone that knows nothing about HS football would think this will be a 3-4 TD victory.

    lookinggood is lookingsilly

You dont have to scout 2 years out to know white county and warren county suck. THEY DO EVERY YEAR! Macon, Livingston, White House and Dekalb might all be history after the first round. So this leaves your one truely tough game against a 1a school Gordonsville. Trousdale is right down the road....play them.

Look at Trousdale playing Warren Central in KY 6a, Signal Mountain playing Blackman 6a, Alcoa playing the 6a state champion Maryville. You cant sit here and tell me Smith knowing tired to schedule a tough schedule outside there already weak ( we know they cant help this) district. You are the silly looking one. There lack of a gold ball shows somehtingis not getting the playoff ready with all the 10-0, 9-1, or 8-2 teams they have had that stumbled in the playoffs. They struggled even in the first round of playoffs verse east Lit. Does TC or Alcoa ever struggle in the first round? Get real.

  7. Now we see how the week schedule for SC plays out. What other number one rated team in the state is even thinking its gonna be a close ball game other than SC. I venture to say most first round games by top ranked teams in the quadrant will be 3-4 td victories. 8. this is the best post i have seen from you.you are right what ever it takes.macon has a more throwing team than running but that is not coach p. style.the players have to want it more.it does not matter if you like the coach or not.you will only get to play high school football for 4 years in your life and then it's gone.this year's team is full of talent but the desire is lacking a little bit from what i have seen.who's fault it is does'nt matter.there is no re-do's.enjoy what's left and have some fun win or loose.

I see alot of people bashing TC and Macon on alot of post here and on the Smith page. Am I mistaken or had not both of there coaches won a state title? Something i doubt will ever happen at Smith or Dekalb or at least in near future. Macon might not have the right kids in there " system " now, but its not because Pemberton cant coach. I think Creasey's 43-3 record says enough.

also on the updted stats.....2 area qb's on the middle TN leader board:

Name School G COMP ATT % YDS TD INT

    Connor York Upperman 7 81 150 0.540 1110 10 3

    Lucas Phillips DeKalb Co. 7 70 128 0.547 911 11 4

  9. See, that's the deal. Even TC's faithful would tell you that TC is not that fast and SC has about the same speed. What games did you see TC play, and what game other than Upperman did you see SC play?

Kind talking out both sids of your mouth ain't you? York at QB for SC??? You just said the recievers don't catch well. He sure can't run as well as Scurlock. .

I base this seeing TC play Macon and SC play Macon. Equal opponents. SC does have simular sppeds in backs, but not in the backers or line. Livingstone has one really fast running back but not multiple speedster like Smith or TC. Number 12 TC and 8 smith about equal. Harper and Maning are diffrent backs but simular production. Number 4 for TC at fullback for TC is a beast and very fast for his size. Dline and backers speen goes to TC.

  10. Going on my gut, Dekalb wins 35-31. Macon deffense is horrible and lack of speed gets them the loss. I do think the qb is Macon is the best qb in the upper cumblerland by far though. Dekalb and livingston qb tied for second. The kid from Smith is a lil over rated and his wr's dont help him much either with drops.

  11. I'll turn the tables a little myself. Just where would you play York? He couldn't run SC offense like Scurlock. What would you suggest SC be "great "doing? What couple of great things does 'Alcoa" do? I'm not necessarly disagreeing , I'm just trying to look from your side of the table. While SC didn't look "inspired"and kinda just going through the motions last night, but still did what they were supposed to do.

Manning?? It don't matter if he's 5'5" or 6'5". He ain't playing basketball. And as far as his speed, I don't know how truly fast he is, but I see a combination of power and speed. I'm not going to compare #8 and #25. Two different style of backs.

Again, just so I can see from your side of the table, in your mind ,what makes TC the best you have seen. What do they do "great"?

Team speed is the biggest edge I give TC over any team I have seen. There just the best team at all around. Smith would be second,Livingston third and Dekalb and Macon right beind them. Livingston lacks team speed and a power running game. Macon and Dekalb lack good D. Smith has trouble and corner and reveiers dont catch very well. And yes I do think York at qb as much more upaide. Specially if playing around all the tallent Smith has. I was very impressed again with Smith's offensive line. Very big and strong.

  12. My take on second time I seen Smith. Good offense. Good Line and good skill positions. Good deffense. Good d-line and good guys behind them. Only 3 players could get on the field from Upperman is playing for Smith 21 wr Hydenski, 15 DE Sauceman, ( and yes I am saying it) qb York. Never gonna compete when the 22 best players on the field is slanted tward Smith 18-3. But now I turn the table. Smith is very good at everything, except field goals, but not great at anything. I say to be the Alcoa's of the world, you have to be good at everything and great at a couple things for the gold ball to be a possibility. One more thing, I put my house on a bet the Manning kid is not 5'11 or a true 4.4. By all accounts, number 8 for SC was the best, and fastest kid on the field and he is no 4.4. Played with Tyrone Calico at mtsu who combined 4.49 at NFL....and there is no comparison. But hey, pretty good for a sophomore. I still say Trousdale is the best team I have seen in person 3-a and under so far this year.

  13. "It's been the year of the quarterback, it seems," said Maynord. "It's been that way every week. We haven't faced a team this year that didn't have a really a good quarterback. We've got a good one too (Gage Scurlock). Connor (York)'s thrown for a lot of yards thus far, so that's definitely a concern. They do have some speed at some positions there that makes them dangerous. We have to do a good job of getting pressure and do a good job of coverage and hopefully we'll be OK."

Scurlock has had a pretty solid season with 566 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions, and York really is proving to be a solid threat, picking up 1,018 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions on the year so far.

This sound like at least a good game to watch if you like quaterbacks. Still I think the game will be over by end of 3rd.

  14. Lookinggood - can't really tell what team you support. You seem to know a lot about many different teams in this area. Where do you live?

Kinda in the middleof every where, Silver point. Equal distance from Smith, Upperman and Dekalb but grew up in Sumner Co close to Westmoreland. Just a HS fan. I call easy win for SC. But hey, the 1980 olympics was a gimmie for The Russians. Guess this is why you play them. Wondering what the Smith Co fans think about the article about the 2 perry Co lineman ruled inelligable. Hearing some talk on one of there own lineman playing from out of county. Might just be rumor but who knows.

  15. score 42-14.......only because Maynard calls the dogs off early on his form player head coach Herron. With 8-9 sophomores starting on each side of the ball, no way to slow down SC or have enough time to pass the ball. Maynard will be honored at half time for his 97 semi final 11-3 Bee team. As remembered, they lost to a Chad Penninton led Knox Webb 12-7. One of the best coaching staffs ever that year in the upper cumberland with Maynard calling the D and Pemberton running the O.

  16. I'm gonna say one more thing about this......and let it go...hopefully. I think I know ole snakey. He was being candid. He may have seen it on film. I KNOW he was on the field and had a front row seat. Putting all TC in a "classless" group is not right.

Like anywhere just a few makes everybody look bad. Other sports??? How many times have YOU seen the DOS on the diamond or courtside??? How bout the sidelines?? See, answered your on question. NOW, SEVEN, do you really think Maynord is so in tune with TCs program that he knows what they have coming up?? You have GOT to be kidding. Most Jr Pro superstars and Jr. High stars never are as good as they seem, or as bad as they seem once they are Jr. and Srs. Surely as much football as you seen, you know that. I guess that's why W.H. was added to the schedule . Maynord knew what they had coming up??? Makes no sense.

Anytime the series has been stopped, and it was stopped a time or two before this, it wasn't because of the kids or coaches. It's the things happening outside the lines. In this case, what happen outside the lines was a factor. Ask Clint. He called and offered an apology to #7s mom. What Clint did to his kids, what Maynord did to his kids... It's a bad anology but "I can kick my dog, but you had better not" Hence the debate.....TC fans say "scared" SC fans say "classless". Neither is right.

Alright guys.....SC and TC own the series with Macon I get that. But give give them credit, Macon's district is tougher than either of yours. And they still play both of you year in and out. Show some love for that.

  17. OK call it what you want but like Termite said they had to get lucky 5 times and thats not a fluke. LA played the toughest schedule in any class. Beat Carter on the road..beat AE on the road...beat Catholic on the road..beat ND at home and won GOLD by beating DL. Compared to your 03 run you all won 3 at home and we smacked by Fulton in the semi's. Big difference wouldn't you say.

As i remeber someone saying, in 03 Macons best player was there returing 2 year starting qb. Some said best player in the district. This senior quit the week of the first game and they went 12-2 with a sophomore. I might be mistaken on a rumor, but just think what could have been.
