  1. This whole thing is a real sad ending to a pretty good baseball season... I know I had said some things in early post and maybe I was wrong but, bottom line mistakes were made by coaches...it started with the CD coach and ended with SG coaches not knowing to protest before the start of the 7th inning...Those two decisions cost a bunch of SR's and the rest of their teammates some more baseball and gave a team in District 1 a BIG gift! This could of been a year where NE TN (BRAC) could of made a statement to the rest of TN that we can play some baseball up here... Who knows what would of happend but, from a lot of talk and conversations with fellow Devil fans and players we are all sad from this outcome. We all cheer for our beloved schools but, we always have a place in our hearts for every single athelete in Greene County whether its Greeneville HS or SG, CD or WG... a lot of these kids are friends and have played together at some point in their lives. All parents want nothing but success and happiness for everyones son or daughter. The Devils feel for those players on both teams that were affected by this and that we won't have our brothers coming with us to represent the BRAC and Greene county in the upcoming Regional. So, we will go in to the Regional representing all of us... We will do our very best to represent our conference to our fullest. You will be in our thoughts as we try and make it through the rest of the tournament. If anyone out there is interested in supporting the Devils in their quest they will play on Monday the 14th at Dale Alexander...Time not sure yet. Good luck to those SR's from all county schools on their next chapter in their lives...
  2. Who discovered the Violation?...SG YOUR PATHETIC! this same thing has happend to teams of ours in the past and we have moved on... Bottom line is CD beat the Rebels hands down last night!!... none of thos 7 runs came with in the violation period... Greeneville doesn't care who we play but, what a sour end to a great ball game and effort by CD Knights... bottom line, CD Knights deserve to be playing tonight you were the better team last night... and to take a point from the "personally, I don't like to win"....and "Going to the Regional is a big thing"... Comment, then you should of beat them last night and none of this would of mattered... Its not like CD brought in some ringer... I think its pathetic if you ask me... Bottom line is SG if its ruled in your favor...YOU still have to WIN 2 and that is not going to happen... I know that a lot of the Devil ballplayers got together last night... SG just Buckle it up! is all I can say...and this goes beyond your pathetic attempt to steal one from CD...for those who were involved with the situation with our last game on Monday...you know what I mean!!! just buckle it up!!!
  3. Well... I was 1-1 in my predictions. I thought CG would beat CD but, was wrong... CD bats came alive and made easy work of CG...Congrats! My Devils came out a little slow and then the bats found the holes! All 6 runs came with 2 outs in each of the innings... that's pretty darn good and the Devils bottom half of the line up started hitting it like they can. Pioneer park is a pitchers ball park and and shots by Thornton, Hollowell and Baxley are BIG BOMBS at any other ball park. SO, whats next? SG has to continue to just play their game and they will be just fine. I'm looking forward to another great SG VS GVL match up on Weds night with Collins vs Lobrillo. Two very BIG competitors that hate to lose... should be a good one! GOOD Luck tonight Rebs... We want YOU! LOL
  4. All I can say is that you never know... However, I would say that Greeneville played like they hadn't played a ball game in over a week... a little rusty and lets see... the rebs have played Claiborne and CD... 2 teams that I wouldn't rest on those two wins... I predict Cumberland Gap beats CD on Monday as well...Now, do I think the Rebels can beat the Devils sure I do.. Do I think it comes on Monday? NO I don't. If the Devils beat the rebs tomorrow the Devils beat the Rebs on Weds night...either way it will be exciting...not getting ahead of ourselves but, how about this.. Both Devils and Rebs move on to Regionals... both win first game and play each other for the Reional championship.. Then off to sectionals and both with there as well.. and both head to the Spring Fling together!! LOL would be a great story! but, first things first...
  5. I second that prediction as well as replacing the ?? with Greeneville.
  6. First round games on friday will be very predictable... well almost.. Grainger vs Cumberland Gap: Toss up Chuckey Doak vs West Greene: Chuckey Doak and South Greene vs Claiborne: South Greene... the second round is the game you mentioned... CD vs SG. This match up could be an early test for SG. Bottom line it will come down to the Devils vs Rebels..
  7. Here is what has to happen... worse case scenario and that is if SG and GVL take care of their business. GVL has to win 3 and a potential max of 4 games to win the Title and SG has to win 4 and a potential max of 5 for their Title hopes... this is why we say "why we play the games" but, I don't see the Rebels taking 2 of 3 from the Devils. They may get one... (long shot) but, not two..
  8. With the Devils winning at Grainger and CD getting the "W" vs West Greene last night this is what I have come up with possiable match ups for the upcoming District Tournament. Seeding: #1 GHS 11-0 (make up with WG) #2 SG 8-3 (make up with Claiborne) #3 CD 6-5 (Make up with Claiborne) #4 GR 6-6 (done) #5 CG 5-7 (This is estimate on their record but, think I'm right) #6 WG 3-8 (Make up with GVL) #7 Cl 0-10 (Make up with SG and CD) ** the only thing that could change is the 4 and 5 seeds...and that depends on CD losing to Claiborne which I don't see that happening. Bracket: #4Grainger VS #5Cumberland Gap - Winner gets #1 GHS #3Chuckey Doak VS #6West Greene #2South Greene VS #7Clairborne Winner of 3/6 and 2/7 play and that winner will get winner of GHS and 4/5
  9. District Tournament starts next week... any thougths?? Greeneville has taken the BRAC this year and has the first round bye...I would think SG will be number 2 seed. Does anyone know what the other teams records are? I can almost assure you that Claiborne is bottom seed just not sure about Grainger (I heard the Devils run ruled yesterday), CD, WG and CG.
  10. Underclassman.. Finchum won that award last year.. from the BRAC as a Freshman...Not that impossible to win it two years in a row...Kid has a good future. Cole Hands Down for player of the year..I like Painter but, I think Cole is more important to SG success which I think should be a factor. As for Pitchers..Collins has a shot but, Got the Stats and Rambo is 4-0 with 1 more start with ERA just over 4.. SG game helped lower it.. Lobrillo is 4-0 with 2 more starts left with an ERA just under 2. Rambos best performance this year was against SG, Lobrillo's worst performance this year was against SG. It will come down to those 3 guys this year.
  11. Thats tough to call.. since I have not seen Grainger yet and who knows what happens with other games, plus still have District tournament but, I will throw this guy out there.. Based on numbers and box scores etc... Cole Baxley might be the choice and that is coming from a Devils fan! He's a great kid and very talented BUT, not much consistency around the BRAC this year...so, if season ended today I would give it to Cole.
  12. Well...Round one to the Devils. This game went to almost what I had predicted. Once again the Devils offense went in spurts and Lobrillo was not his typical self but fought through it and got the job done. We knew SG was going to come out and hit it and the game plan was to jump on SG early which the Devils did. Looking forward to round 2!! Tomorrow will not be the last time they will meet one another... They will meet again for the District title in a few weeks! Looking forward to my visit to Rebel Hill and end our two year drought.
  13. Well...We are almost there! it must be something in the water around here lately because the Devils are making some stupid baseball mistakes and their hitting has once again taken to long to get going and if its not for playing some weaker teams the Devils could of been looking at some trouble. In my opinion the Devils are asking a lot of their pitching staff to hold off the other teams offense to long for their offense to get going. They better start righting the ship tonight with a double header vs Cherokee at Dale or it could be a very long evening Monday and Tuesday. Regardless, its going to be a great two game set...it looks like who makes the fewest mistakes will be the team that comes out on top.
  14. Well with the only series remaining between GVL and the SG is the Cumberland Gap Series tonight and tomorrow... I hope we can keep it rolling. Did a number on Cumberland County last Friday and showed that the Devils have found another "Ace" in the pitching staff... Luke Rambo and the bats are starting to come alive... 1-9 are hitting the ball all over the ballpark... Greeneville could be starting to put it all together right now and just when it needs to count... We still need to make up one more game with WG and that will be played after the SG and Grainger games have been played... Monday the 16th and 17th will be exciting...The Rebels have taken down the Devils in the last two seasons at Rebel Hill and that sits on the minds of the players especially the Seniors. I can't wait its going to be fun and exciting.
  15. I know SG has played them... I was referring to the Devils... Still have to play them and SG... big back to back series for the Devils... meaning could be the deciding factor in the first round bye in Districts... I totaly agree with you about unicoi but, still not smart...and after Unicoi having our number for the past two seasons it was nice to see us give them an old fashion butt whipping 17-6 the other night up in Boone... I enjoyed watching the Unicoi fans and coaches come unglued.. some even being asked to leave the park... anyway, Devils put one on WG last night 18-7 and have them at home tonight... Good luck to everyone and GO DEVILS.
  16. If this is true... WOW!!! why would they even start a starter in a meaningless tournament... and let him go 163 is even a bigger STUPID MOVE!! first the chances of getting hurt second eventually he will get tired and for their sake I hope its not when the season is going to count!! plus this just shows me that He is all the Rebels have for pitching this year... Greeneville was in the same tournament.. however, not one of the Devils pitchers (starters) Rambo or Lobrillo saw the mound plus they used it to get the other ball players experience and playing time... They played 3 games and got out.. smart move in my opionion... That tournament don't mean a thing...the Devils offense from top to bottom is really starting to click..ask Unicoi LOL... if they can shore up a few things the Devils could make a serious run this year...however, its baseball and anything can happen... The SG and Grainger series will be exciting and will determine who has the first round bye in the District tournament...GO DEVILS!!! West Greene tonight!
  17. Monday: GVL 10 Claiborne 0 in 5, Tuesday: GVL 9 Claiborne 2 Wednesday: North Greene Thursday: Daniel Boone
  18. Greenecosportsfan...you are looking at this season the right way... Now by my screen name we all know where my colors are...the old saying... "that is why we play the game".. is no better stated when it comes to baseball. However, This year will be no different then the past couple of seasons... it will come down to the last 3 weeks of the BRAC season who is going to come away with the conference. Greeneville playing SG and finishing with Grainger. I can tell you that for the past four years I have watched these teams and I will have to say SG and Greeneville will be the teams to beat. However, Grainger is always hanging around and are very well coached and could be the spoiler to one of us... I have only heard about some of the other scimmages and I hear that SG holding their own... Grainger looks pretty good again. However,Greeneville has destroyed Cocke County and Swept Crocket in a two game series. If any of you have watched Greeneville play over the past 3-4 seasons you will notice a big change to their game.. Their pitching this year could be some of the best that Greeneville has ever had. Rambo and Lobrillo have only given up 4 runs between them and the other Rambo now on the mound looks just as dominating. The beauty of the pitching staff is they have about 5 more right behind them with everyone with Varsity experience..The outfield and Infield is fast and playing solid D. Offense...just so ya'll don't think I'm a total homer..LOL Its seems they have been getting off to slow starts and strugle early but, by the second time through they find ways to score runs and in bunches. I'm looking forward to this season probably more than any of the other 3... Going to be exciting.. Bottom line a first round bye and get to the District championship game as well as getting over that Sectional hump... will only be accepted. Anything else will be considered a failure for the Devils Season...OH, Just my opinion...For all the rest, CD, WG, Cumberland Gap and Claiborne will all be playing for 4th. Sorry but, thats the reality of it... Good Luck and it goes live on Monday!
  19. Yes it was great weather...however, Crockett Postponed the game do to field conditions. we play tomorrow 2/28 at Dale vs Cocke and on Wednesday 2/29 at Dale vs Crockett.
  20. I would agree with you.. it would be great for both teams to go far this season. As long as we both take care of our own business and don't let Grainger sneak up on one us I think we will be ok.. They just seem to always reload... However, I don't think they have enough bullets in the gun this year. This time of year we can't take what we will see as a true barometer... to early... Now, if ball games are being played like its late February early March in late April early May..then we may want to panic a little...LOL but, I don't see that happening from either on these clubs. We have Crocket tomorrow afternoon. I wish Greeneville played Unicoi during the season...Unicoi, Elizabethton and maybe Sullivan East are 3 teams that will play a role in Regionals...as always... From playing Unicoi and Elizabethton last year, I feel like Elizabethton could be the team to beat out of that District this year...
  21. I agree with the way the season predictions are posted so for...quick not: Hardin has not been with the Devils baseball team since early spring of last year...Anyway, Greeneville is loaded this year with 3 and 4 year starters in key spots...Thorton, Hollowell, Lobrillo, Rambo's with a compliment of Jr and Soph such as BRAC all freshman Zack Finchum... The Devils outfield will be strong and fast.. the addition of Ball from WG will help out at 3rd this season. As for Greenevilles pitching staff... one word "loaded" and as of right now according to all scouting reports Greeneville has 2 of the best starting lefties in the conference and perhaps in NETN from what I hear they are both still deciding which collegiate offers to take...A big change this year will be with the new bats. The long ball game has come to an end and for those teams with strong pitching and good defense will have a very good chance to dominate...speed will play a larger role as well, and GVL is loaded with it...look for the Devils to be very agressive in every aspect of the game this season. Greeneville and South Greene will come out of the District this season to represent the area in Regional play. This year I see Greeneville making a very strong push to get over those Sectional losses from the past 2 season and punch their ticket to the spring fling. Good Luck to everyone this season.
  22. This will be a slug fest..it should be! Its for the Title! however, There is no disputing the fact that the Panthers held the Devils last year to just 17 points but, it was still 10 more than they got... and that's all that matters!!and don't think the Panthers are the only team that came away with lessons learned from last years game.. the Panthers may be faster and stronger after a year but, so are the Devils and dont think for one second the Devils are not ready for the Panthers type of game! Gold Ball comes back to sit next to last years... where it belongs! ALL IN...
