  1. I realize how great Jovann was. BUt who else is even close? Omar is the best player in this ERA in this AREA, just as Jovann was in his ERA in this AREA.
  2. Your jealousy resonates in the immaturity of the comments you make. Say something worth saying or refrain from cutting on someone just because you are inferior to them in that area which we are all here to discuss, which is basketball. Thats what this board is about. Not a place for frustrated talentless people to bash the hard work and skill of young men, who do not cause trouble, and serve as positive male role models to a younger generation. Your 'nast sideburns' comment is superficial, you don't have to like how a player looks but you sure have to recognize when a guy has lit up most of the competition he's faced, not only locally but in many national venues. To quote the rapper BIzzy-Bone, "Real recognize real." Let the fakers be fake.
  3. He is the best player in the conference, last year he finished 2nd to a phenomonal Tyler Estepp for player of the year. He was a sophomore b.t.w. Jovann was phenomonal, don't get me wrong, but Science Hill was also a NATIONALLY RANKED program at that time, so the help was there. Not saying that this SHHS team couldn't be great as that one in the past, or that Wattad is as good as Jovann, but each of them will be remembered as the most dominant player of their respective era's in East TN basketball history.
  4. Quick! Maybe someone should call App St, UTC, MTSU, and Southern Illinois and tell them to withdraw their offers to Wattad because he had an off night where his team still won. Not to mention we should call Stanford, UT, Penn State, GA Tech, UK, UNC, Miami, Georgia, and the long list of other schools that have contacted, and will be watching Wattad play this year both for the Hill and the Travelers. I would be surprised to see any Central, or any player in the conference in the next 3 to 4 years even get half the attention Wattad gets, and deserves from scouts and Major D-1 Schools. He is the most dominant player in the area since Jovann Johnson, and none of you have anything bad to say about Jovann. If you don't beleive me ask Jo, he and Shane Williams work out with Omar 2-3 times a week, outside of regular practice. Not to mention in this fall league half the team was not even their because of football season. So once the rest of the team comes back (Forney, Crowder from injury, Turner from injury, Alexander) Wattad will get more open looks, meaning more points meaning more wins for the Hill. 16-0 is tough but if any team could do it in this conference it would be the Toppers. South has more of a shot at beating the hill than does Central, just cause of height. Central finishing Top 4 in the conference is a lofty goal for you guys. Good Luck, because it might be the only thing that will help you win.
  5. what position do you play. Who do you play for, school ball. Who is your current AAU team
  6. What were Little's numbers like this year? (PPG, RPB, BLK)?
  7. There is a few who are as good as Reddick was in high school at his freshman year, however, but this sophomore from central signed at UAB is innaccurate none the less
  8. Extend the two three zone that y'all are so freaking good at and you have a chance. These guys (Siegel) are no Clinton though. Theyu are tough, and much like you guys know from substate, they are at home. Good luck, I would like to see a TN high Oak ridge title game, but I am probably dreaming.
  9. The big post (Mullholand, I think) was dominant. Lack of rotation on the half court trap left OR's shooters open, and they made them. When the defense did rotate, Mulholand pinned the much smaller "big men" of science hill, and his teammates were unselfish and got him the ball underneath. The dagger to the heart was OR coming out 7-7 to start the third quarter. No time out from the Science Hill bench, and 4 straight possesions of jacking up threes made that lead get even bigger. Wattad played his typical game (18 points 8 boards) as did McKinney, but there was just a sense of urgency the whole game on the Science Hill side. My advice to the toppers is hit the weight room. if you are going to use a 6'2" center he';d better be a heavy guy or taller bigger guys will continue to dominate science hill. Besides the regional loss to TN high every team SH lost to had a dominant post player. (Oak ridge-Mullholland, DB- Lamond Williams, Meridian's center (forget his name), Benjamin Mays- Rashad Chase, and Brentwood- Brandan Wright)
  10. winning the regional championship game is even more of a hump they have to get over than the substate. If you look at this year, as well as last year, all 8 home teams won their sectional game. As far as science hill's fall from grace, the same could be said about a once dominant White Station or an impressive Bradley Central Team, who both didn't even make it out of their regions this year. THe toughest thing about the structure of this tournament is that the games that have the biggest implication on your substate status (regional games) are played against teams that they've played 3 or 4 times already. Especially with the weak IMAC being the counterpart to the big 7, the regionals might as well be the big 7 plus Greenville.
  11. TN high better be ready to step out of that zone. clinton can knock down 3's. They shoot a ton of them. Both of these games are going to come down to the pace of the game. the region 2 teams are more run and gun, while the region one teams are defensive oriented, Science Hill being the more "running" team of the region 1 teams
  12. Oak Ridge is real tough, excellent shooters, good bangers inside as well. Deshaud better be ready to not be the fastest guard if he wants to win against clinton. Whitt and Dye can both move and shoot. Tough press too. I'd say less disciplined but quicker than Science Hill on the press.
  13. Its going to be nice to see what strategy science hill has for the Box-and-1 Im sure that THS will try to throw at them to make other guys, besides Wattad beat them. So far the rest of the guys have made that strategy look ineffective by stepping up and knocking down shots, but it'll definetly be down to the wire, good basketball. Not to mention the refs are from region 2, so the home court will be more of an atmosphere thing, and not an officiating edge.
  14. I think that the Science Hill squad can beat any of the 4 you mentioned (Maryville, Oak Ridge, Clinton, Powell), especially if they win the region and play at home for sectional. I don't know how TN high or Greenville will stack up to them, and If Science Hill has to go on the road for sectionals again, it could be tough if they are playing any of those four. The home court really tips the scales in the sectional games.
  15. Be ready to see a similar game as last time in the Crockett vs Science hill game. You'd better believe Crockett is going to use that Box and 1 on Wattad, it almost cost the Toppers the game last time, we'll see if they can pull through again. It is going to take quality contributions from everyone, especially if they box and 1 Wattad.
  16. In addition to that, Greenville has to worry about conditioning. Science Hill plays 10-15 guys every game. Come the fourth quarter, none of the "starting five" are on the bench tired, and rarely are they in foul trouble. Having their best players rested going into the fourth is what helps Science Hill close out games. Keep in mind, this is all assuming that they both win, which is hard to do for both of them; Greenville is playing at their opponents home floor, and Science Hill is playing a team they've played three times. It is really hard to beat a team 4 times. Good luck to them though, I would certainly like to see an IMAC vs Big 7 Championship game
  17. I think that these upsets are a result of a lack of preperation for the favorite, and a well prepared opponent. Science Hill obviously has the talent to win, but as was mentioned earler, regionals have a lot of upsets simply because of the amount of times a team has seen its opponent. With upsets like the two you mentioned, don't you think SH ought to worry about freeing up their best scorer sooner rather than later? Or too late for that matter
  18. yeah, but you have to admit that they will only go so far without his scoring. I mean the further a team advances the better the competition gets. I know they have other guys that can step up and score, but my question was how will they continue to win withouth the typical contribution of their leading scorer, that being Wattad, especially in the later rounds.
  19. 2 questions: 1) What can Science Hill do to free up Wattad against the BOX -AND- 1 defenses they've been facing since the district tourney? 2) If their is nothing they can do, how far will they go without Wattad's normal offensive numbers? My opinion is that if they survive regional the box-and-one's will stop, because teams won't be aware of his game, but this doesn't solve the problem of district and regional games next season.
  20. I dont know if I would call Science Hill a mediocre team. Even compared to the old teams. Keep in mind the 3 state champs at science hill all finished 37-5 If Science Hill can run the table in district, region, sub-state, and state they will finish at 37-5. Unaka could beat them, at Unaka. But they would lose at SH, and probably lose on a neutral floor. Plus you have to consider a multitude of variables including injury.
  21. He would have to sit out for one year under TSSAA rules. I dont think he'd do that as a senior.
  22. Wattad's foot is fine. Also i wouldnt sleep on south vs db or east vs tn high or crockett or boone vs science hill if science hill doesnt play well they are certainly beatable
  23. Omar will be fine. He just has a bruised foot. No stress fracture. This weekend offf should help the soreness
  24. Hats off to all of the afformentioned teams. However I expect Central to step up big time next year as they join the Big 7. To truly prove their worth they will need to contend with Science Hill, Dobynes Bennett and an improving Sulivan South Team. That task seems daunting, considering the player retention that the Hill and South both will have next year.
