  1. QUOTE(up til now @ Feb 17 2007 - 06:23 PM) 826376653[/snapback]

Top coach how are you joking with. The best coaches in the state do not lay down in there matches. Overton has had great coaches before Ronnie Carter and Greg Wingo. But not the little man!

gabriel is definitely one of the better coaches out there, definitely one of the best light weight coaches, as can be shown by his success in the old region 6 and by his state placers

what do you have against him?

  2. McCallie is doing a poor job with the internet and keeping the brackets updated. They are a long way from being professional like Ironman or Beast of the East.

they are having technically difficulties and usually they do a very good job

  3. Now you're just trying to stir things up. Let's respect BCB and as he said, "let's put this puppy to sleep." Good luck to TJ this year.

way to avoid the question, the answer is ofcourse not, after all the admissions director at mccallie is a sports fanatic and was a 2 sport coach before taking the job...mccallie has always favored athletics in any situation, and when they can get one of the better young wrestlers this year when they are hurting in the lower weights they arent gonna pass on it

just wondering anna what happened to last years 103s and and back up 112 and 119

  4. im not completely sure on this but i think brett is high because whitakers been wrestling 112 and not 119, and because bailey lost his match vs. soddy's 112, and brett dominated the baylor kid at 119...im sure that had something to do with it

and calm down i dont think mccallie was trying to screw baylor over

  5. ok i dont know too much about this kid or whats going on but from what i understand he is leaving baylor so he can be a 5 time state champ and mccallie

first problem i see with this this if he is good enough to be a 5 time state champ why isnt he still at baylor...maybe somebody couldnt win their wrestle off?

second problem the kid is an eight grader...have fun wrestling isnt your whole life

3rd problem- 5 time state champ, last one i could remember was the kid from ny nickerson? i think, who has this kid beat to be thinging about a 5 time state champion or is he doing something called dreaming

  6. I know that going from DI to D2 you have to have a county inbetween your home-county and the D2 county school in order to participate in athletics that year. D2 to D2 rules are anybodys guess. I guess theres a rules book on it. I thought this kid lived in northern Georgia as some time here in the recent past?.................doe's he still? :thumb:

doesnt matter alot of kids from baylor and mccallie live in north georgia

  7. Sorry about mispelling Stuarts name . I also think that Croy would do ok at 171.He wrestled with my son at Brentwood this summer and I also think he will surpise a lot of people where ever he ends up at.It's also a shame that those boys aren't wrestling this year for Centenial.

    why arent they?

  8. McCallie will be playing their 4th game at Finley this year... Why is that?

Everyone on this board who has any sense knows McCallie and Baylor wouldn't whoop Ooltewah or Red Bank. They would be great games but any one of those teams could beat the other one on any given night. DII schools are in a different league because they are private schools who can go out of state and around the state to get kids to come to their school. Thats why they are in a different league. Thats why they have the best athletes around the state who later goes on to the bigger colleges. Public schools has to play with whatever is living in their zone. Ooltewah can't bring kids in from around the state and ssoutheast to play for them. Whatever Hunter and Ooltewah Middle gives them is what they have to go with. DII schools also has a lot more money than us public schools. McCallie can afford to pay for an ex-TN weight coach while public schools are stuck with whatever the principal hires. Go look at facilities. Go into the Ooltewah weight room and look at how old and crappy their equipment is and then go to McCallie or Baylor and look how much money they put into those things. There are a lot of differences why DII team are in a different league and why they produce better players. They can afford better everything for their students. After saying all that, I do hope McCallie, Baylor, Temple and Red Bank win tomorrow night. That will represent Chattanooga well. Good luck to all teams and I'll see you guys Friday Night!

i dont think baylor could whoop those two teams but i belive mccallie could...why doesnt mccallie and ooltewah ever scheldule each other? im sure potter would like that game seeing as how he likes to play the best teams he can get

  9. There is something wrong in my way of thinking to intentionaly bring an 8th grader up to wrestle varsity. There is always high school talent that can wrestle in those weight classes. But instead of developing the high school boy and giving him a chance, bringing an 8th grader up insults the entire team. Bring the 8th grader up after Middle School season is over and only for JV. You run a real threat of isolating the 8th grader from his peers; building up an ego that might be great on the mat but is destined to be deflated socially over time. Let the 8th grader earn his dues by waiting for his turn. Develop your JV boys by giving them a chance on varsity. To say that there is no one that can fill that weight in high school is just a lie or an insult to the kid that's willing to give it a try. Stop making winning the only priority. Yes its the main priority but not the only. Recognize that skrewing a boys head too tight around his own pride will be too big a price to pay for the boy and the entire program (a class program develops the entire team, not just the varsity or the elitist). For the $18,000 a kid's family has to pay each year for the privelage of wrestling, I say give your JV boys a chance to grow on the varsity mat.

wow, wrestling in high school as a middle grader is definitely a good thing, but has nothing to do with a person being more cocky, but as far as paying 18k to wrestle dats one of the dumbest things ive heard...remember theres something called an education?

  10. my predictions

    1 Baylor

    2 McCallie

    3 MBA

    4 CBHS

    5 Father Ryan

That was one of the worst matches i have never seen mccallie wrestle, but mba did bring thier 'A' game.

mccallie only lost 5 starters if i remember correctly but 4 of which came in the top 3 in state, but i know have alot of depth in the upper weights, which will help replacing robinson, huffaker and green

baylor only lost 2 i think but their two best in manson and hussein

so i think these two have to be the favorites with hands down some of the best wrestlers in the state one each team

  11. I agree with Herbie's assessment. As I mentioned in another post, does anyone have enough offense to hang with McCallie? Didn't see anywhere near enough at the Baylor BA tussle.

well riverdale never passed against mccallie and almost won, ba got dat new back jordan, ford, caffee, and kottas so their offense has enough talent to ahang with mccallie, and someone needs to tell the chatoongan dat baylor is a mediocre team..

ba and mccallie will be a great game but they got games this week they cant overlook

  12. mccallie should be fine as long as they dont over look powell like they did last year, they have a big game next week but need to concentrate for this week, powell doesnt seem to have as much skill/experience to match mccallie, but they do have a much bigger line, but i think mccallie will win

  13. biggest rivalry and one of the oldest if not in the state of Tennessee is the Baylor vs. McCallie....people live for this game where 10000+ are in attendance every year....the city of chattannoogga wants the game canceled due to the vandalism that goes on..stop signs are spray painted, cars are vandalized, and the 100 feet signs that hang from the bridges only show the spirit, and the police escorted caravans.......sure schools have rivalry but none compare to the Baylor Mccallie game where students will go to any means to get at the other school so for the 9th year in a row the blue tornado will march all over the baylor school

mccallie and baylor is a big rivalry but they definitely will not go at any lenths to get at the other school, its a pretty soft rivalry
