  1. Yep you are correct SITF. you'd think they would want to showcase the best football in the entire state but instead we get the wk day game. This should be the Sat nite game and the culmination of the playoffs esp as yr in and yr out the DII winner is the best team in the state. will be the same thing this yr. interestingly the big DI schools know that (best teams and talent in the state)- not sure why T$$AA can't figure it out
  2. there is a national one also - that's the one tristate and i saw. they list DII AA 5th in the entire country
  3. I too saw that ranking. If you've lived in other parts of the country and have seen HS football in other states, and then see DII AA ball, you can see pretty quickly how tough this league is
  4. Good grief. Not sure they would beat any team in DII AA yet alone the top teams. You might have a shot against the JV teams of the top teams. Do you watch any DII AA games? The top teams play some of the best football in the mid south let alone TN
  5. Speaking of more ridiculous items, I noted ECS received 3 1st place votes. Good grief. The JV teams of some of the top DII AA teams would beat them.
  6. I like the sarcasm. To add to your opening, a little ridiculous that BA as a "lower seed" must travel to memphis to play a team with a 4-6 record.
  7. you might be right but it also might be up for grabs this yr. Seeing EHS a few times every yr incl this one says to me they are not at the same level as last yr for instance - still very good but we'll see. MBA, BA, MUS have a shot. Maybe another in there also.
  8. I'm a bit curious what you mean by "ain't in texas anymore". As much as i am a fan of TN DII AA football AND consider it to the best division in TN, Texas is Texas and is on its own level of HS football. Cody will tell you that to this day as he did with me again a few wks back when we had lunch. Guys like matthew stafford played under him and at a few of the top teams in TX. All of those major DI schools in TX? 90% of their players come from TX. I was just there last wkend for the TX - TCU game and saw the rosters - almost all TX boys. Same with TTech, A&M, etc. Actually i'm glad he brought his style of offense he used in TX to BA this yr - felt he could not implement it his 1st yr. With the talent he had at BA last yr i wish he would have done so. Curious stmt
  9. BBD, don't get me started, it's a runaway trend in our entire country and it transcends sports. If someone can do something i can't or has something i don't, then that person or family obviously cheated or didn't earn it or they're doing something wrong.
  10. ok WC - you've picked against BA almost every game and they have been coming thru lately - at least. So now i'm really nervous. With you picking them they may be doomed. Is this a calculated ploy on your part to jinx 'em? C'mon - you're using reverse psych here arent you? You really to say E 21 BA 20. C'mon admit it
  11. Or baylor, or mccallie, or father ryan or... all would end up with a running clock
  12. not scary at all - it's a judgment call as he kicked it so high that it was above the uprights. had it gone thru the uprights even close to the poles it would have been easy to tell - it was a "high pop fly"
  13. exactly - they must look straight up and i was on the edge of the sideline further away. everyone in my group standing around me saw the same thing. you see the ball "longer" at my angle. it was close sailed to the right of the post
  14. He was kicking 60 yarders before the game and before the 2nd 1/2 - and not just one. he hit many in a row. that said, his chip shot the refs said was good was wide right - we had a far better angle than the refs. that kid has quite a leg though
  15. well WC, my read of your historic posts would tell me you'd pick lower or upper sloblovia vs BA,or east, west, southwest , north central west slolovia - all sloblovias vs BA. looking at it objectively, a toss up
  16. BT did make a heads up play BUT i spoke to a few of the BA coaches after the game and this is something they practice all of the time, and as soon as they saw what mccallie did (not control possession) they hollered at BT to pick it up. In fact the freshman coach (who also assists with varsity) said he had it happen in one of his games this yr. He was one of the ones telling BT to pick it up and go. Not to take anything away from BT - great kid and great play
  17. Wow, another uninformed poster. While it won't be like last yr, BA will again have at least 4-5 guys go on to play college football and likely multiple guys playing @ DI pgms. Last yr's squad has 8 playing college football. And Sanders is probably the best skill guy in the state right now and he is only a Jr (also the fastest kid in the state most likely come track season). I spoke to his mom last wk at the McCallie game and every top pgm in the country is after him. And he is only one of many. I've asked this question 100 times - where do you people come from? I recall some other less than well thought out posts from you on this board. Now, i see this one was at 6:30 or so so i guess by now your mom has told you it is bedtime.
  18. Whoa whoa whoa. so if you graduated HS in 76 you are old? i'm just getting started man. another 40 or so yrs to go
  19. meritage, He's referring to 24 years ago in 1989 when Ricky was at BA he met Charles Hathaway's parents in the parking lot of the Green Hills O'Charleys to discuss Charles applying for BA. BA received probation and nothing ever came of anything - Charles played at Hillsboro then on at UT. Not sure where the Hathaway at Ensworth thing got thrown in, he never attended, we went to JT Moore for Middle School - back then Ensworth was only K-8 Thanks Matt. I did not live here 24 yrs ago. I guess I surmised we would be having "cheating" discussions about this century. How foolish of me. I guess i'll get educated again when some anecdote is raised from 1940 or something like that (yes i know BA was not in existence then but MBA is always fair game). I'll get my encyclopedia out next time
  20. Every single thread on this board turns into a DII schools cheat discussion. Every one. When do you guys stop? And why don't you explain to me exactly the trouble BA got into. The AD, headmaster and anyone else at the top sure don't know anything yet you do. Maybe you work for the NSA or own your own drone? And almost everything you and others spout about on here have no basis in fact other than an isolated incident that all know about. Why is it that i don't see any DII fans, alums, parents, etc. on public school boards making accusations about bending the rules? because publics never do? I've lived in multiple states where my kids always went to private schools. Have never seen the baloney that goes on here with privates anywhere else. on and on and on and on and on....
  21. Whew, this thread has gone south, WAY south. Homers galore and others that seem to have some ongoing hangup about a school or 2 that never seems to end in any thread. Hate to tell all of you but a win in one game means little. Upsets occur every wkend and all of the time. And how many points another scores vs a team they both played means nothing. Frankly who cares who is ranked where at this point? Completely irrelevant. All will be revealed in the playoffs and guess what - surprise surprise - there will be upsets there also and a team that is likely better than another will not make it to the semis or finals. Might be time to give this one a rest
  22. I'm a BA fan but i would have to agree that this yr's team is not last yr's. I do think they have lots of talent but they are also young and growing in experience. A couple of dads of sr starters from last year told me they were at a game earlier in the year and they overheard some BA folks saying "few sr starters from last yr's team would have started on this yr's team". That's pretty funny. Might be getting a bit ahead of themselves at this point and i think some overconfidence was in fact there after they beati a team that lost many many srs incl one of the best QBs in the state. The tweets confirmed that. Tonite, they pummeled a very bad team and i hope they don't look at it the wrong way. They will have their hands very full the next 3 wks and i hope they can be in each game at the end. A tough stretch for sure. But again, in DII everyone makes the playoffs and anything can happen
  23. no different than any other year. A very tough league last year
  24. well you are right about that but i still bet it would be quite entertaining
