  1. Officials have no accountability anymore to anyone nor do they know the rules. Community was down 2 at Richland Saturday night and missed a free throw. Community trapped the ball and Richland called time out under the basket. The official then allowed Richland to run the baseline to enter the ball. There needs to be a system in place where officials can be reprimanded like coaches for behavior and lack of professionalism. They grab their checks and head home but it's the coaches and kids that have to live with their rabbit ears and lack of knowledge of the game.
  2. It's has been fun as an alumni and fan to watch our Community football program grow especially the last 2 years. For a few years we struggled to be competitive and whatever coach Frost did starting last year to get the program jump started is working I think. The defense has shown a lot of improvement, the offense is very fun to watch as you never know what formations you are gonna see and are very explosive. Last year we had about 20 boys and this year we had it looked to be about 40. Whatever Coach Frost has done to get these boys to come out and play football I hope continues in the future and maybe some day soon we will actually make those playoffs. As for Coach Frost I am thankful that we have a coach that wins and loses with class. I have a lot of respect for all the great schools in the district and there are good fans at all of them. But I wouldn't trade our coach and staff for anyone's especially after seeing the actions of a few coaches this year from other teams. I don't believe running a hurry up offense to score with less than 3 minutes to go and your team up 20. I don't believe those things are needed in high school sports. You don't get any extra credit in the playoffs by beating someone by 30 instead of 20. If you score running your regular offense with your backups then that is just football but when you are calling timeouts and running hurry up offense to score and then you go for 2 that to me is not what high school sports is about. What are you teaching your own team by doing this? Our school this year had a few victories by large margins and our backups were in the game very early. I hope Coach Frost continues to have that kind of leadership and teach our kids to win with sportsmanship. Good luck to all the schools that made the state playoffs from our region and I hope your teams do very well!
  3. Yes I heard mention that Fayetteville City was going to be a good program. My friend said he thought that breaking up this district had a better than average chance of happening but who knows.
  4. I saw and heard yesterday that Cascade will be moving out to a different division. Anyone else hear or see that? I also heard from a friend of mine that it may be possible that when they do the meeting to get districts assigned that Huntland, Moore County and Fayetteville City could be going east and Forrest, Community, MTCS, and Eagleville will be going to the west to make a true Class A and Class AA district. This is all way above my head. Anyone hear anything or is it too early for speculation?
  5. No he is not my son. I am an old alumni of the school. I don't have any kids playing. I just enjoy coming to the games and supporting my former school. I purchased a decent computer last year and a friend of mine told me about this sight and showed me how it works. I enjoy talking about my team and hearing about others as I don't get to see a lot of the other great teams play. I also enjoy the fun banter that goes on between fans. I hope no one thought I was bragging on the young man. I really just meant that as a freshman I think he is a pretty good player. In years past we haven't had a whole lot of talented kids like we have now so please excuse my excitement as I mean no disrespect to any other players or other teams.
  6. May be a good chance he doesn't play I heard. He was injured in the last game. Hope we have good weather for Friday night and a large crowd. I think if both teams are at full strength that it should be a very entertaining game. I also look forward to each teams game plan. Every week Community has come out in different formations on offense and last week there were some pretty neat ones on defense as well. That was the first time I had seen the wishbone in years. I know Moore County will have an excellent game plan prepared.
  7. That is true. If I remember correctly they had a few players play Division I football. I remember one lineman I believe went to Perdue. Correct me if I am wrong. They have a very rich tradition. I am no college recruiter not do I know what college recruiters look for but in my opinion I believe the Pride kid from Community has a great chance to play some big time college football. I hope he is able to play Friday night so Moore County fans are able to see this young man. He was in my opinion the best player on the field last Friday against Cascade. I know Moore County fans are some of the most knowledgeable football fans around and I would love their opinion on him as well.
  8. Eagleville is growing fast. You know one of the things people don't realize is that how tough this region is in all sports! It's sad that a second place team in west Tennessee with only 2 wins could get in the playoffs because they will finish second in their region of 4 teams when there are teams like Community who play a tougher region schedule who deserve it a little more I think and will probably end up having as many or more wins. This region doesn't get the respect it deserves sometimes. A good example is last year Cascade finishes 4th in the district but finishes 3rd in the state. Community went to South Pittsburg last year and won their tournament and beat them 9-3 and they finished 4th in the state. Moore County had a heck of a season as well. I think the teams in this region do not get the credit they deserve sometimes. We are like the SEC in a small way as we beat up on each other but when we go out and play other regions we usually do pretty well. Moore County has a rich tradition of football excellence and I think they are a great program!!
  9. Friday night was a great game and an exciting atmosphere. It is what a true county rivalry should be like. It was sad to see that officiating played a great deal into the final outcome of the game and hated to see Rose and Pride injured in the game. They are both great players and should be really great for their programs in years to come. I know in years past Cascade has had their way with Community on the football field but the last 2 years I think have shown that Community is starting to close the gap and hopefully will continue to make this a fun rivalry. I hated to see and hear some of the comments made that Cascade didn't play well that's why the game was so close. I am no football expert but it seemed to me the reason that they weren't playing well was because Community was making a few plays and competing with them. Community I believe could have used the same reasoning with the penalty count being 18 to 8 in favor of Cascade. I think what is lost here is the fact that Bedford county saw a really great football game Friday night with a lot of talented young men on both sides of the field playing their hearts out for their schools and their communities. The atmosphere was great! I thought both teams were well coached and had great game plans. I enjoyed the old school wishbone Community ran early in the game. For us old timers that brought back some memories! I think the bigger thing here is in any sport that officials in any sport have very little accountability in their performance. If a coach becomes unprofessional he can be kicked out of the game and suspended for a few games but if an official impacts the outcome of a game where is their accountability? I never see anyone at games critiquing officials and I hear when you send stuff to the TSSAA they could care less. This has happened way too many times. The one that stands out is last year I believe there was a sub-state basketball game in the Chattanooga area where an official gives a player technical from across the floor for mumbling and the team lost on those free throws. I may be wrong about that scenario but I believe that was the case. In any case, the game Friday night was alot of fun and I hope the Vikings can rebound emotionally to get ready for a very good Moore County group. Congrats to Cascade and Community for giving all of us a great game Friday night!
  10. MC is a great team and may get the W but Wingman is wrong. Moore County won't put up a lot of points. Community I think will be very competitive. This is not the same Community team you have seen in the past. They are getting better as the season has progressed. What happened Friday night was no fluke. Community is not on the level of Moore County with their winning tradition and great program yet but they are getting there a little at a time.
  11. Agree. There may be less than 10 passes thrown tonight combined.
  12. Congrats to Community and Coach Frost and his staff for being in contention for the playoffs. It is indeed something for the people who live in Unionville to be proud of. Congrats to Coach Parker and Cascade as well. They lost a lot of quality players last year and Coach Parker has his team right back to elite level. That says a lot about his staff. If you have no plans Friday night everyone that can in Bedford County should come out. Will be worth the price of admission I believe. Last years contest was fun to watch and hopefully this one will be too. Would be great to have all 3 Bedford County schools in the playoffs.
  13. I agree it does take several years to build a quality program. I don't know how long it took Cascade but I am sure they understand the growing pains of building one. Once it happens it sure will be nice to have a true rivalry game where both teams are competitive every year. I did hear on one of the other threads that Cascade will be moving up to 3A. What will that do to this growing rivalry? Hope for good weather Friday night. Excited to see two of the best backs not only in 9A but the mid-state in Rose and Lees. Should be fun!
  14. I think Community will make this closer than people think. Last year with less than 20 players they were tied with Cascade at the half and led most of the game losing by 9. The defense has struggled some but their offense can score with anyone. Will be interesting to see the contrast in styles. Would be worth the ticket price to see the game. Should be competitive.
  15. Community scrimmaged RBS and beat them 6 touchdowns to 2.
  16. How are spring practices going? Spring scrimmages? I heard Community has close to 50 players playing this year and heard they have a scrimmage sometime next week against RBS. Any word on the other schools?
  17. Community lost their #1 and #2 pitchers and one of their top hitters due to injury so I wouldn't say a disappointment just tough luck to end the year. All of the pitchers they had left were all sophmores. Cascade has got it going I think again and Eagleville will definantly rebound. Hats off to Moore County and what they have done and good to see Coach Hardison at Forrest get to still be playing. He is a class act and will be missed in the district and in high school baseball.
  18. Where should you send this information to?
  19. One of the Community parents said last night at the basketball game that the scrimmage has been changed to March 8 because most of baseball team is on the basketball team.
  20. Looking at some of the schedules posted in the district it seems that alot of these teams play a very tough non-district schedule. I think that helps alot of times when you go out and play better competition.
  21. Eagleville has an oustanding pitching staff and good players at every position with experience. Cascade has 2 very good starters and a senior team with big game experience. Community has 2 solid starters and a very young group that can hit the baseball. Forrest will once again field a solid group and has a bright future with their sophmore and freshmen class. Huntland is very young but very talented, just lacks experience. MTCS will be very competitive and balanced I believe. Moore County has some very talented kids at a few positions and should be in every game. My pre-season predictions are: 1. Eagleville 2. Cascade 3. Community 4. Forrest 5. MTCS 6. Moore Co. 7. Huntland Great thing about baseball is any given day you can upset anyone. Some very key games early as I believe Cascade plays Forrest and Eaglevill pretty early. Toughest the district has been in a while. Should be fun!
  22. Who is pre-season favorite?
