  1. http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/2015/07/30/nashville-chr-player-mickey-martin-killed-car-crash/30912949/ I loved watching this young man play. He gave it all every play, every second.
  2. A vehicle accident has claimed the life of an NCS player and injured two others today. Although I am aware of the details it's not my place to disclose them at this time. NCS and it's families are going to need everyone's prayers during this time and unbelievable tragedy.
  3. "workinprogress" must refer to your reading comprehension. I didn't write the post and it was clearly indicated Dave Hiller with TSU authored it. I merely reposted it and stated it was interesting. It's not my opinion, personally I enjoy watching NCS plunder 3A public schools like East Nashville, Harpeth, Cheatham County, and the list goes on. The reason some of these private schools have become successful is because of great coaches who bust their butts to coach their players up. I'm surprised the malcontents haven't proposed term limits for successful private school coaches. You malcontents are just like Obama trying to legislate equality of outcomes instead of equality of opportunity. There's a 1.8 multiplier for D1 privates which don't offer need based financial aid, and it's still not good enough for some. The pursuit of happiness is not a guarantee of happiness. The pursuit of a championship is not a guarantee of a championship.
  4. Interesting post in reference to an article in the Tennessean today. http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/06/20/tssaa-public-private-split-explained/29050895/ Daniel Hiller · Tennessee State University Split! Private schools need to get out of TSSAA and set-up their own organiztion and then refuse to Play or compete against any TSSAA public schools in any sport in Tennessee. The Private schools then need to recruit every student they want for any reason they want them anyway they want. Let the Public Schools destroy themselves they're already doing such a great job of destroying themselves in the inner-cities of TN, For gods sake, STOP TALKING give the cry babies their meaningless trophies ---Goodbye and Good riddance---PERIOD!! Let the parents, family and friends of private education just VOTE down any and EVERY request for funds for any reason for public school districts--Liberal Loony Land hasn't created enough class envy, and racial division and hate so let's give them ALL they ask for ----then sit back, laugh and watch as the REAL WHINING BEGINS!
  5. I still think he is wise and I have great respect for him. But I'll still lay the verbal smack down when he knows something is true but like a doting mother he won't admit when his children are wrong. He's letting his bias overtake his rationality. Bassy must be taking some estrogen hormone therapy. He's penny wise and pound foolish.
  6. Spoken like a true hypocrite. A lot of open zoners casting stones. The legion of the miserable will come after you next.
  7. You aren't considering the money side, more classifications means more playoff tickets, and more championship games to sell tv broadcasting rights, more economic benefit for Cookeville means they pay TSSAA more each new contract. A D3 Whiner's Bowl between Trousdale Co. and Lewis County could be huge! Although it appears now the road to the Whiner's Bowl goes straight through McKenzie!
  8. Although I love to rattle his cage, I have great respect for TheAmbassador. Sure he's probably a little full of himself, but aren't most men? Over the years, I have become to believe he is the wisest person on CoachT. No sarcasm in that sentence I mean it. His proposal to have these 23 D1 privates play up one class would be a great compromise. These 23 D1 privates will grumble and of course the paranoid "those private school people think they are so much better than me" crowd also known as public school people will grumble as well. However, those are the key ingredients of a compromise. This idea just might save the TSSAA and possibly save hundreds of thousands in litigation costs.
  9. So you got the gun toting SRO to toss out a coach handing out informational pamphlets? Interesting.......sad.....but interesting....thanks for protecting your people from such a harmful and dangerous situation.... You never did answer my question why if the private school is so much better are you guys whining about having your own league. Play the BGA, CPA, FRA even Jackson scoolhs JCS, USJ they not that far? Better competition makes you better right? If you don't understand the difference between well financed and endowed schools that give need based financial aid/scholarships to students and athletes and small private Christian schools that struggle, scrap, and fund raise to make ends meet AND DO NOT GIVE NEED BASED FINANCIAL AID BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO, then it is pointless to debate this matter with you and your ilk. Maybe after the vote and probable outcome in July, these 23 schools can band together, hire the same attorneys Brentwood Academy did a few years ago and just take this matter to Federal court. Nothing like defending against a good ole class action suit for the TSSAA operating budget.
  10. wardawg2038, a simple man with simple plan based on simply unproven accusations, rumors, and conspiracy theories involving pamphlets. I'm sure him or another of his brethren will be bringing up next about these DI private school coaches flying around in black helicopters recruiting players. How about drone usage? You just know these 23 DI privates have their own drones ready to bend the rules, just ask Bobby Sharpe and Clint Satterfield, the heroes of paranoid theorists everywhere.
  11. Indian, on 14 Jun 2015 - 08:58 AM, said: He's not missing the point. He doesn't like the eventual outcome that your point supports, therefore he's ignoring the point you're making and deflecting by answering with accusations of envy and moral issue's. _________ Players end up at destinations for a multitude of reasons. 1) Parents get divorced, move, and they go to a new school. 2) People change jobs, get fired, businesses close, parents move. 3) Student athlete attends large metropolitan public junior high school, gets threatened, assaulted, hangs with wrong crowd, parents decide a fresh start at a Christian private school. They CHOOSE to make an investment in their child's future. Wow, those are some damning reasons to isolate 23 private schools that don't award scholarships and mostly struggle each year with their budgets and on average have sub standard facilities. Have you been to Union City's great stadium and their indoor practice facility? How about Huntingdon, Alcoa, just to name a few public schools that have top notch facilities. It'll just be a matter of time before another group of malcontents surface in a few years whining about (open enrollment, facilities imbalance, urban/rural, coaching salaries, etc.). Divide and conquer, say the malcontents! It's always somebody else's fault we don't have more trophies in the case!
  12. More of this mindset that if athletes CHOOSE to work hard, stay in shape year round, and DEDICATE their lives in an attempt to excel in sports and simultaneously follow Christian doctrine, then by-golly that's just wrong. Whether this whole campaign is driven by envy, bearing false witness, or other morally bankrupt motivations, it largely is nothing more than Christian bashing.
  13. "want to debate character flaws, then let's debate what character is exposed by bending rules to accumulate talent when the rules already favor you, choosing not to face opposition with equal opportunity to access talent, and protest loudly and with much venom when it looks as if you will be pressed to face your fears and man-up to equal competition." http://usatodayhss.com/2015/tssaa-publicprivate-debate-is-about-state-titles Bernard Childress came right out and said it Thursday. The executive director of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has spent the better part of 16 months dissecting just about every potential course of action in a potential split of public and private schools in the postseason. His analysis? The debate has less to do with establishing a level playing field in high school athletics and more to do with trophies. A TSSAA council ultimately will decide July 16 among five options — keep the current system; split public and private for the postseason; split public and private for both regular season and postseason; split public and private/open enrollment public/charter; or split between urban and rural. Why the debate? There are those in the public school faction who believe some private schools in Division I are not playing on a level field, despite those school not being allowed to provide financial aid. But the TSSAA needs proof in order to act, and Childress isn’t talking about the kind of proof that comes in the form of an anonymous letter filled with blind accusations against this and that school. “If recruiting is an issue, let’s deal with it,†Childress said. “Give us some facts and we’ll deal with it. There are a lot of issues we can take care of within our bylaws instead of isolating a group of schools that don’t want to be isolated.†_____________________________________________________ TraderTwo your allegations are no different than "the kind of proof that comes in the form of an anonymous letter filled with blind accusations against this and that school." " You and your ilk base your whole case on the on-field success of certain schools, that is not evidence of wrongdoing my fine feathered friend. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." At this pace, ya'll are going to run out of commandments to break. Bless your heart. I'll say a prayer for you today.
  14. Your analysis, such that it is........is wrong on two fronts: 1) The CPA in my screen name is from my twitter account and stands for "certified public accountant" not Christ Presbyterian Academy. My school is a little private academic school called Nashville Christian and they play a little football too. Certainly I would disagree with your outrageous charge against CPA that by hiring good coaches which motivate their players to compete and win is somehow making a " mockery of TSSAA's "level playing field" ideology". 2) You state "Because Bobby Sharpe and Clint Satterfield had the backbone to circulate the petition and demand that TSSAA address an issue that was years overdue." Many do not agree it was backbone that allowed Sharpe and Satterfield a forum to display their disdain for their fellow member schools. No sir, it was purely driven by spite and envy. You know it, I know it, Bernard Childress knows it, and so does everyone else. If you want to celebrate those character traits, certainly you are entitled to. But the majority of hard working people see those as character flaws. A current application of Exodus 20:17 would read in the instant situation: You shall not covet your neighbor's facilities. You shall not covet your neighbor's fans, or his victories or his gold ball trophies, his coaches, or his accomplishments.
  15. Initially only Lewis & Trousdale Counties will be in D3. However, there appears to be several schools which are eager to join. All D3 teams will receive a football trophy in the same size and style of the traditional gold footballs at the conclusion of each season, except the ball will be GREEN.
  16. Ut umm........Dave, you really shouldn't post on days you are off your meds. A 7-3 TC team, will not win this region. Apparently you didn't see the 800 lb. guerrilla in the list of teams. That 800 lb. guerrilla can be found at 7555 Sawyer Brown Road in Western Davidson County.
  17. I would think so. We have a much tougher regular season schedule this year so come playoff time it will hopefully pay dividends. A lot of 2 hour+ one way trips this year. Of course for all of us mid state teams we must face those 800 lb guerrillas out west in Peabody, UC, and Huntingdon sooner or later. 18. Whoa SWO, I wasn't singling out UC, just using them as an example. The TSSAA BOC is having this debate next week in session and I was just posing a question. It seems like all of the open enrollment schools claim they are not getting a benefit from open enrollment. They talk like it's a heavy burden and an albatross around their collective necks. Some therefore are wondering why these same schools continue to offer open enrollment. From the Tennessean on 5/16/15: http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/05/16/tssaa-council-public-private-classification-options/27458829/?fb_action_ids=10205144867854748&fb_action_types=og.comments "Bernard Childress said the TSSAA staff also will address what could be the larger issue. Is this is about public vs. private, or is it about open-zoned schools vs. schools with defined geographic zones? Childress said the TSSAA staff has looked at 16,000 postseason contests in all sports that the association sanctions. Schools with open enrollment won more than 60 percent of the time. Open enrollment schools include private schools, charter schools, magnet schools or schools that don’t have a distinct boundary. “I think that is the issue that every state in the national federation is dealing with,†Childress said. “We’ll have information that we’ll share at that time in what other states have done and are doing now along the lines of public-private and boundary vs. non-boundary schools.†__________________________________________________________________ My point is an awful lot of public school supporters are wanting to throw these small inexpensive private schools which struggle to break even each year into the same pot as the Ensworths and Momma's Boy Academys (MBA) of the State just because middle class parents chose to send their children there. They argue it's a choice and use this argument to it to support a 1.8 private school enrollment multiplier to "level the playing field". I'm pointing out the hypocrisy, because with open zoning there is also choice, so why shouldn't these schools also have a multiplier?
  19. I'm excited for this 2015 edition of Wayne County football, and this is coming from a sweater vested Nashville Christian fan. I traveled to Columbia and watched WC "wup" up on Columbia Academy last year for 3 1/2 quarters (still can't believe the outcome of that one), and then WC's never quit attitude and toughness against my Eagles in Nashville. There was some smash mouth hard hitting football by both teams in that one. I will always love the passionate WC fans, and their animated commentary. This 2015 WC team should make a deep run in the playoffs. Until possibly some time in November, I say "Give em 48 minutes of heck, Go WildCats".
  20. Should the TSSAA Board of Control mandate that all PUBLIC schools in TN which have open enrollment (e.g. Union City) be required to use the 1.8 enrollment multiplier, just like private schools competing in Division I? A. Yes B. No C. Yes, but the multiplier should be less than the private school multiplier.
  21. Great game by UC. They just lined up, ran plays, and never even considered punting the entire game. I really feel sorry for Coalfield, they are in for it next week.
  22. I see you are already hitting the crack pipe today. Save some to ease your later suffering.
  23. If this kid keeps working hard, and gets stronger, he will be the #1 pick in the State for the Class of 2018. #34 Preview 1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeyoRPcMQtg #34 Preview 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAfKpq4tma8
  24. From my review of a few games, he's my favorite UC player. A combination of speed, grace and power when he needs it. If NC can slow down #42 & #2, which I believe they will, having #6 as another option just scares me as an NC fan. He will represent 1A well in the Toyota sponsored game.
