  1. Can SG make it more interesting? Watch SG in the Jamboree this evening and they do look like a completely different team than last year. Still sophomore and Junior heavy, but they did look good. Crockett will still probably be too much for SG, but maybe, maybe SG makes it a game.

Is there any Crockett or SG Fans left on CT ?

What is the expectation for Crockett this season?

Is there a different "End up on top when it's all said and done" than state champs?  If so, how did I miss it?

Good point, maybe I should have eluded the end of the regular season or either the playoffs or both. As an outsider, a fan of the sport, I liked what I seen. Yes, It was glimpse/1qtr against a quality opponent. I am sure the coach’s and I know most of the OR fans sitting near me picked up on it/seen the same thing I did, which was good.  I hope you guys do well, enjoy the ride.

One quarter=  Possible state champs.  Oak Ridge optimism never dies, but you've set them up on this one.

It really bulls down to how you interpret/read into things. 1st of all I never mentioned those words SC; you did above.  Optimism/positivity is good, keep spreading it and maybe it will catch fire :thumb:

I thought the offense continues to look good, at this point it is ahead of the defense. Pass coverage and secondary tackling need to get better. We have a new kicker but his extra points were the difference, punting definately needs work.

Good quality opponent in Greeneville, which may be a tick down from the two previous teams, but have a good core of players and I am sure they will be there at playoff time.

I think this G team is going to better than their last 2. This OR team to me looked night and day different from their last 2. What I saw was a confident OR team and more disciplined. Not sure how many kids OR graduated from last year, but you could tell this team had a new coach. I would not be surprised if OR makes a lot of noise in 5a this season.

Oak Ridge scrimmaged Greeneville up to Jefferson City today Cats won 14 - 13. It was one quarter of play.   JV's didn't do so well, they lost but had a good learning experience.

My take on it. Both offensive lines looked great. Probably a slight edge toward G’s. Both defensive lines looked great. G’s run defense maybe a slight edge. OR’s 2 TD’s came from passing plays. G’s 2 TD’s one from a run and the other from a pass, but failed to covert the extra point. Pass coverage I give the slight edge to OR. Not sure what the exact time was left on the clock after OR scored the 2nd TD, but I believe it was a little over a minute. G drives all the way down to around the 7 to 5 yard line with approx. 32 seconds left on the clock and if I remember correctly that drive consisted of mostly running, maybe one pass. Anyhow, G’s got the ball down at around the 7 to 5 yard line and I think it was 1st and goal with approx. 32 secs left on the clock. Instead of of trying to run/punch it in, it’s a pass. The kid from OR was reading it all the way and comes across the goal line and intercepts the pass. The failed extra point on G, and the interception by OR was the difference.

I thought OR looked different than what they had looked like the past 2 season. They Looked disciplined and confident. QB has good arm and I think he’s going to be able to manage the game well. Is his name Dozer; that kid is elusive. Yes, I know it was just 1qtr, but from my perspective based on what I saw tonight, I think OR’s going to be hard to handle and who knows they may end up at the top when it’s all said and done. Both teams looked really good. Looking forward to the season. Have a great weekend everyone.

  6. Neither of these two are in 3a or 4a, but I think it’s worth mentioning. It’s a rivalry that’s been going on for years. South Greene and West Greene!  It’s called the battle of the MILK CAN. SG has had the better side of it for the past decade, accept for last season. These two teams cannot stand each other. With the realignment West Greene moved down from 3a to 2a. They’re in the same region now R1/2A and with it already being an in county rivalry, the emphasis now on this game in my opinion is greater.

Should be much improved. Have about 30 kids which is pretty good for them. Return almost everyone from last year where they had to start 7 freshman and three sophomores. They’re still going to be young but should have a much better season.

    Agree

Watched them in some 7on7. In my opinion it’s probably the best they’ve looked in a very long time. Yeah it just 7on7, and will it transition to a legit game? They’re still heavily young but they have some athletes. The Vaught kid is the real deal and I could see him having a great season.  I’d like to see them have a great season. It’s been a very long time since they’ve had a really good/successful season in football. It would be good for their kids, and their school/community. We’ll see how they stack up in a couple of weeks in their 1st game against in county rivalry West Greene.

Hampton is a mystery right now, could be fairly good and could be very average. They will be different than most years. I sure wouldn't put them in a top 10 at the time. Maybe by playoff time but right now just hoping to win their region.

How many starters returning from last years team? Who’s gonna be the work horse in the back field?  The QB you guys had last year was pretty good; is he back? I still think you guys will be the team to beat in R1.

South Green - should be much improved from where they were last year.  QB management and passing should be a lot better if the o-line can get in seek. Returning at running back is senior and I remember he was quick and shifty, but he’s put on some size from weight room and I look for him to be a load this year if he’s stays healthy. They’re still heavily young with sophomores and Juniors. Freshman class I hear is very promising, but like most freshman, transitioning into HS football there’s a learning curve and speed difference.

West Greene steps into the region this year coming down from 3a. Not sure what we can expect from them.  They do have a good QB returning, but not sure how they are else where.  They lost some key players to graduation.  I think they’ll be a hit & miss, but we’ll see.

What’s Happy Valley going to bring this year?

The road in R1 will still probably go through Hampton.

  9. New season knocking at the Door and coming soon to a town near you:popcorneater: Stay Tuned.

Anderson County will still have their light show, fireworks and smoke & mirrors. They’ll should still be competitive. Can they make another run? They’re probably gonna miss those seniors. Enjoy being the hunted.

E Cyclones may struggle slightly out of the gate, but I can see them being a strong contender.

GREENEVILLE should be better than last year. I believe Coach Spradlin & staff is going to have this team dialed in.  I could see the offense being more potent especially with long the ball down field & a strong running back group. Defense will be strong and solid. I like their chances for getting to Chatta.

Sullivan East curious to see if they’ll be improved. Maybe with the excitement of Dane Davis coming from that program, it will help propel them another step forward this season.

My Congratulations to the Dream team that is for Real ! 15-0 unblemished in what appeared to be some very good calibrated competition this year. Mavs never quit and never died. Very resilient team. Accomplished what very few have done. They have been flirting state champs for a long while but this year they did it in unbelievable fashion. What a Team. It wasn't 3 or 4 players it was a team. Each and every player were the team. No specific congratulations because no championship is won by a few. All the puzzle pieces must be used to finish a puzzle. So for 2022 Mav team this was a reality that no AC team has ever done before and to each and all the Mav players, family, fans and a special thank you to All the Coaching Staff Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! You earned the most sought out award in High School Football, State Champions and the 4A Golden Football trophy will now be at home in Anderson County Tennessee (Rocky Top)

MIF all that crow you’ve ate over the years can be forgotten for now :thumb:

The MAVS did it!  Congrats to you, the other mav posters who have hung In there.  There’s a lot of CT poster, including myself, I know are happy for you personally and some other Mav posters. Going through the grind of the season and postseason to get the championship is an accomplishment, but to win it, is a huge achievement and special, especially if it the 1st.  I think a lot of CT poster would agree with me and say, enjoy and savor every minute of it. You never gave up hope, never stopped believing, and you continued to post and support your team through all the heat some of us CT poster handed you through the years. Happy for you my friend.  Enjoy it!  We’ll see ya next season

At the PC fans/posters. You guys had an awesome season and made it to championship game. There’s a lot teams  at home with no championship hardware.  Nothing to hang your heads on.  Congratulations on the silver

Greenville is cursed. Until they get Ballard to coach they’re not going back to Chattanooga.

Are you referring to Greenville South Carolina?  No need to answer that, you’ve already inserted your on foot in your own mouth .  The Greene I was referring to was GreenEville with the extra “E”  and reside in upper NET. You can google it and you will see that they beat those cyclones this year :thumb:Love ya my friend.

  12. Going to be a tall task for the Mavs.   PC been here before, and this time it’s not against Alcoa.   Maybe PC comes in and takes the lead, but the Mavs have been like nova cane, give it a few minutes and I believe they rally back for the W.

Congrats to both teams for making it this far.  I wish the best for both teams.  Please take it easy on Mavsinflight.  He’s very excited for his team, this is the 1st time for team making the trip to the championship and he is like a young man in a candy store.

    Mavs 38

    PC  37

Enjoy it MIF, cause next year Greene will start the new winning streak back over the mavs :thumb::popcorneater:

  15. AC is going to throw everything they can at Greene, and like Spike said, the AC defensive coordinator has probably been scheming Greene since the get go. Should be a great game and atmosphere.

There’s been a lot of trash talk, dream team, we’ve got it this year, and respect kinda stuff floating around all season.

Greene may have some penalties, they may not be as precise with the long ball, they may give up a long ball, or run here & there?  As mentioned earlier in the season, this year’s Greene team kinda reminds me of the 2011, especially the defenses. For me it’s Physicality!  I like the physicality and the relentless pursuit to the ball Greene brings every down. May the best team win and move on to the next round.

It’s just embarrassing to constantly look at the coacht scoreboard and see Greeneville scoring 70+ time after time. There’s no excuse to score that much especially with a running clock. There’s no other teams in the state doing that about 2-3 times a season. That’s all I’m saying. You’re the Champions of running up the score. It’s a sad fact.

It sounds like your obviously obsessed with Greene’s score.  Here’s a recommendation and a easy fix.  If you don’t like it, then stop looking/following/monitoring Greene on the coacht score board.
