  1. The thing about the HHS players is they all started the school as freshmen, which tssaa doesn't care about where you go, just as long as you finish there. Now the fun thing is that 3 players share a common address with no "guardian" living there. This is the only thing that could come into question.

Now, beech may know some things about how to get players from metro to summer county. But my understanding is as long as they started as 9th graders, they are ok, and if they do find out, they would simply just have to pay residency in sumner county and still be elidgable no matter the actual address.

You sure do know a lot about this. Thanks for the info coach.

  2. You have to ask the TSSAA on that one. It was no secret in Sumner Co or around the coaching sector. Even Joslin at JPII knew about it.

So out of everyone knowing and helping out on trying to get info out there why is MJ coach the only one suppsibly getting criticized? Seems like if anything HHS would be the one needing some attention

  3. I never said that. Gallatin was given info which I bet they checked into to see if it was accurate. Gallatin did not initiate the process. I have learned that MJ actually had more info on the situation than Gallatin had. So somebody somewhere was better at their investigation than Gallatin. All matters not however.

Interesting. I hope your accurate on your comments. Why is HHS not investigated?

  4. Looks like Hendersonville and Beech were definitely the best 2 teams in this district.

Gallatin had a great rally to savage a nice season. Wilson Central played better down the stretch after a rough start. Mt Juliet was not near as good as their faithful wanted them to be. Station Camp as I knew would be down and under achieve as usual. Lebanon went backwards instead of forwards. Portland is just too over matched. Down year for this district but I still like the setup with natural rivals. I will miss it and the crowds. I hate metro and the gates will suffer.

I totally agree that the district was down. Suprised that WC continued to fight the way they did. Everyone knows what Beech And Hendersonville bring year in and year out. I think people knew it was going to be a long year for SC. If people were more honest with themselves they would have known that MJ was going to be average. They don't have many athletes with this years team, but do have a lot of youth. I think they might be a year or two from being special. This district has been fun for theist couple of years and see many of the schools doing well in their new districts.

  5. I thought there were some front court fouls in the first half that could have been called on NE. Fouls and physical play such as going for loose balls, rebounds etc is not a bother to me. BUT when the ref's are letting high school players ( on both sides mind you) immediately hold each other in off ball situations, that is not what you want to see. They did not have control of the game. Thus players getting thrown to the ground was a reaction from the play on the floor being too phyiscal.

If I had been ref'ing the game and believe me I have done my share, the players would have either cleaned it up, or Poythress, Sheppard and few others would have been fouled out in the first half.

NOTE to all the TN refs call it tight in the beginning and if needed you can loosen it up a bit, once you let the players have a free for all, it's tought to regain control of the game......

    Good point

  6. To answer your questions, No I am not an upset parent merely a person who has played and watch high school and college basketball for a very long time. I will say that Coach Allen has gotten alot out of the players on this team.

It was obvious the game plan was to get at NE big guy....no issue there , but the constant grabbing and fouling ( that was not called) was over the top.

I have no connection to the MJ program , apparently you and serveral others do, since my post hit a nerve, I realize it's hard as a parent to see both sides. I agree the NE fan going out on the floor was crazy and as I recall she was escorted off I definatley agree with you there.

I would assume that with the career the Poythress player should have this high school game will be a distant memory. Sheppard gives all he can and is a team player, in my post I never remember attacking individual players, players do wha tthe coach asks them to do.

In my opinion, the refs were at fault for not calling the fouls .....

I have a lot more respect for this post because it is a lot more sensible. I do want to make 3 points though:

1)I do not have a kid that plays for MJ, but just support the program.

2)If we could be honest about the refs, the first half went NE side obviously. To look up at the score board and see 7 to 0 fouls within the first 10 minutes of the game is a little wierd/shady. The second half was a much better called game. MJ was very physical with the big man which got him and his team out of their element. I will have to say that he started to get physical too so fouls could be called either way.

3)The game is over and MJ won. It is time to move on and see how they fare against a good Clarksville team.

  7. I definately did not see this coming... of course I felt that the ref'ing would have been better than a WWBA game. MJ had a better game plan, and for once I witnessed Troy Allen actually out coach another coach. Chowbay and Frazier's three point baskets in the fourth qtr were huge for MJ. Chowbay played a good game from beginning to end.

It was a very physical game and the ref's were not called the leaning, pushing, pulling, fouling on the part of Sheppard and McEwen against Poythress. Too bad Allen had to go in that direction, but it was effective, classless and embarrassing but effective. I would like to see the film sent to TSSAA for review I have never seen a game where the defense can arm grab the offensive player. I have never seen a charge called when the defensive player jumps up in the air.

the problem I have with this type of play is that this type of play give the program a bad name. Clearly, this was Mj only chance at winning the game.

When the NE players could not get the ball to Poythress they froze up, poor coaching on the part of NE. Should have put Poythress at the free throw line and then if MJ double teamed him on the high post, he could have dumped it down low to #44

So MJ plays on and Poythress continues on to UK and maybe a pro career.

You have got to be kidding me. Coach Allen is a great coach and has def. out coached many others in his proffession. Are you an upset parent or something? I mean can you say something positive instead of being Nancy Negative? I guess that instead of being aggressive the MJ players should have sat back and let NE win. That might have made you feel better about yourself. Honestly, the MJ players had a great game plan and executed to a T. The only classless thing I saw was the NE parent that got onto the floor and blasted the ref.

Way to be buddy!! Way to be!!

  8. The road to the boro just ended with WC beating MJ by 10. Caleb Chowbay can't do it all. WC is a far better team they have great shooters and it showed against the Bears. Northeast is going to beat MJ because Poythress is not going to be stopped by anyone on that team.

I agree that the road just got a lot tougher, but to say that WC is a far better team is a little over the edge don't you think? They might have been better last night, but what about the previous 2 meetings? If they were far better then it would have shown record wise. I agree that last night in that one game they were the better team for a half. Good luck to all 9AAA teams in the tourney.
