We have Humboldt and Trenton this week and both should be some excitin ballgames to see..Lake County played sluggish last night against Dresden..Whitby didn't even start 2 of his starters last night with one being my fav Channin..but that is Whitby for ya..heck he may start the cheerleaders tuesday night against humboldt..seriously you never know with him..ask anyone from lake county! but back to the game..should be a good one tues night..better get there early to have a seat cause that place with be packed and it will be rockin! good luck falcon boys!

Lake County wins 65-61..Lake County girls were lucky to win tonight..They had a 9 point lead with about a minute and a half left and went 2 for 10 in the last minute from the free throw line and went 3 for 12 in the 4th quarter alone..Lake County also had a balanced attack on scoring with 4 players in double figures..Sarah Wallace had 17, Renita Kinney had 15, Tarrida Abbott had 14, and Queenie Jordan had 11...Way to go Lake County Girls!!! See ya in West Carroll Monday night!!

I think Union City will win 94 86..Don't forget that L.C has alot of seniors and with a great coach..I think Lake Co. will get up for this one tue. night..But fall short with a great effort..And i wouldn't be suprised with an upset!...Not that i can see that happen..But you never know..The Thunderdome could be stunned when the final horn blows!..We will see tomorrow night..Ill be there..Will You?

I believe Lake County will be ready for this game and if they aren't, well it could be a very long night! Ok here is the bottom line...If Lake County plays like they did against Dresden, Lake County will get run out of the gym and lose by 30 or more. If they play like they did against Halls Friday night, well then we might have a good game to watch. Like Cope said, might pull a stunner on Union City! That is just how it is! It all depends on how we come to play!

From a Union City fan, good luck to all but looks like McKenzie has WHAT it takes to make it well into the late rounds of the playoffs.

 

I have seen both teams play and McKenzie really has what it takes for a Single A team to make it into the 4th and possible " Boro " round. McKenzie knows how to keep their cool and when Union City had tied them at half time the Rebels came out in the second half and took care of business. They have runners, receivers, a BIG LINE, a very good Quarterback and a defense worth watching.

 

They ( McKenzie ) is also a very classy bunch of kids. They show the other teams respect on and off the field. From what I have been told by many the Falcons Football team went WAY overboard with celebrating after the game. No class there. They might have acted like that because they knew the next Friday night they wouldn't be that lucky. Class is walking off the field knowing you have 4 more games to go and the celebrating wouldn't take place until then. It is ok for player to yell and all but to do the " Angler & Worm " thing on the field was a little bit to much. Maybe the player do not know any better and that shows what control the coaches have over their players.

 

I can tell you this, even when Union City beat Jo Byrns @ their place they didn't show out and rub it in.

 

I really do not care just as long as a team from West Tennessee shows us up well.

 

Union City WILL be back but may be a few years.

Oh my gosh...would you please hush about who has class...you just ate your own words...Our boys were excited about the win..They have been wanting that win for a while and there is nothing like upsetting a big team and especially one that is predicted to beat you by 3 or 4 touchdowns...And as for class..ha don't even get me started with Union City..If I can remember right... last year at the Union City-Lake County game at Trenton in the region semi-finals, I do recall Xavier Robinson taunting our crowd and saying things to them...you think maybe the coach could control his players...Also during halftime, Sisco walked right in front of our crowd and said F you Mf's..yes he did because I saw him and I read his lips..So let's talk about class some more...yeah exactly...I am not the only one who saw him either, so yeah that is so much class and especially from an adult who is also a coach and supposed to show leadership and be a role model...now I think see where everyone gets all their class from over there...wow I think I may cause an uproar over this post..oh well just stating the truth....man you really ate those words right up..huh...

Well I am so proud of you guys...I wish I could have been there and I would have been had I not been on my way to Knoxville..Maybe Tennessee will win too and that will just make the weekend right there...Anyway everyone is so proud of ya'll and we all knew that ya'll could do it...Finally won the big one!! Good luck next week and I will be right there at kick-off!!

To participate in this pick up game I'll require an oxygen bottle and another ambulance (with REALLY good paramedics) for me and that's just if I'm only coaching!!!!!!!!!!! I would be a LB, and OL/receiver thing.

 

Possibly we should just round up all the kids that are always playing touch football behind the stands every Friday night and devide them up and coach them. Fewer folks in the hospital afterwards for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't need a helmet, I still have my 'ol Rebel helmet!!!! We have got it pretty bad ya'll!!

Hey backinthaoc, I've got a very good friend of mine that played at OC and then Dresden then jplayed for Murray State a few years back. I've duck hunted the 'Foot with him a lot of times in the last few years. Got any idea who I'm talking about??? I think he was a LB, Punter at OC, Dresden and Murray State.

 

Yeah Boyette's BBQ is the real deal...it is so good...The BBQ sandwich is great along with the BBQ bologna sandwich....the ribs are great too...if you are in the mood for any kind of BBQ, go here...you won't be disappointed...good luck to both teams and may we all stay injury free....go falcons

I think that this will be a very good game and I know that Union City will be rocking come Friday night. That place will be packed. That is all I have heard from Lake County fans around here. Everyone is excited and pumped up and I think mostly looking for a little bit of revenge! If Lake County comes ready to play, it should be a good night for the Falcons. If not, it will be a long ride home. I don't know if it is just me or what, but it just seems like we are intimidated by Union City. Take last year for example in both football and basketball. I don't even have to explain! Hopefully that won't be the case Friday night! I am looking forward to a good night of football! Best of luck to the Falcons!

Last sub-state appearance for LC girls was 1997 at USJ. Lady Falcons lost in OT after blowing a substantial fourth-quarter lead for the second straight year. Came a freakin' huge thunderstorm that night that flooded Bogota, and we had to all drive from Jackson back to Lake County in it. And to top it all off.....I was sick as a dog, but somehow still got stuck keeping LC's book that night. I remember that night all too well.

 

A sub-state venue in Class A has to have capacity for at least 1,000. (Guess that doesn't apply to Middleton, but I digress...) I doubt a middle school gym would fit the bill, but I'm sure Liberty would work fine.

Yeah that is right Wes. I was a that game and remember quite well. It has been since 1994 that Lake County girls upset 31-0 Gleason right? 1994 keeps coming up somewhere. I think that is when LC beat Gleason in region and went on to second round of state where Oneida beat us. I think that is right. Wes, correct me if I am wrong. That sounds right though. I don't know for sure where the game will be held. We will know for sure tomorrow.

Your exactly right Wes. I don't know how much more I can take. We have had some heart breakers this past week! The only thing to make this even a little bit better is if our girls win sub-state and advance on to sub-state!

If Lake County plays ball like in they did in the region tournament they will win. Greenfield played Madison twice last year and won both games with pretty much the same teams. One game was 20 points and the other was a close one at Madison. Madison is a good team but Lake County can beat them. Good luck and I hope to see the Lady Falcons and Lady Jackets in Murfreesboro.

What does Madison have? I thought I heard someone say they have a couple big girls. If our girls play like they have been playing, it should be a good one. Our girls are pretty pumped up and ready to go. I hope they are ready! We have had it rough in sports this past week. First both Tennessee men and women lose and then our boys and girls lost two heart breakers and to top it all off, Tennessee men lose to Kentucky. It has been rough for Lake County fans who are also Tennessee fans, which most are! Only good has to come from this and if our girls win, it will make up for all of it! Good luck to your girls also. I don't think you will have much problem with Trinity. I think we beat them in camp this summer by 25 or 30. Who knows though? It's tournament time and I believe we proved that ANYTHING can happen come tourney time! Good luck to LC and Greenfield!

Lake County travels to Jackson Saturday for their first sub-state appearance since 1994 I believe. I might be wrong, but I think that is right. I know it has been a long time! Madison beat Trinity by 20 or so points tonight at Middleton. They have a good outside shooter and a good post player from what I have heard. I don't know much about them though. I can't say who I think will win, but if our girls come out ready to play I think it should be a good game. Best of luck to the Lady Falcons! Does anyone know for sure where this will be played? I think they are trying to get it approved to be held at Parkview Middle School. I also heard Liberty and Jackson State.

We played our hearts out tonight and Lake County wanted it. You can't win them all and someone has to lose. Great job by the Greenfield girls. They fought back and won. It just seemed like out girls lost control in that last quarter and really in the last couple minutes. We shouldn't have blown that big lead, but maybe that will only make us stronger and want to win even more on Saturday. I know our girls were upset, but we are still in this thing. People go on the road to sub-state and pull out with a win. It happens every year. Our girls can do it. They are athletic enough to win a big road game. Keeps your heads high. It's not over just yet! westviewman, LC had Kayla's number. She didn't get many opportunities to score, & I don't remember her hitting a 3. She couldn't breathe wrong, or they'd call a foul, & she fouled out in the 4th.

Yeah you are right. We both missed way too many easy shots tonights! It was a very good game though and should be ever better Tuesday night! I know both sides will have a huge crowd!

As was I, & I'm still in shock as well. I think I will be until November...

I think everyone is in shock and will be for a while. I never lost faith in our girls though and I knew they could do it. If Lake County would have hit all the easy lay-ups they missed, I bet we would have won by 10 points. We missed way to many easy shots, but we pulled out of it. I am so proud of our girls! They deserve it! Way to go Lady Falcons and let's beat Greenfield and bring sub-state to our house!

I really can't make a prediction on this game. I hope LC wins, but it is going to be a war! When both these teams played in regular season, it was never really a ballgame, because players were out both times when we played each other. During the first match, Justin Clay got into trouble and didn't play and UC won. That was all our boys were talking about that night and that was all that was on their minds. We played horrible that game. The next match Union City was without four of their players and LC won. I know there are no excuses about why either team lost on these nights. We both had to play with what we had and go on. Now it's the real deal and we will just see who the best is Monday night! I know that you better get there early unless you want to be standing, because it's going to be packed on all sides. LC and UC will bring a big crowd as well as Humboldt and Halls. This will be one of the best nights of basketball you will see anywhere. Best of luck to the Falcons!

Beau Brown was the district 13A MVP from MCKENZIE..3 other people were also selected to the all district team from mckenzie. They were brice priestly, drew hayes. & darius ridings

I didn't know Drew Hayes played basketball too. How is he? I know he was wonderful in football and heard he was even better in baseball.

It does look awful suspicious..He was even limping when Union City walked in the gym but when the game started..no sign of a limp at all..

I agree with you and Humboldt, it sure is awful funny! Maybe it will all backfire on them when they play Lake County!

You MAY be right, because it's tourney time and anything can happen, but I just don't see this happening at all! Humboldt is pretty hot right now and I think they will win this one. Humboldt almost beat us without Toylon in the district championship game. I think I heard he will be back soon, so look for Humboldt to do some damage in the region with or without Smith!

You're right culleokarep...Union City and Middleton think they have the gold ball all wrapped up...Most Lake Co people feel good about our team and we have really been playing great ball the past few weeks..At the same time,I know it will be tough from here on out,no matter who we play...We know Union City has the team to beat us but we also know we can beat Union city..It's just who is on their game that night...Even though Lake Co beat humboldt 3 times..look for Humboldt to have an easy time in the region because of the bracet they are in,and be waiting on the winner of Lake Co and Union City....But..at the same time ,we have to worry about West Carrol first ,so this time of year you never know..Lake Co would have been better off losing the district championship,but I believe our team in on a hot streak and feel like they can beat anyone..They have won about 20 in a row and feel like they want to play the best and not take the easy way..I believe Lake Co is the most complete team but if Weddle is on his game and usually he is,they can beat anyone...Humboldt has the size and talent to beat anyone also..Both thes eteams are extremely talented..We will be well repesented no matter which two of the three make it to Sub-State..I know Middleton has a great team,but at this time of year the teams left now should all be capable of beating anyone..

Well since the game has been set back until Monday, I wonder if he will play. These extra few days of rest may have been good for him and he may be playing tomorrow night!

I wouldn't count Lake County or Humboldt out just yet!

I think that #10 did an excellent job in trying to contain weddle, but he still had 12 points halfway through the second quarter. If he kept going like that he would have had 30. Granted, he didn't hit a 3, but he usually takes a few minutes to get into the game.........#10 did a great job, but Weddle was just too much. and by the way, he was holding his jersey.

Why is there always so many excuses when Union City loses? Holding his jersey? It's part of basketball. If it was so obvious, the ref would have saw it and called a foul. Obviously it wasn't that bad, because I didn't see too much holding going on. They all do it, it's not just the kids from Humboldt. I have seen Union City players holding a few jersey's before too. You just can't say it's one kid, they all do it including the Union City kids. UC always talks about other teams that complain when they lose and how many excuses they always have as to why they lost. But, when UC loses all the excuses start coming in. Like you always tell us, you lost and to just go on with it. Now if Weddle doesn't play and Union City loses any of their games, I can hear them now.

What does everybody think I think LC in a close one.

I think this will be a very close game and will go to the very end. I don't think it will be like the Humboldt-Lake County game at Humboldt. Lake County was just on fire that night and I don't think anyone could have beat us on that night. I believe this will be one of the best district championships in the area! Union City got dominated tonight by Humboldt and like I said in another topic, if Lake County and Humboldt both come ready to play, it will be a very exciting game! These are two very talented teams and either could win Saturday night! If you plan on attending this game, you better get there early if you want a good seat! I know Lake County will bring a good crowd as well as Humboldt and Union City. Halls didn't have that much of a crowd tonight, but maybe they will have more Saturday night. Humboldt pretty much dominated this whole game. The score was a lot worse than what the final ended up being. They pulled out everyone and let the subs play the remaining minutes. Humboldt held Weddle tonight and even before he went out, Humboldt had a good lead. This game was over at halftime. Humboldt wanted it tonight and they got it. They couldn't miss a shot and they played extremely well. If both Lake County and Humboldt come to play Saturday night, it will be one heck of a district championship! Best of luck to both teams and maybe we will meet again in the region chamionship and both go to sub state and on to state! Has anyone heard the latest on Weddle? I saw him on the bench right after it happened and he looked like he was in a lot of pain. An ankle injury can hurt you on the court, even if it's not real bad!
