  1. It's just an opinion, because I didn't pick your team as high as you wanted, you are rooting for MJ to lose, there's a difference bewteen rooting for your team to win and rooting for another team to lose. Most folks on this board would agree MJ is the favorite, however for your benifit lets look at the record.... AAA State Runner-Up – 1983, 2009 AAA State Tournament – 1983, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 AAA Sectional – 1983, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Tell me why MJ would not be considered the pre-season favorite? They have won the sectional not only the district but the sectional 7 out of the last 9 years .....after this year maybe 8 out of the last 10 years? come on ......
  2. 1.) MJ 2.) Station Camp 3.) Lebanon 4.) Beech 5.) Wilson Central 6.) Hendersonville 7.) Gallatin 8.) Portland
  3. I definately did not see this coming... of course I felt that the ref'ing would have been better than a WWBA game. MJ had a better game plan, and for once I witnessed Troy Allen actually out coach another coach. Chowbay and Frazier's three point baskets in the fourth qtr were huge for MJ. Chowbay played a good game from beginning to end. It was a very physical game and the ref's were not called the leaning, pushing, pulling, fouling on the part of Sheppard and McEwen against Poythress. Too bad Allen had to go in that direction, but it was effective, classless and embarrassing but effective. I would like to see the film sent to TSSAA for review I have never seen a game where the defense can arm grab the offensive player. I have never seen a charge called when the defensive player jumps up in the air. the problem I have with this type of play is that this type of play give the program a bad name. Clearly, this was Mj only chance at winning the game. When the NE players could not get the ball to Poythress they froze up, poor coaching on the part of NE. Should have put Poythress at the free throw line and then if MJ double teamed him on the high post, he could have dumped it down low to #44 So MJ plays on and Poythress continues on to UK and maybe a pro career.
  4. Who are the WC pitchers Maybe I have forgotten someone.....I agree playing at the end of the year makes a difference
  5. MJ pitching is deep deep deep..... should be fun to watch... honestly they have soph's that would be in your varisty rotation.
  6. I have not coached in the league for 5-6 years..... your college roommate coached in the league, I'm assuming against me.... I can't remember.
  7. MJ cannot not stop Poythress, they will get beat by 15-20
  8. If he has college plans I would take it slow and get a good therapist. Will he or has he had surgery? Might want to google ASMI these guys helped my son with a growth plate issue.
  9. Taylor sr. pitcher at Farrgut High ( out for season torn labrum )
  10. No I did not coach the Classics but I know the team, the coach parents and the players pretty well......I have four sons all pitchers....younger than you.....but acouple of them have played against you in the summer. My daughter is a FC grad.
  11. I knew this was the case, I have known the kid and his family since he was 4 yers old. Commanderman, I was just helping you win your arguement. FC has done nothing wrong here, every school does this, there's nothing wrong in doing it, like I said good programs do this, and people move to play at good programs.
  12. I did not mention Haeberle , nails747 mentioned it, and you commetted, anyway water under the bridge.
  13. From what I understand about transfers almost every case is different. If a player attends a public school and is rostered on a team then transers ( does not move) to another school ( private or public ) said player will have to sit for a year from the date that he last played for the previous school. However I have seen players transfer from a private to a pulbic and not have to sit due economic hardships that force the player back to public school in the district that coresponds to their address. If you move ( literally move ) from one district to another for instance from Memphis area to Nashville then you would not have to sit a year. I have gone through this process twice before and each case was different. It generally involves paperwork, TSSAA and the athletic directors of both the previous school and the future school. But most of the time going from a public school to a private school when you actually move your address is not a huge issue. Keep in mind that in some school districts if you are a employee of the county school district your child can attend any public school in the county, but if you have been rostered TSSAA will decide if you have to sit a year. As for FC recruiting players, all good programs do this, Brentwood Academy, MBA, MJ and Riverdale are some that I know have done this. But I do not think that any rules have been broken.....you should do your research about a certain newspaper mogul and when the Dl and Dll levels were created and why. I personally have had children attend public schools and private schools, transer schools, been offered scholarships from private schools etc.... A summary of TSSAA Eligibility Rules is provided for your information. Read these rules carefully and be sure that you understand them. ALL ATHLETES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING THE TSSAA RULES. · A student must earn five credits the preceding school year if less than 24 units are required for graduation or six credits the preceding school year if 24 or more credits are required for graduation. All credits must be earned by the first day of the beginning of the school year. · A student must be enrolled before the 20th school day of the semester, in regular attendance, and carrying at least five full courses during the present semester. · A student is permitted eight semesters of eligibility beginning with the ninth grade. (This does not include golf, tennis or bowling.) · A registered athlete cannot accept any money for athletic skills in any TSSAA sponsored sport. · An athlete may accept a medal, trophy, high school letter, sweater, jacket, shirt, blazer or blanket for athletic participation but nothing else of commercial value, and these awards must carry the school's letter or other appropriate award emblem. · All expenses to an athletic camp where specified instruction is offered must be paid by the athlete or his parents. · When an athlete is charged tuition to attend a school, it must be paid by the parent or bona fide guardian or other family member. · Any student repeating the 7th grade after having passed the 7th grade or repeating the 8th grade after passing the 8th grade shall not be eligible to participate in athletics during their 9th grade year. · A student may not participate in an all-star game unless it is sanctioned by the TSSAA and unless he/she has completed high school eligibility in that sport.
  14. The cowbells are a bit too much.. I agree
  15. Ohhhhh....thanks for clarifying
  16. Too bad St.Louis is out for the year, as I understand it the WCHS principle is the one that has removed him from the team and not TSSAA? If that is the case I think the punishment is too harsh.... when it goes from punishing one player to punishing the entire team.... I have an issue with that... Granted he did have an issue with a Beech student after the game, but I have seen far worse..... I have seen the entire team get in a tussle and one game susp. was all that was given out. As far as the incident at MJ with Shep and St.Louis, it was not that bad.....I mean Shep pushed his buttons, good for Shep, he threw St.Louis off his game, but it was only a hard foul. I cannot see punishing him more than what TSSAA would do.
  17. I know the kid....he's got some speed.....
  18. I guess your right MJ has the most to lose....feels good though "having the most......"
  19. Re-read the post, I commented that MJ had the best pitching, You came back talking smack about the team losing a game last year, a year in which they still made it to the state tourney. Do you have a team in 9AAA? Uh.... was this your post ? "Wow, must be quite the honor for Haberle to be mentioned in the same paragraph as Smith. Plenty of good pitching in 9AAA." And you want to talk about smack talk......come on man if your going to to as far as to mention the kids (generally) names at least keep it postive...this post sounds a little "green" if you know what I mean..... yo dont hear me saying things and getting personal about it.
  20. Last year? whatever.....you mean last year when these boys that are now sr's and jr's were Jr's and soph and we still went to state? Obvisouly your not a MJ fan, and that's fine.....but if you run into them this year, you should throw your best to have a chance..... I'm not some kid posting MJ has the best pitching, I'm saying that they have the deepest pitching and some of the best pitching. I don't know of another school at least in the middle part of the ste that comes close.
  21. MJ takes 9AAA like candy from a baby................. Have the deepest pitching staff of any school in the state
