  1. No word on that yet. I know it is pretty close to determined, however. That is part of the hiring negotiations. He says who he wants to bring and BA bumps that against available positions on the faculty.
  2. Coach Potter has been in the works for a while. They only interviewed GQ when Coach Potter did not immediatly accept. GQ really turned their heads. They would have obviously been thrilled with GQ, but technically Coach Potter was the first choice.
  3. ImaOwl predicted it the week BA played McCallie during the season. In all fairness uncfan13 gave you grief and called you an "Ooltewah Neck". I and BA posters just declined to confirm your info because I had no idea back then.
  4. You called it a long time ago. Now, level with me. Did you get lucky or where did you get your clue?
  5. Here is the official release: For Immediate Release DATE: January 1, 2007 Ralph Potter Named Brentwood Academy Football Coach Following a nationwide search, Brentwood Academy Headmaster Curt Masters has announced the hiring of Ralph Potter of Chattanooga to serve as head football coach and as athletic director. Coach Potter, a highly successful coach and leader at The McCallie School in Chattanooga, brings strong experience in mentoring, teaching and coaching. With a major in history education, and a minor in English, he brings an academic background and teaching experience as well as his work in the athletic arena. In addition to his role as head coach at McCallie for the past eight years, he has been a Girls Track Coach at both Hixson High School and Girls Preparatory School, Girls' Head Basketball Coach at GPS, and has worked with baseball at various levels as well. He has also served as Fellowship of Christian Athletes faculty sponsor and an Honor Council advisor. Given his deep roots in the Chattanooga area, Brentwood Academy feels fortunate to be able to have him to join us. Potter's father, Pete Potter, coached at McCallie, Potter himself is a 1981 McCallie graduate and a graduate of UT Chattanooga. Potter's experience in this exceptionally competitive environment will help make this a smooth transition, as he is familiar with Brentwood Academy and with the teams in the league and community. His wife, Jennifer, is also an experienced educator and currently teaches at Hickory Valley Christian School. They are the parents of a son and a daughter. According to Headmaster Curt Masters, "Ralph Potter's spiritual depth and consistent focus on the value of each person has helped to develop strong teams and coaches who understand the real purpose of athletics. This personal focus, and his energy and dedication, make him an ideal addition to the Brentwood Academy team of faculty and staff, dedicated to nurturing and challenging the whole person - body, mind, and spirit - to the glory of God. I look forward to working with Coach Potter. Potter will join the Brentwood Academy faculty immediately.
  6. The BA job is a promotion....I should leave it at that, just to make uncfan lose his mind at me It is a promotion, however, because he is also the athletic director at BA. McCallie has an athletic director that will be there for a while.
  7. uncfan13, always trying to pick fights. I was trying to say that the Coach Potter decision will not come down to who has the most money. I was not talking about whatever you say he has promised after he dies. I was talking about the Time Warner debacle. Hey, the last time I saw you attack someone that you claimed was so ignorant was the "Ooltewah necks" I believe you called them. You know - when they were ignorant and wrong about Coach Potter's interest in Brentwood Academy. You remember that one?
  8. I think the better word would be "accurate". "True" would indicate that I was making a promise or a prediction. "Rumor" indicates that I am passing something on that may or may not be true as a message board service, thus not subjuct to scrutiny by anyone other than a poster who cruises threads looking for somthing to scrutinize. I hope that I have made your message board day. You have provoked me into making my first "prediction": Ralph Potter will be the next coach and athletic director at Brentwood Academy. If I am wrong this will set you up for another fun filled day of scrutiny.
  9. My point is that Ted Turner will have nothing to say about this. By the way to bad Ted never deliverd on the rest of his pledge.
  10. I know of nothing from BA other than an interview. My info came from McCallie friends who think Coach Potter will go if BA makes an offer. It is not all about money. McCallie has been around for a lot longer than BA. They have a lot bigger endowment and a lot more alum (bigger school that has been around a lot longer). There will be no bidding war, however. He gets paid well at McCallie and he would get paid well at BA. I understand that Coach Potter is a strong Christian and it may come down to where he wants his kids to go to school. It does not make one school better than another but everyone has different priorities and preferences.
  11. My source in Chattanooga says Potter will be the next coach. Call this a solid rumor.
  12. I understood many of the players were talking about being a little drained after that tough Giles Co. game. Some of them them were a little worried about how they would do last night. It could have something to do with rest. That is just a guess.
  13. Giles Co is very good and very well coached. Most of their shots were from inside 4 ft after they worked it in with great ball movement. Brandon Brown and his dad live in Mt Juliet and he owns a business in Nashville. However, I am thinking I remember something about he being originally from Pulaski. I am not sure, however.
  14. Do you claim to have more knowledge of "what Coach Flatt likes" or how everyone else will remember him? This must be some sort of super power or something.
  15. Those are mainly Lavergne kids, but close enough.
  16. Admissions day was a few weeks ago. There were actually more Una applicants than normal. Of course, as always, more will go to Antioch. It is 3 times larger at least.
  17. That is what BA expected. I am surprised it is taking him so long to make it official.
  18. I am working hard to keep beating. Since no announcement was made yesterday, I think there will be a delay. Curt Masters is having some surgery today and I don't think much will happen while he is under the weather. I think the delay is because offers are being considered, soul searching that sort of thing. That is all speculation on my part, but I have got to keep a pulse of some sort.
  19. Although he was my favorite, it appears it is not to be.
  20. My understanding is that he feels more philosophically aligned with BA. Not a right or wrong issue - a personal taste issue. His daughter graduated from BA. He even lives in Brentwood. I am pretty sure that he is not alligned enough to take a pay-cut, however.
  21. That is exactly what I am hearing. They have made an offer to Coach Quarles, but do not expect him to accept. They feel if BA was located in East Tennessee, he would accept (just to illustrate the situation). I would be thrilled with Coach Potter, as well, but have not heard much about him since the interview. I hate seeming like such a scavenger, but I hope everyone talkes it as a compliment. Unless Coach Quarles surprises - it will be Coach Rutledge (insert my standard educated rumor disclaimer).
  22. Coach Rutllede is a strong contender. The announcement will come by tomorrow.
  23. Okay, here is the latest from my sources. I will still call all of this rumor, but "educated rumors". Believe it or not the Owl info has some merit. Coach Potter is in the mix. However, I do not think that it is unusual for all top coaches to talk when any good job comes open. Coach Flatt interviewed for a couple of jobs during his career at BA. Several opinion makers were blown away by their visit with Coach Quarles and his wife. His Christian values and passion for football impressed. However, the general feel is that it would take at least a ton of money to uproot him from East TN. Nothing that he said, but he has a good thing and is happy at home. BA went from a "general visit with a top coach" to "very interested". Very stong chance of an offer being made. They were already impressed with Coach Rector and he still remains the favorite. There will be some dark horse alum interviews from the current staff and of course you can't rule out Coach Brothers. Something could come today or this weekend.
  24. I heard that deal fell through. It is rumored that he wanted to clean house all new coaches and BA did not want to be that radical.
  25. Near the end of the day at BA and Coach Quarles was on campus. He had a long meeting. However, I am still hearing Coach Rector is leading with Coach Brothers to go.
