  1. Yep fairgrounds is the stadium of choice. It's next door to the Liberty Bowl
  2. Nashville will NOT win a game in Memphis. 4A Pearl comes to North Memphis - leaves with a loss and some banged up bodies 5A Hillsboro goes to East Memphis and get dominated by a Ridgeway team that just thrashed the defending champs. 6A Ravenwood travels to Graceland to challenge Da Haven. We know how this one will end - respect tha haven Memphis will go 3-0
  3. I think they are from all over the city. Magnet schools........
  4. So is the team from the same area or do kids come to Pearl to play football? I heard kids from all over can go to magnet schools. Oan how can I watch highlights of Vaughn?
  5. How disciplined is Pearl? Hope they don't fold easily. Trezevant will hit them in the mouth early and often. North Memphis Bears should have some good turkey legs as well......
  6. Pearl will travel to Memphis in what will be a classic. Who ya got?
  7. Can't wait. I'm glad PC will b representing y'all's community next week n Memphis. Gonna b epic!!!
  8. Trezevant is looking very poised, calm, and discipline
  9. I honestly would like to see PC come to Memphis. I just had to start sum stuff
  10. I totally agree. A lot of players don't pass the "look test" so they don't get D1 attention even though they may be a heck of a player. Johnny Jones is a heck of a player and has great size. Has he been to any camps?
  11. Sounds like you don't think the North Memphis Purple Bears will beat Crockett. Is it because they from the M? Or are you a slick Crockett Co fan? I still like PC to beat WH. You will soon see...
  12. Here are the rankings of Memphis teams from the newspaper. Each class is solid from top to bottom. Should be a sweep. Boys Basketball Preseason Dandy Dozen The high school basketball season tips off Monday. Here is a look at the boys preseason Dandy Dozen. 1. Hamilton The scoop: Todd Day is back to lead his alma mater to what should be a state-title run. Memphis commitments K.J. and Dedric Lawson are the stars and 6-3 guard Romero Hill will supply plenty of offense as well. The key will be how quickly point guard Jordan Cummings progresses. 2. Mitchell The scoop: The Tigers won the Class A state title last year, but coach Faragi Phillips insists the focus is not defending but on “becoming a better team based on our daily habits.†Seniors Jeremiah Martin (18.9 ppg.), Naba Echols (11.4, 4.8 assists, state tournament MVP) and Kylan Phillips (9.8 ppg) lead. 3. Westwood The scoop: This year’s team could recall the hoops glory days of Westwood, which last won the state title in 1986. Toriano Stokes, a 6-7 senior, is a first-rate talent and if point guard DeMarcus Johnson comes through, the sky’s the limit. 4. Southwind The scoop: Sweet-shooting Eric Turner tore his ACL in the offseason, but the Jaguars still have plenty on hand. Future Ole Miss player Donte Dorsey leads the way, with Jacob Patton and Mark Freeman offering quality support. Transfer guard Kevin Cheatham is a huge addition. 5. Overton The scoop: Veteran coach John Anderson doesn’t have the star names, but the Wolverines will win a lot of games. Guard Jerry Hurt (15.5 ppg) and wing Keith Wilson (11.4) are solid veterans. Overton also boasts the sons of two former Memphis Tigers, Paris London Jr. and freshman guard Jordan Johnson, son of Mingo. 6. Briarcrest The scoop: Four starters — all juniors — return for a team that went 19-10 and lost in the D2-AA semifinals. Wing Micah Taylor (13 ppg.) is attracting lots of recruiting interest and point guard Mark French is a terrific floor leader. Will Hrubes and Maceo Woodard should also flourish. 7. Central The scoop: After a down season last year, Ricardo Patton’s squad will be right back in the mix. Darious Thompson, Demetrius Jackson, Antonio Gillespie and Melrose transfer Bradley Walker form a great nucleus. 8. Ridgeway The scoop: It will be another dogfight in 15-AAA and the Roadrunners will be a factor as always. Senior Khalil Spencer and junior Javion Hamlet will get a boost with the addition of Southwind transfer Julian Richardson and promising freshman guard Tyler Harris. 9. Bolton The scoop: The Wildcats will be the favorite in 14-AAA behind highly regarded junior guard Jaylen Fisher, who has offers from Memphis and UConn among others. He’ll combine with Malik Ross to form a fine backcourt. 10. Houston The scoop: The Mustangs made great strides last season and will look to continue the momentum behind Western Kentucky signee Marlon Hunter and superb junior Justin Benton. Ryan Boyce (6-5) is a skilled freshman. 11. White Station The scoop: Not many teams can lose four D-1 starters and still be competitive. But Nych Smith, who should be among the area’s top scorers, Dillon Mitchell and Victor Lacey will ensure the Spartans don’t drop off too much. 12. Lausanne The scoop: Kenneth White’s team should challenge for the D2-A state championship. Isaiah Stokes (12 ppg., 8 rpg), Spencer Mackey (12 ppg.) and James Babb (12 ppg., 6 rpg) are back and the Lynx will get a boost with the return of Camren Taylor, who played on the varsity as an eighth-grader but missed last year with injury. Keep an eye on: Arlington (AAA semifinalists will rebuild behind Nathan Hoover and Adarius Avery); Center Hill (talented Carter Sweat leads DeSoto’s top team); Cordova (key transfers will benefit the Wolves); Douglass (LaGerald Vick unquestionably one of the top players in the state); East (Rodarius Washington leads a very young but very talented group); Germantown (three starters back, led by Darrell Brown); St. George’s (UC-Irvine signee Justin Wertner the best of a veteran bunch).
  13. I hope PC wins this one. They should off of pure talent. Who has the coaching edge? PC or WH? Who will welcome Trezevant in the semis?
  14. Lol you're funny. Good luck CC versus the "undisciplined" athletes from Trezevant. Never mind the great coaching staff that was able to do a 360 with the team and deal with a 1000 more circumstances than CC staff, and still have the kids ready to compete each week. Great job to Coach T. White & co. Up next, White House
  15. I've done mine and the conclusion is Trezevant is far more athletic and gritty than PC. PC is closer to a Crockett Co type of team. Only way PC can get the North Memphis Bears is if they are extremely deep because most of the Purple Bears go both ways.
  16. Exactly. 4.3 40 means scholarships. So who is recruiting this young man?
  17. Seems like you're trying to give Crockett some bulletin board material
  18. #1 Jamal Jones is better than Johnny Jones, however Johnny is very good. I respect his game #2 At what point in the last 2-3 years has Trezevant shown that they are NOT disciplined? #3 This will be the most physical game Crockett has played. Believe it. North Memphis Bears hit hard and grind. grit and grind #4 Alamo and Maury City will get will get infiltrated with disciplined athletes that are fast, hit hard, and are led by an experienced staff that have been to the big dance, learned from mistakes, and these seniors are ready to build on a semifinal loss last year. I will sit back and watch
