  1. I do not believe that Cane Ridge will go down without a fight. Very good team. I am just predicting that Ravenwood will win at the end of the night. Yep I could be wrong and if that's the case than Cane Ridge will have done a good job and I'm sure will give the next team all they can handle. I don't know why being a metro school would make them worse when Ravenwood has both won and lost (including getting boat raced by Overton last year) to metro teams.

Wow didn't expect these scores. Cane Ridge pulls it out and Ravenswood destroys Blade and Independence. Not sure about the run to cookeville though yet. Lots of better ballers to go through for your Raptors....

    johnny just sayin

All they have to do is beat Cane Ridge and a down-ish whitehaven team and there in. Both teams are very good still. But What happens in Cookeville? I don’t know. I just hope they can make it in the semifinals because I’ve not been in the midstate this season and can make it back during thanksgiving.

Yes it is.  Would be very similar to HHS not making it in last year at 7-3.

This is an unpopular opinion but that's why the TSSAA playoff system used from 2009-14 was the best. You win 7 games you should be in the playoffs, you win 4 you should not. Not every region deserves four teams in, while some deserve more. Lenin and the Bolsheviks would love the existing system. "But our schedule was hard!" Bummer. You can't play that card in college football so you shouldn't be able to high school football either. "But we have to travel out of state to find game every year! Poor us!" Bummer for Rutherford teams. You schedule RePublic and complain about having to play Hoover or Bowling Green to fill the schedule. Bring back the Z-plan

  4. Ravenwood's freshman many years ago beat Ensworth. Ensworth would go onto win multiple state titles while Ravenwood endured several years of 2-3 win seasons. A few years later RHS has some horrendous 9th grade records whose players would go onto win a state title as seniors.

Spring Hill and it was their AD that did the schedule. Nothing against Daniels....Don't know him.  I do know they have a couple chumps on the lower levels of their staff that are morons.  Won't mention names though.

That's interesting. I would expect more from our AD. Oh well, the Raiders do have talent and Ravenwood is outperforming expectations this year. It would've been a great game between two good teams this year.

The problem is we tried to schedule Ravenwood and was told "you all have too many athletes and we need to schedule wins" so they scheduled Page and Fairview.  That tells me they are scared of competition.

I agree with Love that Daniels is doing a good job but the jury is still out.

Page has always had a speed problem ever since Indy opened up.  Which makes me question why and what Ravenwood gets out of playing them.

Honestly just curious, what program are you with right now. I've been out of the midstate for awhile now and haven't been following TN HS FB as closely so I genuinely don't know what team tried to schedule Ravenwood.

As for trying to schedule easy wins, the previous coach made the schedule and was the type who would have turned down offers to play good competition. Daniels soon after being hired was able to swap out Rhea Co late because the travel would have been hard but other than that is stuck with the current contracts for the next two years. When he gets the chance I'm sure he'll schedule some good teams.

  7. Last time I checked Siegel is a 6A team. I understand through, Page and Fairview want to play good competition.

Page is not the sleepy, small country school anymore. Growth in the area is on fire and soon they will be equal in numbers with the "traditional" big WilCo schools.

Not located full-time in the midstate anymore so last night was the first time I saw the Raptors this season. Coach Daniels is going a heckuva job. Historically it's been feast or famine for Ravenwood in terms of season-by-season results, so we'll see if this team can make a deep run this year.

  8. Because the developers are too busy paying off the Government officials making them rich off the taxpayers. You know like the ones licking their chops to get the fairgrounds to develop.

    Money=Political corruption!

That is the greatest post in the history of coacht.
  9. The varsity was fine. The young guys struggled. Loads of people are running track this spring. It was also clearly MJ's super bowl after getting smacked around twice last year by RHS. Ravenwood historically has had bad springs, even the spring before the state title run after the loss the year before saw a smackdown by Marshall County.

I haven't missed a game in six years, and a home game in even longer than that. I will be relocating late this summer to another city so I'm gonna have to follow the Raptors from a distance. I will prowl the message boards and YouTube for highlights cause I would be lucky to make one game this fall.

  10. No relation to Jack Daniels. Matt Daniels was the DB's coach last year. Before that, he coached in Falls Church, VA just outside of Washington. This is a great hire because the Ravenwood community wanted to stay in house. Coach Daniels give the Raptors a great chance to navigate the toughest district in the state.
