  1. I really feel like if you talked to the coaches around the state the "recruiting" going on is not the problem. The fact of the matter is these schools that are "private" have such an advantage with money that they have the best facilities, coaches, training that is so unfair it needs to be addressed. No coach that I know would back down from playing the best teams across the state. My kid just played for one. But my kid's coach has to worry about spending 1000 dollars on equipment and uniforms and travel whereas there is a school in Knoxville that just spent over 200,000 on a football field and they are thinking about joining our district. Go look at CPA's website and judge what's going on. I read where they went and ate at a country club just to change things up from 2008 from their pregame meal! It is what it is. The lack of funding for our public schools (which gets worse every year) compared to the open tab these CPA's, CAK's Catholic's, etc have is getting crazy. Someone or somebody has to make it right. I bet Tony Jones wishes he would have went to a D2 school to make his 1 year in high school worth it!
  2. You do realize Rowan didn't play in the game at Stone
  3. I don't get it- Mcminn Central shoots 72 times-35 of those were three point attempts-doesn't make anything and still hangs around for a chance to win. The big girl for Obion Co wasn't a factor at all til late in the game plus she fouls out. I don't follow girl's basketball much but I did watch those games wednesday and if stone plays defense and doesn't turn the ball over a lot this game could be a good one to watch. I know Obion thinks they have won this thing but it looked like to me if Mcminn Central had shot the ball well at all they would be playing Stone.
  4. It was 2 teams knowing what the other is doing. After playing 4 times it usually comes down to who wants it more. The reason Alcoa didn't put Stone away is the tables were turned in the 2nd half. Stone pressed them and they didn't handle it well. The reason Shown didn't have his best game was probably going up against Brandon Cole will do that sometimes. 2 evenly matched teams playing hard ended up like it should. I don't think the refs were that bad. They let em play. Yeah they missed some on both ends, but the worst one I saw was the double dribble Tate pulled off. They even showed that one on the Knoxville news channel.
  5. Why would you feel bad for Alcoa? Jones starts harping on the refs at the tip off and they play aggressive. That's a recipe for some whistles not going your way. I'm glad they didn't blow it on the very last play. The kid never touched Dean on the lay-up attempt.
