  1. Congratulations to both teams - what a game.  I am a BA fan through and through,  but after a game like that I hate that a team had to lose.  Gotta love the fact that the game was decided on a gutsy call and a well executed play vs. a mistake or a blown call .

It was a gutsy call at the end. On the scoring run in the 2nd OT by #4 for BA - was there a block in the back on #28 for MBA back around the 15 yard line?

  2. I have not seen NCS play so I really can't comment on them.  I have seen CPA and they would struggle in Division II AA.  They have some really good players but do not have the depth and overall team speed to compete.  The Omer kid for CPA is a great player and would start on any Division II team that I have seen.  Just not enough like him to be competitive.

  3. That with CPA winning state in baseball and soccer today the only major men's sports team that didn't win a state championship is basketball. It's almost like bringing in players from out of state messes w the chemistry. I'm glad that Ingle Martin has stayed true to the players he has and he's done a amazing job w this team and I think the whole CPA community is more proud about the football program than the basketball program because the football program keep its integrity

This post is really off base. Not sure how you say Ingle Martin has stayed true to the players he has. The school is very close to the Davidson/Williamson County line and in the public school arena would lose athletes based on this. Would not have players from Williamson, Davidson and possibly other counties. That is the very reason private schools should not play in the public division - they have the ability to draw students outside of their zone or county.

  4. That would indeed be the case. CPA, Goodpasture, CAK, Knoxville Catholic, and Lipscomb would all probably fall in the D-II Class AA classification with BGA. They still wouldn't be classified with Ensworth, Brentwood Academy, MBA, Father Ryan, McCallie, etc.

Lipscomb Academy according to their website is the largest private school in Middle Tennessee. Not sure of the total enrollment in grades 9 through 12 but much larger than Ensworth, BGA, MBA, etc. By the way Ensworth has approximately 400 students in grades 9 through 12. Not sure your analysis is correct. Lipscomb Academy would be in the large private school division with BA, MBA, FRHS, McCallie. Ensworth falls in the lower division but plays up in the larger division. Not sure there would be more than two divisions if the split occurs.

  5. Congratulations to MBA on a great season and winning the state championship! Respectfully, Menace, your post is so far out of line and incorrect it is challenging to respond to. Just a few things - before you stated that Ricky Bowers had taken it to some new level did you read the published reports that BA actually has more athletes that are receiving financial aid. Great for BA and the people that contribute their money to facilitate this. I am in favor of kids receiving financial aid and wish more had the opportunity to possibly improve their future. Nashville State? Seriously? If you have any evidence or proof of this just contact the TSSAA. That is the best way to deal with that matter rather than on a public forum. No conspiracy theory - the TSSAA is not afraid of any school even Ensworth. Parents make decisions all the time for what they believe is in the best interest of their child. If you believe that an all male environment with Latin classes is the best for your child and your family - great. Send your child to MBA. If not then don't. I am personally grateful that Nashville has many good options for schools both public and private. Calling out a young man by name on a public forum - classless. Finally - here is what I have to say about and to the Frist family - Thank you! What started with Dr. Frist, (Sr.) and others has been an immeasurable benefit to the Nashville community and countless people have been impacted by the company that they started. If the Frist family chooses to support a school then great for them and better for the kids that have their lives impacted from their contributions. Let's get back to discussing high school sports.

  6. Literally have played the 6a state champs the past two years. Ever heard of Maryville? Webb schedules tough out of conference. Played Ensworth 2 of the past 3 years. Peoples schedules out of conference change. It is not rocket science.

Keep whining though...Makes you all look good. Again.... Don't get mad...get better.

Lets get back to the games. Anybody with a scouting report on the west teams?

Need to keep your story straight.  Webb has not played EHS in football 2 of the 3 past years.

  7. here we go again...BA versus MUS

BBD - what are your thoughts on this game? Will Dawson Know be able to play any this year in the playoffs? Jeremiah Oatsval has done an incredible job this year coming in.

  8. Right On!! Tennessee ranked 6th as a state nationally according to Cal Preps and D2 is ranked the 5th best division nationally. Throw in those Murfreesboro teams and Ravenwood this year and Nashville could possibly rival any city in the country. This game is one of the biggest we have seen in a while. Should be a great cold night for football. Lets hope the rain hold off....If we can survive the music at Ensworth I like our chances.

Baylor - they turned the music down for you......
  9. Congrats to Ordway for making some big plays against 1.

Cats if anything proved they got plenty of fight left in them, that game really never mattered, these next two matter. Lock in and let's focus on Spring Hill.

Ordway is a player. After watching him tonight - looking forward to seeing him at the next level.

  10. I've seen McCallie on film but not in person, so I'll defer to your knowledge. Craig is a dynamic quarterback and has many weapons, and I suspect they'll score 35-plus. The game I saw on film was the JPII game, in which the Knights moved the ball quite effectively on the Tornado in the first half. Based on that defensive display, I have to think the Eagles will be able to put up a lot of points, too.

Wes - I was wrong, way wrong. Congratulations to the Eagles!

  11. Looking forward to the game tonight. Praying for both teams to play well and no injuries. The Giles County program has a great tradition and will be back. The Brickyard is a great place - really enjoyed watching Bo Wallace play even though the Cats beat my nephew's team.

  12. McCallie will score plenty of points, but I'd be shocked if it was a three-score game. Not sure who will win, but I'll put the over-under at 80 and the spread at single digits.

Wes - I have watched both BA and McCallie. Pulling for BA - but McCallie is that good. My guess is that it will be McCallie by three scores - 42 to 21 McCallie.
  13. My feeling on d2 is Ensworth is not quite where they have been previous few years but the top 5 have more parity. We will learn a lot this week and I will more than likely drive down to the baylor - mccalie game if it does not rain.

I will leave it to others to debate Ensworth's level compared to other years. What I do know is that this year's McCallie team is the best team that I have seen in D2 this year. And yes, I have seen MBA, BA, FRHS, MUS, etc

  14. I have heard from many reliable people inside the Father Ryan community that its Bruce Lussier’s last season as the head coach for the Fighting Irish. Just want hear if anyone else had heard the same thing because I have been hearing this sheet music for years.

Not sure why he would be retained based on his results - record. Plus, his program allows very poor behavior on the field.

  15. Very disappointed to hear that Brentwood Academy's Sr starting QB Dawson Knox is essentially lost for the season after getting to play only a little more than a half of football at this position in his sr season. Such a tough game. Kids work hard for multiple yrs and in so many instances don't achieve that starting position until they are Srs and then these things happen. My heart goes out to this kid and others in the same situation. I'm sure Dawson was not the only one last night but it is tough on these young man to handle things like that. Puts the winning and losing in perspective

I agree with you totally. We have know Dawson and his family for many years and his work ethic and the effort he put in the last several years in football was incredible. Prayers for this exceptional young man.

  16. It sounds cliche, but BA reloads, not rebuilds. They have a massive athletic line. I like the Eagles this year without pause.

Their line is massive, very talented and can play with any of the other teams in DII.  The question is the performance of their skill guys?  The departure of CJ Sanders leaves a big void for a very talented quarterback Dawson Knox.

  17. This one got my attention too, but Tyner is abusing this kid. He pitches complete games 2-3 times a week. He has almost double the innings pitched as any other pitcher in Chattanooga. Talented kid, but its ashame they are abusing his arm this way.

I saw Baylor this year and they are down a little bit - still good but not as good as last years team.  A coach should never pitch (Abuse!) a kid the way you described it - "complete games 2-3 times a week".
