  1. Point well taken about the Ensworth game - except that the Fleming and Pope kids were in that game and the Fleming kid is always tough to beat. So add to the list a win over Boliver and MBA for FRA - not bad for a DII-A sized school. But the point is that from Christmas until tournament time they play really weak teams.

For the 2012/2013 season only Grant Pope was on the roster for Ensworth and yes he did play against FRA. Gary Pope has graduated.
  2. Not a coaching problem at all and you are correct - FRA is loaded with talent. The problem lies in the weakness of the division in which FRA plays. They don't start having any real competition until tournament time. Their schedule prior to Christmas break includes some good teams - Ensworth (won), Baylor (lost by 3), JPII (lost by 5), Father Ryan (lost by 10) - which FRA held their own against. After Christmas, division play starts. FRA went undefeated from that point and won every game by at least 20, with their starters on the bench after the half or earlier. Hard to be prepared after that for teams in the West, who play a tough schedule all year. Not an excuse but simply an explanation of how this can happen.

Don't read too much into a win over Ensworth at that point in the season. The Ensworth team was missing a number of players that had just finished the football season in the championship game the night before. I agree with your post - just want to clarify that the Ensworth team that FRA beat that night was not the full roster.
  3. Josh Goodwin out at Sycamore will probably be looking to move. Having to coach both the Boys and Girls teams I would assume is not something he wants to do. Good coach.

Geeman is out considering his son is done, we will have to wait for Coach Farmer to log on and hopefully give us the down low over at Ezell. Some of the rumors floating around are pretty crazy.

Ty Wilson at Maplewood is a joke. A Doc Shelton disciple who is more about the "show" then the actual game. This guy should have never gotten a head job. Plus Maplewood is losing everything.

Our family has known Josh Goodwin for nearly ten years while he has worked with our son. He would be an excellent choice! Not only is he a good coach he has a great ability to connect with young people and is an exceptional person.
  4. Yeah not sure Hubie would leave right now. Does anyone know why they finally let the coach go? Should have been done alot sooner in my opinion. Doubt you are going to get Sonn to leave a good situation he has at Goodpasture. Pierce seems to be pratty comfortable at FRA but with the jr. high studs all bailing he might to. BA went to Texas to hire their football coach, who is to say they wont open it up like that again. Supposedly Charlie Ward was up for the football job, maybe he would be interested in the basketball job. Im sure the job will draw alot of attention.

    What is the issue?
  5. Not yet plumb, just working. Saban during his LSU days liked to " stretch" the no contact rules to the max. Father of a fullback that ended up at UT told me how impressed his son was by a visit he received from Saban during a no contact period. When word got out about some of the "bad timing visits" Saban had to back off the recruiting of his kid. No big deal, I'm sure this is standard practice by alot of coaches. Let me guess tornadoes78, you just can't believe it!

WB85 this response proves the point that countless others and I am trying to make. An unnamed father of an unnamed player alleges something and it is repeated anonymously on a message board. The penalty was that Coach Saban "had to back off the recruiting of his kid". I haven't done a lot research on this but on a first look I didn't recognize this as a defined NCAA penalty for an infraction. On another point Coach Saban was at LSU from 2000 to 2004 so this had to have occurred at least 8 years ago. Given the heated rivalries these things most likey would be reported to the NCAA.

  6. Sorry plumb69, you must be Alabama or Kentucky fan. Coach Cal has a long line of misdeeds and Saban wasn't far behind. Both have cleaned up their act because of the success they now have. As for the local stuff, why don't you answer some questions for me about what is cheating. I really don't know what you can and can't do. How about recruiting? Can a coach ask a player to come play for his HS? What about not paying tuition if a kid is out of zone? Is that ok? What about suspensions being different for players vs non players? Are any of these things wrong in the eyes of the TSSAA?

WB85 - please explain exactly Nick Saban has done? To the point of the earlier posts - it is very easy on an anonymous message board to spew out falsehoods. Simple challenge to you - put up or shut up.

  7. Thank you kind sir for policing my post and you have a valid point. I did notice you seem to have failed to critique other's on this thread for some very obvious grammattical fopaux's. I will just assume this is an oversight on your part and will await your response to correct this error. That is unless you're just trying to belittle one individual and not everyone and should that be the case then I have no time for someone like that and will view your posts as irrelevent and biased.

    Dictionary.com - suggests "faux-pas".

  8. The problem with open school zone is then the issue of possible recruitment and kids having their tution paid for or no tutio at all. To what extent this happens; who knows; but we do know it probably does.

I've seen coaches from private schools show up at scrimmages of public schools wearing shirts from their private schools trying to talk with kids after the games.

If you see this happening why wouldn't you take a picture and report it to the TSSAA?
