  1. Yes, I believe HV is moving into the District 4. They will face stiffer competition but Renegar worked on preparing his team for that by getting them some non district games that proved to be tough competition. Next year might be tough for them as they change districts and have a new coach.

  2. I am not sure that Dove is a teacher and that would disqualify him from the position. Joe Michalski currently teaches at the school and has served as one of the assistance working with the pitchers and catchers. He was a catcher himself in college and I believe he played some minor league baseball for a short time. There will be a lot of interest in the position because Renegar left it in very good shape and the team is on the way up.

  3. Sheffield will for sure mature, Seranno has had a few rough outings this year but always keeps his cool, and Farragut most of the time plays great defense and gives plenty of run support. Those things help a pitcher untold! Farragut will win it all this year!

  4. I agree it heckling shouldn't happen, but I have seen it at every level. Some high schools are worse than others. I personally know a pitcher in this area that was heckled something awful by two high schools in Knox County. I think it is terrible, especially at the high school level, but I don't know what could be done about it. Many high school athletes work very hard at their sport and make great sacrifices to represent their school and they should be treated with respect by the opposing team. Maybe AD's could attend the games and address it with the student body.

  5. These are high school kids playing baseball at a very competitive level, and if young Sheffield became frustrated he should be cut a little slack because of his young age, he is only a junior in high school isn't he? Heckling is just part of the game and most of the time is just done in fun but it can get out of hand and the adult fans should reign it in when it shows extremely poor sportsmanship. Sheffield does need to get used to though because as he moves on to college and maybe beyond it only gets worse. He must learn to shake that off and ignore it.

  6. Tommy Weiler! Complete game ... The intangibles that you can't scout or recruit. This young man will be winner for the right program that gives him an opportunity!

Weiler comes through in a big way every time he takes the mound! He is a lefty and brings great stuff every outing!

  7. Who are FHS top four pitchers for 2013? Weiler is a senior at HV and he locates well, changes speeds and performs well under pressure. Neeley just finished his freshman year so it remains to be seen if he will even get many starts, Farragut and Bearden have long established programs while HV has only fielded a team for a maybe four or five years.

  8. I think it's a done deal.

I think not! Bearden would be a high pressure job. Why would Rice leave a place that does not even have summer conditioning for the team and move where the expectation from the boosters would be over the top for the same amount of money? It would be a lateral move for Rice that would involve much more work and time away from his family.

  9. Grace's 2011 District Football Results

    Grace 28 Rockwood 0

    Grace 40 Greenback 0

    Grace 39 Tellico 0

    Grace 69 Midway 0

    Grace 49 Harriman 0

    Grace 225 District 0........

Even a moron like me knows that this ain't no even playing field.

Also noticed that Grace has road games this year at Franklin Road & South Pitt

I guess travel time and expense are only issues for District games.

I am not a fan of Grace on any level, but they are a local school here in Knoxville where I live and I follow them because my kids have friends that go there. Let me say that Grace plays some schools around here outside their district and I believe they lost most of the games such as Karns which was 7th. in 3AAA. They are not that good, but they work very hard. If you are in their district I suggest you stop whining and put your kids on some competitive summer teams, send them to camps, and do the work that necessary to get better! You can't expect to compete without putting the work into it!

  10. I would say Halls will throw painter against oak ridge but I don't think they have anyone else for the championship game(s) I'm not sure who Oak Ridge will throw? Isn't there number 2 hurt? Maybe Skeen? HVA honestly has a cake walk left until they are district champions. I mean HVA has used 2 pitchers through 3 games. Everyone else is out of pitching

Will Kirk pitch? I havn't seen him pitch in the tourney, is he injured?

  11. Yes Sears will most likely be the leading candidate to take over at 1st base for Chase Kirk who is graduating.

HV is a school that does not get much press plus the school is young and so are their players. Powell always produces quality teams so they will def be back strong. I have heard there might be a coaching change there. Oak Ridge will continue to improve. Karns may have a coaching change as well. Those are the teams I follow. Don't know to much about the others.
