1. QUOTE(3153 @ Mar 18 2007 - 01:46 AM) 826416021Here's why:

First off, there is no "if" to it. They were averaging over 90pts per game (around 92 to be exact).

Second his numbers could have been much worse...

From the regular season they looked like this:

He averaged 16ppg, 7apg, 6rpg and 4spg..He did all this in averaging just 23 minutes per game because of the big leads that UC put on opponents.....

He shot 52% from inside the arc...36% on his threes and 74% free throws.....

    Most importantly:

He SAT out the entire fourth quarter 14 times this season and did not even play the entire second half in five games (big leads)

Now again, voters must of looked at

    1. UC's record

    2. Margin of victory

    3. Schedule of being invited to and playing in nationally recogonized tournaments

    4. MJ leading an offense that averaged over 90 pts per game

    5. Dominating performances over larger AA and AAA schools.

With all these stats thru the whole season, show me a candidate with a better resume? Skogen is an outstanding player and I could see where this could go either way. My vote however would have been for MJ due to all of the season-wide variables listed above.

All thats nice, but lets not forget, he did that against teams from the UGLY SIDE of TENNESSEE, we play real basketball in the EAST.

  2. QUOTE(Mr knowitall @ Mar 17 2007 - 09:28 PM) 826415636I've seen a episode of "COPS" from Chattanooga!!!!! They usally shoot in citys, not small towns.

As far as talent.... results speak. Chattanooga was standing in the end.

Good job to all who played

I was watching that show a few years ago and saw a guy on there I worked with in high school, it was mega weird.

  3. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 16 2007 - 10:59 PM) 826414742Ok guys. Way to take one word and switch it to fit your opinion.

Chattanooga wins without a dout. The past several years has been Grace and Temple. Now we add CSAS in the mix. Before 2 years ago you had Chattanooga Christian.

Where else are you going to find a place that can boast something like this?

Edit: I found something on Chattanoogan.com

    Region 3 History: (since 1998)

    1998 Temple lost in champioinship

    1999 CCS lost in semifinals

2000 Lookout Valley lost in semifinals

    2001 CCS won state title

    2002 Temple wins state title

    2003 Temple wins state title

2004 Grace lost in champoinship, Temple lost in semifinals

    2006 Grace lost in championship

Someone needs to add the Single A Mr. Basketball history to that list.

  4. QUOTE(Tha Chosen One @ Mar 16 2007 - 11:49 PM) 826414866I would like to congratulate both teams and I can honestly say that the Region 3-a is probably the best in Tennessee and some of the teams that are a few notches below these two teams in the region like Grace, 21st Century, and South Pittsburg were actually pretty good teams over these past few years and whoever can get out of that region has a legitimate chance to compete for the title. By the way I think Temple will win by 10

    I ain't buyin' that.

  5. QUOTE(ucdiditagain @ Mar 16 2007 - 09:30 PM) 826414617Ahhhhh....I believe Union City has ( 4 ) , I SAID ( 4 ) Gold balls in their Trophy Case @ UCHS and the last was won just last year. Tell me sir, just what school are you from and HOW many do you have in your little ole trophy case. Union City WILL be back next year along with Humboldt. Yea, I know I said NEXT year but Union City looses only one player and gains heights to come and Humboldt also only looses one player so look out East and enjoy your year becasue next year the West will take the REST. SIR...........................................

Be back next year? How can we trust you? You said UC would win the next ( 4 ) , I SAID ( 4 ) Gold balls at the beginning of this season.

  6. QUOTE(pedo_29 @ Mar 16 2007 - 03:21 PM) 826414275Was anyone FORCING you to play? Nobody is forcing these kids to play (except for the occasional crazy dad) so if they WANT to play and truly love the game then they need to be prepared to make sacrifices to make that happen. I guess it really doesn't matter anymore though. Now that these ludicrous rules are in affect, all it will do is lower the level of competition around the state (especially in the rural area) So lil Jim Bob will have a really hard time competing for that athletic scholarship against the big city kid or a big shot from another state who isn't handcuffed with these rules.

No, no one forced me to play, but I wanted to so I went to practice. I did and still do truly love the game. But as a kid, I wanted to go hear Skynyrd so bad I could taste it, but I missed out due to my dedication. I think that's what this is about. Letting kids do kid stuff.

How can y'all keep on saying that this hurts the rural areas? The big cities will have to play by the same rules... I'm lost.

  7. QUOTE(warmachine7954 @ Mar 16 2007 - 02:04 PM) 826414196Coming from a future basketball coach. these rules are going to make it hard for kids in this state. I am from upper west TN (go DC) If DC kids hadnt of had time to play together this summer they wouldnt be in the state semis. Rural towns will be hurt bad because AAU isnt right there in their town. Some kids and parents go to great lenghts to play AAU, I know some drive 2-4 hours on the weekends for AAU. Personally as a coach I don't really practice during the summer untill it's time to prepare for camp, then as a team we need to put things together. But the summer should be spent working on fundamentals and individual improvement. I played for Coach Hopkins we where in the gym alot and I was still able to be a teenager and hang out with my friends. The only thing I can remotely agree with would be some date changes with football, it does get to hot sometimes and it a matter of safety, but hey they need to practice too.

DC wouldn't be disadvantaged by this rule... noone will be practicing then.

  8. I think its good. I say that any am ducking to dodge the guns now pointed @ me.

Kids need to be kids. Too much emphasis is place on sports and that puts a lot of pressure on kids.

I really like the cutting out July from the schedule. I remember missing LYNYRD SKYNYRD @ Riverbend my junior year because we practiced till 11:00 in preparation for basketball camp. Obviously, I'm all for going to practice, but it still pains me that I missed out on rockin' with Skynyrd. If anyone knows of somebody with reasonably priced tickets for the Hank Williams Jr.-Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Nashville or Atlanta let me know, I still haven't seen them live!

  9. humboldt really didn't overlook grace last year...grace just happened to have a guy that shot lights out...that kid has never shot like that before and the night before the union city game someone pulled out some krypnoite on him...i had already had union city picked last year to beat grace anyway after humboldt lost...

No...No..Humboldt didn't play any defense last year...This year they have stepped out of the zone and can stop the long range threats...Humboldt is hot and can produce major damage...

Toylon Smith had a terrible game also....I think he only scored 8 pts and ended up fouling out. Humboldt didn't seem to know what to do with Grace. They couldn't make any adjustments to change the flow of the game. Carter McMasters also intimidated Sain and Epperson and virtually took them out of the game.

No 6'10 guys in the tourney this year...Humboldt's played the hardest game they're going to play from here on out...They're going to be the biggest and most athletic team in the tourney...Temple and Culleoka might have the two best "players" left, but they haven't seen anything like what Humboldt's going to bring next week..

Y'all have to give Grace some respect, they dominated that game. The kid that was "hot", Davis, led Grace to plenty of victories shooting like that.
