I agree, the DNJ has a man crush on other teams in Rutherford Co. Anyway, Lavernge is a good team; but they didnt sweep Oakland. Oakland was able to squeeze out a 1-0 win Thursday night.....This district is going to be fun to watch!! I have also been impressed with several players in this district that I have seen so far(I know there are many more that I will get to see). Sutton, Snider at Riverdale. Ward, Hawkins and Matrone at Oakland- Johnson, lyons and Reynolds for Lavernge

Illini- You beat me to the question. I didnt think, nor do most, that LaVergne had much talent. I made it out to Oakland last night and watched them play. This is a senior loaded team that is flying under the radar. I understand there pitchers may get weaker after 3 pretty strong guys; but thats all it takes to win district series. They are well coached, and last night executed every bunt, hit and run to beat Oakland. The winner of this district could have 4 or 5 losses

Had a chance to see Oakland play a couple games this weekend. They are solid team. looks like pitching is going to be the question mark for them. They played well against Science Hill; but got beat in the 7th. The Ward kid, pitching and SS is one of the best players in M TN. They are loaded with talent and as the season goes on, this team should get stronger. This district is going to be fun to watch.......Watched Siegel as well; and I was very impressed with what I saw out of them. They are one of the best, if not the best in this district.

I think the kid hurt from last year, Matrone is a catcher. He is palying this year and heard he looks good behind the dish. I was told he threw a kid out from Columbia and the second baseman had to wait on the runner to get there.....

You can tell MJ has is a solid team as well. I wish them, and all the teams in the M TN area nothing but the best of luck. This area has some very good talent !

Ilini..... you can say that all thru the pre-season, you will see alot of different pitching. To point Oakland saw your 10-14 pitiching, you soud like thats the only reason Oakland won. Not sure about that?? The young man that was hit, I heard was going to be OK, just alot of swelling

OHS was moved to Monday 3 @ Oakland. I think Riverdale plays Tullahoma Friday (15th)

I agree with all those names. I think there will also be a few other, Moss at Siegal (if healthy), Benifield. The catcher at Oakland, heard alot about Matorne, never seen play, but hear if healthy is pretty good

Oakland will be very competitive in this district. As I said before, everyone is back and the two that were lost, will not make a difference. They have talent that could make this team better than last year. The Matronie kid will give them strength behind the dish and i hear he has a pretty good bat.Stacey will be a good 3rd baseman and can hit. cunningham, smith, givins, moore and newman can all play the OF. I agree Oakland is missing Brenan King. I know there have been hopes by players and parents that he will return. I think its shame if Oakland lets him get away. He is a very good coach, and the players seem to respond well to his coaching. If he doesn’t come back it won’t take long for someone to give him a job. I think the Stacey kid will fit in nice at 3rd. in the OF they lost the centerfielder and I think Givens and Smith with their speed will cover a lot of ground in the OF. With the Matrone kid coming back from his injury, he will be a nice addition to a solid team I can’t argue with your observations. I just think they will be better than most think.

. I wouldn’t count out Siegel. I agree, with their injuries it will be tuff to overcome. I think Riverdale will be good; but not as good as last year. With that said, they have very good pitching. I think Oakland will be very good, they played last year with mostly sophomores, and finished very well. All the starters are back and the catcher that was injured last year and didn’t play, is expected to be back, should bring help offensively and defensively I'm gonna stick with my prediction 1) Oakland 2) Siegel 3) Riverdale 4)Blackman

Its a shame, because this is a great bunch of young men, that has to put up with a coach that doesnt respect or realize the talent he has. Everyone of these guys have played travel ball with or against each other since they were 8 or 9....This coach only looks out for himself....if we were to confront him your kid would be the one to suffer

It is, but you know, it really doesnt matter what district your in. The coach should have enough respect for his players and program to invite his players to their field. how hard is it to communicate via email to your players? ....Thats it! a simple email, if you respect your players and program. enough said!

I understand what you are saying and agree, if that were the case; but that is NOT the case here. We started 7-8 sophomores last year and finished second in our district. Next year they will be all Jr. There is talent on this team,The only two that showed up from this school found out from their travel teams coach, this should have been about the players....

How can a head coach of a local HS have a showcase camp at his school; and not notify any of his players to come out? Please someone help me understand??
