  1. If you had told me that Holt would score only 13 tonight I would have bet heavily against East winning. They are a tough team, with tough players and a tough coach. Thought Cheatham (who I think is also a very solid team) would win at home, but knew that East was very dangerous. Would be interested in hearing the Cheatham analysis of the game.
  2. Really impressed by Spring Hill. Played with tenacity on defense and contested every shot. Seemed like they blocked 10 shots. Also crashed the boards. Starkman is really underrated. Was the best player on the floor. If he wasn't Blackwell was. He made some huge plays in the 4Q. Otherwise, the game goes down to the wire. Too bad it took Spring Hill the entire 1Q to figure out the full court pressure.
  3. Not doubting the Cubs. I've actually seen them play. Just tapping on the brakes. There will be some formidable teams coming out of the west (Jackson Southside, Mitchell, etc.) and the 800 pound gorilla, CPA. Don't overlook East. Although they got blown out tonight, you don't want to be in a tight game with them late in the game. Don't see anyone in the east side of the state who can hang.
  4. Uh, that might be a bit of an overstatement. There are definitely a few teams out there capable of beating Cheatham. You probably know who they are.
  5. 65-36 CPA. CPA will host Spring Hill. Cheatham will host East. CPA will handle Spring Hill easily. Probably should have been Waverly in that slot. Cheatham will be favored over East, especially since they're playing at home - but I think that might be a pretty good game.
  6. CPA looks like it has turned it up a notch or two in the post season. They might have been playing a little bored for stretches of the regular season.
  7. What are some of the big tournaments you guys will be playing in this year?
  8. CPA's second team would beat White House. Actually, I think their JV would probably beat them as well. I look for CPA, East Nashville and Pearl Cohn to advance. The interesting game to me is Goodpasture-Maplewood. Maplewood is such an enigmatic team - all world one minute and mediocre the next. If their Big 3 show up they can be tough. Won't be surprised at any outcome in this game.
  9. There will be an informal session at Goodpasture at 3:00 on Feb. 24, followed by a full practice at Goodpasture at 3:00 on March 3. I believe there is one spot open on the team. Team will probably carry 11 players this year.
  10. Hadn't considered that, but you could be right. Play Goodpasture, then E. Nashville or Macon, then CPA (assuming tournaments play out according to seedings). Still think Goodpasture is no gimme for either Maplewood or Pearl Cohn.
  11. Looks like the tournament pairings will be: CPA (1) v. Whites Creek (8)/Hume Fogg (9) winner; East Nashville (2) v. Lipscomb (7); Maplewood (3) v. MLK (6); Pearl Cohn (4) v. Stratford (5)
  12. Sure looks that way. Only team that will compete is Goodpasture. They should draw Pearl Cohn-Stratford winner - a game I think they can win. The other teams in 9-AA are likely to get hammered.
  13. Top 10 ahead of Waverly - yes. Top 5 - no. District not strong enough.
  14. The Nashville Elite 17U team will be holding a meeting on Sunday, February 10 at the Goodpasture High gym. Any new players interested in trying out for the team are encouraged to attend this session. For questions concerning the team and the February 10 session you should contact Ed Kennedy at 788-6871. Practice begins on March 3. The tournament schedule begins in late March and extends through July.
