He's won everywhere he's been. At least competed. There's no comparison which one of these teams has the better coach. Nothing personal, but Malone knows how to coach HIGH SCHOOL football.. Casey Tate sounds like a good person, and trying to do the right things in Grundy, but people will soon find out that the Bryant boys was as good as Grundy will get if they're strictly wanting homeboys up there coaching. Grundy will go 1-9 again this year. I hope I'm wrong, but Cannon is the only sure win on the schedule. Everybody else that's somewhat evenly matched will out coach Grundy.

You know how to create new usernames to trash tate and praise bryant, you should know that coaching records can be looked up. Tate 1-9 yes. Malone been 1-9 before yes. Your right, either way somebody gonna get wakeup call. bryants are out. Maybe tate can get the dumpster fire they left put out soon. Bryants resigned at good time.

I think the whitwell coach is pretty good. He did have mr.football to hand ball to last year. How has he done without a mr.football?

Didnt see it last night, but I hope they have enough coaches. I heard they had more than 26 kids playing. Must have done ok, the haters could only trash the teams grundy played and say they had too many coaches. Maybe next week all you will have to complain about is the concession stand prices.

I truly believe this region is wide open for the taking this season. I don't believe there is one team that is head and shoulders better than the rest. A lot of people will say DC has the best odds/chance at winning the region, but I personally think they'res four teams capable of winning it.

 

In no particular order, those four teams IMO are: DC, Smith Co, Upperman, Squatch. I don't think York is quite there yet. They are likely a year away from being able to climb up the ranks and make some real noise. They are certainly capable of playing spoiler however.

 

Grundy County has another rough year coming their way.There is a lot of problems on the mountain right now. Unless things have changed, they barely have enough players to field a team if they all played one way. Cannon County is still Cannon County, and they will battle it out with GC to stay out of last place. Grundy likely wins that battle.

Hmmm, not sure about that last part. Maybe u guys win by more than 8 this year but I think mountain boys will be improved.

I didn't say they beat them. You said they scheduled easy teams and that was why they got into the playoffs. If you go 9-1 this year you'll be at 500. Then you can say you're better than the previous coach. But until then you're only equal to 1-9 swafford. Where did Melton coach before he took over at Grundy?

Showing that Grundy did play quality teams when the Bryant's coach.

Yea they played them and lost. They beat grace, cumberland county, CCS, they got beat by 70 points against signal and ND. They just got mercy ruled by the other .500 or better teams

The bryants beat teams with .500 or better records 3 times in 6 years. So Grundy needs to schedule teams with poor records like the Bryants did so that they can get wins, thats what your saying? To sneak into playoffs and get beat like a drum first round? Yes Whitwell beat up on Grundy last year. Congrats to THEM, not you disgruntled worker.

Wow, statistician, what was Whitwell stats last year? And how do you KNOW anything about Grundy last year? Oh yea cause your disgruntled because the former coaches are out or you just dislike current coach.Well here is a stat, the Former coaches beat 3 teams who had a .500 or better record in SIX years. So to think they would have done in multiple times last year is ridiculous. I believe Cannon was only team on schedule with losing record, how many losing record teams did Grundy play in last six seasons prior to last year?4-5 cause thats the only teams they beat. Im sure the previous coaches were all snatched up quick to be coordinators at successful programs due to their outstanding coaching ability.

I dont coach, and its very obvious you are concerned.

Grundy County problem is people who join message boards within 5 minutes of each other and act as a Whitwell fan and Grundy fan and have a Q and A session that bashes a team. I dont see that on other threads. Doesnt matter who coach is, its nonstop bashing of Grundy by the people of Grundy and has been for quiet a spell. Im sure its difficult to win on the mountain with the support athletics gets from its own folks.

You would know answers, you seem close to team and qb club. I just dont see coaches who beat winning record teams three times in six years, doing in 3-5 times in one year with a team that was low on talent. The defense the past 6 years has given up 40 in a half multiple times every season. Im not sure most people care, but you can look up stats, scores, etc for years past

Jackets 87 knows alot about QB club. Where did DC go? Bryants would have been 1-9. They only beat teams with winning records 2 or 3 times. I think cannon was only team with losing record on grundy schedule,So yea bryants would have beat them.

my before spring practice order:

1. Dekalb- best single player in district in Jennings

2. Upperman- won 2 of last 3 titles, 2nd round or further each of last three years

3. Seq-return a good defense and a tough running game

4. York

4. Smith

5. Grundy

6. Cannon

Is York and Smith returning alot?

Didnt the old coach get suspended for kicking a can into a kids head? Didnt he have a good player suspended off team for drug use and having drugs at school? Didnt he leave the program in these shambles? Losing to this degree shouldnt be blamed on a guy who hasnt been there a year. Kids transferring and not playing is their choice or their parents.

George is a vey positive Grundy man. Cutting them down every chance you get. Why do you think Grundy can do no better? just no athletes I guess. GC, I bet Georgy can give some insight into the trader QBs. He has a pocket full of sour grapes

I don't know, I guess you, George, and dc are right. Grundy should just stay home and practice Friday.

Not hating at all, I just think scaring Watertown is a little different than beat or even playing with upper man... If you think the Whitwell game went bad...... Reality is on the horizon.. Upper man is for real!!

I never said I though Whitwell was bad, running them down is your job and your real good at it.I think they are on pace. Whitwell loss showed where this team started. A team of first year players should have beat a good watertown team, ready to play or not, grundy is learning as they go. The REALITY is that Grundy is improving. That should be their goal and their hitting it.

Thats quiet a change of heart GC18 from the 35-0 Prediction above. Grundy is young and that isnt going to change. Improve should be goal this year.

Does Grundy play tonight? And when they do play are they going to play in Tracy City or Altamont? Casey Tate is a great guy who has a big hearrt for Grundy County, however I think Grundy will regret firing Nick Bryant.. Grundy will be lucky to win 5 games in the next 3 years... I'm pulling for Grundy. I like Casey and he did a good job with the middle school program last year. But Friday nights are A LOT different than Thursday nights.. Good luck Grundy on your season.

Maybe The ex coach could have benefitted from some time coaching on Thursdays. He had NO experience. I dont think anyone is going to regret losing a coach who finished 500 with above average talent. Tate has very few players who have returning experience. The quote in the times today from their opposing coach point of view says it all, last year was the worse Grundy Team he had seen. Who cares where they play? Your attitude is a perfect example of the plague that keeps the mountain down.
