  1. DBturningitAROUND is right about one thing; the past doesn't matter. Having said that, most people factor in past outcomes when they are trying to predict the future. Let's talk about the present. As of right now, WB will have at least decent qb play and be able to put 3 or 4 receivers out on the field that can make plays. That spells trouble for teams with weak secondaries.

If you could read you'd know I didn't say anything about WB playing DB.I posted about the reason for them switching regions. And going by some of the post some thinking it's going to be easier to win games in region 1. WB must feel that way,Why else would they want to switch regions?..Just Saying

I can read circles around you, bud.  You talked smack earlier and the fact that you got butthurt about me thinking WB can win more games with the new schedule shows that it hurt your ego in some way.

Let's look at the math.  DB and SH will be the favorites in the new region and WB is 3-3 against DB in the last 6 matchups between the two teams. On the other hand WB hasn't beaten Maryville since 1999 and is 0-7 against Bradley in the last 7 matchups between the two teams.

So yeah, the schedule will be easier. Anyone who disagrees with that isn't very bright.

And you will see it again!!..For there sake,I hope they do better.Cause if not im going to be here reminding the folks that thought they'd have an easier schedule how foolish they look.Spending that money for longer traveling games but getting the same out comes.

Good grief, dude. It's not all about DB. We dropped Maryville and added teams like Clinton, Karns, and Hardin Valley. And region wise we will play teams like Morristown East and Jefferson County. How is saying we can win more games against that schedule a slight to DB? But since you chose to run your mouth, WB is 3-3 against DB in the last 6 matchups between the two teams and two of those wins were in Kingsport. Like it or not, WB has been competitive with DB. And you talk about road trips, but DB has to come to WB in 2021 and we had long road trips in the old region too.

  4. Barney,

Football participation is down everywhere. There are a lot of factors that contribute to that. One of the biggest factors is the fact that a lot of parents don't want their kids to play football because of the risks associated with it. I have asked parents of some of the good players that play other sports like basketball and baseball and they said they didn't want their kids playing because of injury concerns. WB usually has between 50 and 80 dressed out for varsity football. That is on par with the other 6A teams in East Tennessee.

I'm sure neither Blount County or Maryville saw an explosion to the population 45 years later from a factory that would come into town having to draw outsiders to come in for a job because the original people that live here can't pass a pee in a cup test.  20 years ago I built 12 houses in a subdivision that are walking distance to William Blount High School and I remember saying back then if this continues the city lines could end up at the doorsteps of that school and people just laughed thinking i was crazy, guess who's laughing now. William Blount has outlived its useful life and no need to keep pouring good dollars chasing bad one's passing the buck on down the line to another group of leadership that makes the problem even worse for them. The Counties long term growth plan is simple, live to see another day.

What does any of that have to do with high school football? And what do you mean by outliving its usefulness? Are you defining usefulness purely by success in high school football? Does academic success and success in other sports not matter?

Did it ever occur to you that Maryville High is within 3 to 4 miles away from the farthest distance any kid travels to school there and the county has some kids driving for half an hour to get to school. Next time your out Six Mile Road why don't you see how long it takes driving to William Blount from there and you may understand why some kids see that as a big obstacle from going out for football versus going straight down the road and playing for Lanier like they did in the good old days of Blount County you'll never understand. There were more boys on Lanier and Friendsville back then when the county was only 85,000 population then William Blount has now on a team 40 years later and that's not even counting the kids that were in the Everett zone that lives on the south side of town. What do they teach you over at UT my friend, it certainly isn't common sense.

    1. Maryville's zone is bigger than you make it out to be. There are kids zoned for Maryville that are closer to WB and Heritage. At one point I lived 5 minutes from Heritage and my address was zoned for Maryville.

    2. Most of WB's kids are within a 10 or so minute drive from the school. Heritage has a much bigger geography issue that is impossible to dispute.

    3.  Maryville has more kids than WB and Heritage.

That's what you get when you put a bunch of schools together and bus them in from all over a county.

    Barney,

Are you aware that Maryville has more kids than WB and Heritage now? And your school zone keeps growing too. Your tired narratives are making less and less sense with each passing year.

  8. WB needs a break from Maryville. Neither team gets anything out of that game right now and the fans don't get excited. There's no mystery and everyone knows what's going to happen.

After we drop Maryville for a few years and do better in the new region, I bet you anything there will be bigger crowds when we add them back to the schedule in a few years. It will be like when we played Alcoa during Shad's first two years at WB. The crowd at the 2015 Alcoa game was the biggest crowd I have seen at WB since the 2007 Maryville game.

The benefit of wearing masks has been significantly diminished because our current President made this a political issue.  It has been very easy to spot differences in political ideology by who is wearing a mask and who isn't.  Stronger leadership at the top early on would have virtually eliminated the cancellation of football games.  so if you're looking to blame anyone for what is going on, I would suggest taking a close look in a mirror.

Again, all the countries that have pushed masks the hardest are going back into lockdown mode. I'm going to repeat the question: what good are masks? The CDC was urging people not to wear masks in the spring, so what changed? Masks went from being useless to a panacea.  You are right when you say masks are political, just not in the way you think they are. They are a visible sign of who is willing to give up everything for a little false security. That's what this mask crap is about. The idiots yelling at people in the stores for not wearing masks would be the first ones on the boxcar if the government offered to take them to COVID-19 safety camps.

Is it WaCo or Whacko?  The reason this virus is not contained better than it is right now is because of people like you who favor conspiracy theories and in a irate information over facts and science. Constitutional rights?  Tell me just one of your rights that have been violated.  Good God, man, masks don’t protect you...they protect others from you.  And distance....are you kidding me?
We’re finally getting some leadership that will listen to those who do know and understand science.

    Roll Tribe

Pretty much all the countries that have pushed the masks and lockdowns are going back into lockdown mode again. So what does all this bs (masks, social distancing, lockdown etc.) stop exactly? Serious question.  I bet you can't answer that question without launching into insults. Masks literally make it harder to breathe if you have any sort of respiratory issues. And they are supposed to make people safer? lol! Nobody is safer because of masks. Nobody. The world has really gone off the deep end. I know people who are morbidly obese and have been asymptomatic with COVID-19. This whole thing is a complete joke.

Everyone has taken their guard down and you see it everywhere you go, now this chit is spreading like wildfire. We live in the richest country in the world and can't get Lysol spray and a hand cleaner just for this virus all because it's made by our biggest enemy and the one who brought this crap on the world. That's what happens when the people we send to Washington D.C. sell us out. There should be a truck provided by the government to hand this stuff out in every parking lot in every city across the USA to get a handle on this beast but they would rather spend a hundreds times that on things that won't work. Give all the Dollar General's cashier's a gun and the first redneck that enters the door without a mask gets a warning shot. That's how you put a handle on this.

What if I told you that I personally know several very unhealthy people who tested positive for this virus and they were either asymptomatic or had very mild symptoms?

I watched this game.I couldn't believe this game was competitive at all.Talking to Billy Willis from LC he told me who was out.Its hard for me to believe that WB is improving, one of those 4 wins was against a not so good 1A team.I guess you can make Lemonade out of anything.

It wasn't competitive at all. Lenoir City was inept and couldn't even pick up a first down. How do I know WB is improving? Because we played awful Friday night and still won 35-6. Had our offense been clicking we could have scored 80 on that team.

Oh and we had a real shot at beating Bradley Central and scored more on McMinn County than anyone else all year and we were one of the few teams that scored on Maryville's first team defense. But who cares about all that right? Let's talk about Oliver Springs.

I wish you haters would keep talking about Oliver Springs. We only played that game because the 6A team we were supposed to play couldn't play because of Covid-19, then we scheduled Halls and they agreed and then had to back out too. So we scrambled for a game and came to an agreement with Oliver Springs. What of it? Both teams agreed to and we won on the field and all of our starters were out early in the second half. That powerhouse Greenback couldn't beat them lol.

Noticed some construction going on across the street from the football field at Heritage Friday Night and wondered if that was the new field houses for the football team and if they have started those at both schools yet? Both stadiums look very nice now and up to date which are a great impression to all visiting fans. That is moving in the right direction to me.

Yes, that is the field house. Heritage is getting theirs first.

Good post 91! I don’t follow the govs like I used to, but it’s a good sign if they improved during the yr. Honestly the one game I saw makes me wonder how they did beat hairtage this yr. That may show the strength of expectations.

We had our ups and downs this season. We looked like we didn't belong on the field with Cleveland, but we also scored more points on McMinn County than anybody else. We also had a pretty good game offensively against Bradley.
