Van Buren has a really solid team at home. They are tough to beat in that gym but get them away from there and they are just average. They've got a really good player in Mills and some good role players around him. This was one of those games where the home team was going to win. Had this game been played at Pickett I have no doubt they would have won. Now this is the last year Van Buren gets a cupcake walk to host a substate game. They move into district 7A's region next year where every game will be tough.

So the win in the state game in the buro...does that count as a home game? On a neutral court is where it was played and they played better than "average."

We play an easy schedule but we beat the good teams when it matters. Marion, Jackson, and now GCA. We will have to be on our a game for BTW.

"Finally beat a good team" was a sarcastic remark. If your team makes the state tournament...it is a good team.....period.

Van Buren Co won, congrats to them for moving on. Mills kept shooting until he started hitting, congrats to him. Enough with the pleasantries. Van Buren isn't very good. Meigs Co is 15pts better than VB. Good luck to VB moving forward.

Agree with folks about Van Buren . Played a bunch of weak teams all year . Hoping for Van Buren , afraid it could be a bad beat .

Any team can be beaten........Gibson included.

Seen Van Buren and don't think they can beat anybody at the state ..Don't have but one quality win all season and it was against Jackson Co who has their worst team in years . Pulling for Van Buren , just don't have much hope .

Been years since I have been on here. Wanted to say "Well Done" to the young men and Coach Sullivan. Class Acts. Great for Van Buren County.

I want to personally apologize for their behavior. Being an alumni of NCS, I was ashamed at their behavior. I actually happened to have graduated with the guy that got thrown out. He has been thrown out of a few other games this year for the same reason.

 

To all VB fans, players, coaches, and cheerleaders, that is not a good representation of NCS. Please except my apology on NCS's behalf. I feel that you should atleast hear it from someone. Hopefully they will be more civil for the Eagleville game.

I have great respect for the fans, players, coachs, and cheerleaders from Van Buren for being mature enough to not get "suckered" into what was occuring.

I have a couple of questions.

Who is responsible for stopping this kind of behavior? The host team? The 2 policemen standing a short distance away? Or someone else?

During the whole game the action was inappropriate but very little was done.

Who failed to do their job?

The single A poll is a joke. Pickett Co. beat Van Buren twice this year and as recently as friday, and Van Buren moves into the top ten? You've got to be kidding me. I see about 5 teams in the top ten that I know PC can beat, only one maybe in the top 5, Nash Christ. but Van Buren, University, Summertown, Moore Co., and the Arts and Sciences, I'm sure they could beat all of those teams. Not saying they would, just saying I know they could beat them. Rural schools don't get any love in these polls.

And Van Buren beat Clay County twice which beat Pickett County. So where should Clay County be ranked?

I dont think Van Buren has a good shot unless the whole district tourney is being played there?? I believe Forrest will take it and look for another trip to the 'Boro.

So Van Buren can't beat anyone away from the mountain? There might be a few surprises. They beat MTCS at their gym.

Hey, Legend...are you a wanna be or a has been? I can't figure it out. Did somebody at NCS ruffle your feathers? How long did it take you to type out the entire NCS schedule along with their opponents record? Wow. I bet you're a daddy and it's real sad that you have to badger other teams when maybe your son's team isn't dong so hot? or aren't ranked? or didn't play well against NCS? Who knows? Half of NCS's games are against district teams. Is that their fault that they are in that district? They went to Florida and played against AAA schools and only lost one game. Go cry somewhere else. If you can't say anything positive, don't say anything at all.

That last line is pretty good advice but I believe not being put into practice.

Sometimes we all forget the real purpose of high school sports.Good luck to all the young ladies on the Van Buren Basketball team. Especially to the one I am related to and the one I have been privledged to get to know better in the last few months. I think you are both wonderful people on and off the court.

We have a little of the white stuff and some sleet but not enough to cause any problems. Should not be any problems traveling. Hope to see a big crowd from Cascade Friday night. It seems some of the teams have not had a very good fan following this year for our home district games. I know it is a long trip but what is better than a good high school basketball game on a Friday night? Drive safe.

Ah as you can see Van Buren clearly does not play well away from thier home mountain.

At Forrest - Van Buren beat Forrest 68 to 58

What do you base your clear opinion on?

Cascade visiting Van Buren Friday night will be a great matchup. Three of the top scorers in the district will be on the court but the deciding factor will be the play on defense. When Van Buren plays solid defense they are hard to beat. It will be the best matchup this week in the district.

Don't you just love it when people start using their imagination skills.

You probably already know by now Sledgehammer but VB won by 10. We was behind the first half but turned it around in the third. To much Smith down low and Baker outside. I think both of them ended up with 26 a piece. Forrest is a good team that has lost alot of close games. They are a team you better not under estimate as you already know. That was a long trip, with a pretty good ending. See you at homecoming.

And did you see his two dunks that didn't come close to making? They won't stand a chance at Eagleville, nor the districts.

And did you see the hand on his back from the defense? Some said Van Buren did not stand a chance at Eagleville last year either.
