  1. Nope, just proving some points, which i have..And i am right, which is why you resort to childish behavior..As you just did with your last comment..Because that's all you can muster up to say in return..

'SweetScience' I’m not really sure what you’re trying to get at here. Because on one hand your saying Bruce is a really good coach then you make excuses for him for his losing seasons at Father Ryan. The only reason he had a good of record as he did at Oak Ridge because of the coach he took over the great Joe Gaddis one of the best high school coaches ever. Don’t you think it would be easy for someone to come in and take over for Quarles at Maryville or Bowers at Ensworth and have a winning record? I’m sure “Beagleboy†(from page 2) a follow fan from Oak ridge would agree with my comments. So I think that point is invalid. Next you say that Father Ryan doesn’t have the athletes that the other schools have. And so I say to that, doesn’t a good coach go out and recruit football players (and don’t give me any BS about private schools not recruiting). There are catholic kids that played in parochial leagues that are on BA, MBA and Ensworth’s teams right now. And some of those kids are D1 athletes. A good coach would be getting the catholic kids that go to catholic middle schools to go to a catholic school like they used to. So every excuse you make for Lussier is really invalid when you think about it.

  2. Father Ryan will get killed in their final game of the year and it will also be the last year Lussier ever coaching the Irish. Because they have been killed by every team in the state that is any good and by some that arent any good (ex. JPII and Hillwood). Just last week they got rung up for around 50 points to Ensworth. And people like to say that Lussier has good D's every year. Final score MBA 35- FRHS 6 a fitting way for Bruce Lussier to end his career.

  3. Not to beat a dead horse but BA beat Father Ryan 45-7 last night. It keeps looking worse and worse for Bruce. And this week some very important people (I.E. Jim Carrell) went to go see the Jim McIntyre the President of Father Ryan demanding a coaching change. And when the man that donated a stadium and new athletic complex wants a new coach you can bet that Father Ryan will listen.

  4. In 2008 BA lost to MUS in DII championship game. That year Ryan beat BA 27 to 23 at the Nashville Sounds baseball field. Prior to that game MBA demolished Ryan 45 to 0. Ryan went 5 and 5 that year and were not very good. So.....football can be a funny game, and 16, 17 and 18 year olds can overlook bad teams when a Ensworth team awaits them.

The key tonights game is can BA coaches keep players focused. Some of those same coaches were on staff in 2008.

But also that year Ryan didn't lose to JPII and Hillwood which they have done this year.

  5. I consider the Irish to be close to a 28 point underdog in this one, however, if the Irish could someway pull off the upset it could save Bruce's job!

    My world:

    Father Ryan 24

    Brentwood Academy 21

    Realistic world:

    Brentwood Academy 42

    Father Ryan 17

I’m just wondering what fantasy world your living NashWrestling, Father Ryan only put up six points on JPII what makes you think that they will score 17 on BA?

  6. well I guess my #'s are too high....but the point is, these schools have in essence a bottomless pit of money to offer as financial aid....that opens the doors to a lot of people that maybe weren't candidates 15-20 years ago when FRHS was an elite program....the money goes to students of all kinds....some play sports, some don't....but the eligible applicant pool is much deeper for these schools than it was 20 years ago. That's a luxury these schools have. And when the TSSAA lifted the quota on the # of financial aid recipients that could play on a particular varsity team, it opened the doors even more.

I recall when Kurt Page left FRHS 10 years ago he made several proposals on this subject that he felt FRHS needed to enact in order to stay competitive with the other D2 programs. Much of what he proposed centered on finding ways to make their financial aid awards go farther so that more Catholic families could attend the school....

Father Ryan has the kids needed to succeed in DII in their feeder schools but they are unwilling to provide the right amount of financial aid to those kids. Also they don’t try hard enough to keep those kids in a catholic school. Bruce Lussier has never gone out to the feeder schools and tried to get those kids to come to Father Ryan. He just hopes that they show up to Father Ryan in August. And the fact of the matter is that they don’t show up to Father Ryan anymore in August because they ended up going to BA, Ensworth, or MBA. Or like DirectorP said they just don't want to play football for Lussier.

  7. The buck stops with the coach however Steve Spurrier would have trouble winning a d2 title at Father Ryan because the overall talent on the field is just not there. I have been to many games over the past few years.. Love the school, facilities and the people but the fact of the matter is the school simply does not have the football athletes to compete with BA, Ensworth, and MBA.

I beg to differ Father Ryan had the running back two years ago that won the state in the 100m dash and other players that can stand toe to toe with anyone. But its the coaches that can't compete with BA, Ensworth, and MBA.

  8. Look a little familar??

"I think its time that Bruce do the right thing and resign. The once proud Oak Ridge program has fallen to new depths after losing Friday night to a 3A school. Anderson County wasn't that much better but they were much more prepared. AC knew what Oak Ridge was going to do on almost every play. They took away the passing game but Gray and company never saw that. Over 100 yards of penalties and at least three turnovers because of a lack of focus point to one thing. They were not ready to play. That is Lussier's job and he failed. Oak Ridge has now lost three straight games and I think its time that a change is made. I know that the school staff won't make a change after one game but I think if Lussier cares about his legacy ( the only thing he does care about) then he should step down. The fans will not support him after last night and without the money football brings into the school the other sports are going to suffer. I call upon all parents and fans of the other sports to let Mr. Green know that you are concerned and that he should make a change if Lussier isn't man enough to. "

from a 2002 Coach T post the topic was Oak Ridge's Bruce Lussier should resign

  9. I have no idea if Coach Lussier is on the hot seat but as a Father Ryan football parent I want to make a couple of points.

Coach Lussier always seems to field a pretty good defense.

We have gone from the spread to the triple option overnight. It is taking the boys awhile to adapt and we need to be patient while that happens.

Just looking from the outside in, saying that Bruce Lussier has a good defenses is a little bit stretch don’t you think? Baylor this year scored 24 points on them and Mccallie put up 31. And Last year over five teams scored 24 points or more on his “good†defenses and as for his offense he didn’t have a real offense before the triple option and he doesn’t have one now with it. They scored only 6 points against Baylor this year and 10 against a really mediocre Hillwood team.

  10. That's the main reason why some D2 Schools should consider finding new coaching (and maybe even administrative) leadership that can adapt and change with the times. It's not a knock on what they've done, but to continue being successful (and not just in football) new blood can sometimes be the catalyst to putting schools back on the preverbial map.

But what I’m hearing from the FRHS coaching staff and administration is that the schemes are right it’s just that the players are lacking heart.

  11. I have heard whispers that Father Ryan’s football coach Bruce Lussier is on the hot seat after losing three straight games this year (one of those being to Hillwood) and only having two winning seasons while being football coach for the Irish. So will the Fighting Irish have a new head coach next year? And if so who will be the top contenders for the job?

  12. No the problem is not from all public schools, its from schools like Father Ryan, Cleveland and Bradley that can't beat Baylor. Don't punish the students build your program as good as they have and beat them on the mat. Don't hate the program build your to beat them. Thanks from a public school dad.

All I have to say is look who won state last year in DII it was CBHS and Father Ryan. Imagine if Father Ryan and CBHS could recruit like Baylor, it wouldn’t even be a competition anymore. They would have all of the homegrown kids that they have now plus they would have all of the recruited kids like Baylor. And please don't tell me Baylor doesn’t recruit. Because it’s not like all these kids magically appear on their doorstep wanting looking for a good education and they just happen to wrestle. It’s like saying Ensworth doesn’t recruit in football. Ensworth just has 6’3 250lbs males magically showing up to their school looking for a good education and oh yea they happen to play football as well.
