  1. Shadow I understand what your saying.. Understand though! It's no secret to all of us close to this program that Potts ( who is the best player I have ever seen) is not a passer! He will tell you same thing , but he was closes thing we had to a passing QB so he was put there! I have so much respect for him and his parents.. I would of blown a gasket if they moved him from running back to QB, but they didnt! That's why Potts is the ultimate player, he didnt complain, he did what he could to help the team! I love that kid!!

I suppose what I am trying to do is distance myself from the position that states the cc coaches were outcoached. It never occured to me to blame anyone for this loss. I feel like I had been unfairly thrust into a camp in which I don't belong.

  2. Yes coaches get out coached all the time!!!! You guys missing the point! This is MY opinion, and I do have a kid on the team that starts.and has started since a freshman! These coaches were not out coached in this game! CPA had more playmakers than CC! It was told to me today this- we might match up with CPA 11 on 11 maybe, but then you look on sideline and CPA looks like clones, and we have some guys not even 5.5 in height! The point was , CPA just has to many great players! That is bottom line! Yes, why not kick deep like we did to 21 from Fairview one time, and what happened? CC didn't have one kid, maybe Potts being exception that could catch there returners. I would had kick the same way he did! Sometimes no matter what coaches do, the other team just better. And believe me, I'm not saying that we don't have kids good enough to okay with them, I'm saying they have alot more, for whatever reason...

I would have agreed with you before I read the posts in this thread. I wasn't even in this discussion. But, it had been insinuated from one of my posts that I demeaned cc coaches (which of course I didn't). But, I have on a few occasions voiced a concern about the cobwebs on the cubs passing attack. Well, friday they needed it and couldn't kick it in gear. The concern was well founded. In any case I am very proud of the cubs accomplishments this season.

  3. i do not like people however jumping on to their coaches after losing. but great coaches can get out coached at any point at the time that was all the guy said. howdy went into an uproar.

Good coaches get out coached all the time. That is what happens when two good coaches meet. Someone has to lose. It is like chess.... if you play the game you may play grand champion (grand master excuse) but if you play karpov, kasparov or fisher the chances are you get outplayed.

  4. Cheatham scored 579 points in 13 games in 2012. They put 3 backs at 1,400+ yards on the season. 2 of the 3 had 20+ TDs (the other had 17). Sometimes you just run into a team that is "better". CPA was better last night. I don't think the Cubs coaching staff just forgot how to coach!

I said nothing against the cubs coaches. I praised the cpa coaches. When this game was slated I said we were going to see an upsurge in defense from what we had seen. I think it is obvious that is what happened.

  5. Well it went just about the way I expected it as well. Yes, cheatham could pass but they have not all year. So when they had to they just didn't have enough experience to pull it off. Cip that critical 4th down pitch to sweat who dropped the ball and it went over on downs. I hate to praise Ingle Martin because of his dust-off with Ut (ancient history now) but what really took place is we ran into a well coached team that adjusted/schemed to our weaknesses.

  6. Seriously handicapped would probably have to talk to the people at the gate. There is a bit of a walk for public parking because you have to walk past the baseball field to get to the football field.

You won't be able to park close but they may accomodate allowing you to drop someone off closer. They have a service drive fenced off that they might allow you to use to get closer. I'm NOT saying they will. I'm saying you can try.

  7. This will date some... Very many of the people on this board may not even know who he is or his son. My brother (a qb) went to tsu and tried to walk on. He told me he saw joe gilliam jr. in practice, throwing passes and he slanked away and never went back. Don't get the wrong idea. My brother is not a quitter, but... Before air mc nair there was 747 joe. It takes a lot to humble my brother. Joe jr. went on to back up for Terry bradshaw. He'd be a household name if he hadn't had drug problems.

As for his father the head coach... it has been a while since I have researched him... He was an assistant for meritt. He was a head coach for tsu later but his best work was done as an assistant.

  8. I know this outcry must have already been issued when they first pulled this crap but I have to voice my own antipathy toward having two classes sharing districts. IT'S STUPID! A team could be competitive to their own class but because they play a particularly good set of teams from the other class they may be left out of the playoffs due additional cricumstances such as resignments and injuries. It makes no sense if they are not competing for the same prize they shouldn't be in the same district. I'm sure whoever dreamed up this madness thought they were being innovative (which would be part of their lunacy).

  9. This contest is gonna come down to who can score the most points. Cheatham is going to run it and CPA is gonna going to pass it. The difference will be who can disrupt the others game plan. Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers!!! Will be the deciding factors! Can't wait till Friday night! Can't wait to see the crowd for this one!!!!!

Fairview played as if they had only one receiver, so they had to mix in runs with their passes. If cpa has more than one receiver they can mix it up without running too much... I'm hoping cc minimizes their turn overs and takes advantage of any cpa gives them.

  10. Granted noone has stopped the cubs running but a couple of teams have slowed them down. I remember the camden game and having to debate with one of their fans that the cubs had beaten them with running The fan wanted to vaunt the fact that the cubs didn't put 600 yds rushing on them. I think this game is going to be the one where the cubs will have to pass if they can (I'm sure they can but they havn't and it will prove to be a disadvantage that they hadn't). That is not a prediction of who will win or lose. This is the game where we start to see a marked increase in defense.

  11. ...this is a real huge problem for athletes. I just saw in the news a young walk on at tsu collapsed and died. He was an alumnus of smyrna high. Now I am not for certain that his ailment was chd but there have been a few athletes to die in recent years including a major league pitching rookie (the name escapes me now). I think it is time that a more comprehensive checkup be a part of the induction process for athletes of public institutions. My brother who passed away going on two years now was diagnosed when he was going out for the harpeth squad (when they were a junior high team: they still let him play?).

  12. The only thing I would care about is if a team had payed a player (or parent to steer their kid) to play for their team. Short of any tangible evidence of such a circumstance I don't see how a coach showing up in a living room gives a team an unfair advantage. What gives a team an advantage is for a bd of ed making funds available to acquire the best coach they can get. I know cheatham has in the past not put such emphasis in acquiring the best man for the job of head coach. I don't know if they had come to their senses or the coach they now have has made a particular personal sacrifice but knowing the long ago past compared to the recent past I'm glad someone has stepped up to fix what had been broken for some time. I'm certainly not going to adopt an attitude of entitlment. Football is about dedication and hard work. If after the work this team has done on the field they do not receive their due respect.. I have to question those who withhold that respect. This happened when postman insinuated that cheatham was overrated... it was obvious to me his motive was to find a reason to believe his team would prevail over ours and it was evident he could find no reason to believe it so he concocted a reason to believe... After all he questioned the strength of cheathams competition considering opponents cheatham had yet to play. Postman's team is no longer playing... Cheatham is.
