  1. I second that jacket... You are a class act.
  2. We know the way to short circuit a passing offense is to keep the offense off the field. The way to do that is to run the ball. The only problem with that is that cc scores so quickly running the ball that the passing offense doesn't cool down. I've been very complimentary of grundy county. They deserve it. They carried us to the start of the fourth quarter when with many other teams our game was over at half-time. It took the intermission to cool down their passing offense. Listening to these grumbles you can hear so many contradictions you have to wonder if these guys ever listen to themselves? The fact that grundy took us so far into the game is a testament to their preparation (THAT IS COACHING!). Now they tried even after the pick 6 but as it has been stated the qb was a freshman. The pick 6 had to have had an effect on him. Notice, I have not said anything about their defense. The score says all one needs to know about that. However, to put to bed the notion that grundy has met four teams better than the cubs how many of the teams that grundy met have put up approaching 600 yards offense on them all on the ground?
  3. Mtngoat: Exactly what I was thinking about both teams.
  4. here, here... no injuries! Jacketman you are just itching to put this game in your 2nd round upsets thread aren't you?
  5. * Three times I told you to go back and read what I posted. Two of those instances were prior to the post you are now citing! At NO TIME did I say grundy was well coached. I said they were adequatly coached. Go back and read you *!
  6. I wasn't there to believe or disbelieve your claim about their alignment. Besides I wasn't talking about the defense when I said grundy was adequately coached (I didn't say they were well coached [again go back and read what I posted]).
  7. So what you're saying is that grundy is no good and we should not respect their effort? I think that team deserves better fans than you! Btw " And the same followed!" is a sentence fragment. It makes no sense.
  8. This entire train of misthought is because he didn't like me saying that coaching wasn't their problem. A team can be well coached and lose.
  9. Still regurgitating what I posted. Go back and read what I posted again!
  10. A person does not see clearly with rose colored glasses so I doubt you can be honest. The funny thing is a lot of what you are trying to refute me with is what I had said in my post. This isn't the first time I have talked about the cubs passing defense. Learn how to read!
  11. I'm glad grundy took the air route... Put the cub secondary on their toes and possibly helped prepare them for fairview. In this thread I heard a lot of badmouthing their coach but it seemed that grundy was coached well enough. This game tonight was the first game in five or six weeks that went into (upto) the fourth quarter for the cubs. They needed a bit of a scare to hone their competitiveness. I expect next weeks game to be much more high scoring than the first meeting.
  12. Now 62-30 after a pick 6. Cheatham. Now 69-30 after 63 yrd td. Cheatham. Well there is the mercy rule... Didn't think we were going to see that tonight. Game over. Now thier coach can say whatever he likes but who is going to listen? Next week: Fairview vs Cheatham rematch.
  13. 34-24 cheatham beginning 3rd quarter. This is definately a game.
  14. Ok, here we go... You can only have 11 kids on the field at any one time. That fact means that on average 38-45 other kids are on the sidelines watching. I'm not saying there isn't politics in sports but at the same time... the coach is usually fighting for his professional life and is going to put the 11 best players to do the job. Let's also acknowledge that the personel are dependant upon a philosophy about how to compete. Now you may have some understanding about football and hold a certain philosophy about how to go about winning and in that case go ahead and apply for the coaches job... otherwise let him do his until he proves that he can't. And learn what the word 'usually' means.
  15. It isn't that... Of course a failing program should be scrutinized but the complaint that preferential treatment is given because of various ODD reasons is usually proffered by the mothers of bench warmers.
  16. In a sense they did just receive it. They have been positioned at the top of the playoff projections for many weeks but you don't actually get the seeding until the season is over. Btaim Am I understanding this that you are a page fan? Page in a way is much like cheatham... when I was in school they were in the same boat as we were as far as football fortunes.
  17. Yes, I know but they stood to loose it if cak beat alcoa.
  18. My only concern is the lack of their competition ending the season. Hopefully they will be prepared for the level of competition they will exprience. I'm with you though they deserve their ranking. Since cak lost to alcoa didn't the cubs receive the number one overall seed?
  19. When the subject of a five class system was discussed I agreed a five class system was better. The two issues (five class system and playoff format) are symbiotic but they are not the same issue. My only beef with the playoff format is the dissimilar construction across the classes. The playoff format should be identical across the classes.
  20. As long as there are not teams with better records sitting at home I have no problem with the playoff construction.
  21. The prediction that the world will end? That is suppose to happen on the eve of my birthday dec 22.
  22. What is the story with the onslaught of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that I was told marred the first half?
