  1. Was at the game. We looked soft. Our defense was poor, our shot selection was suspect. Our bigs are going to have to step up and play like bigs. They were timid with the ball inside and did not box out consistently. Transitioning from football is the majority of the issue but I have concerns.
  2. Guys, please stop bickering publicly on CoachT. The other day, I commended all of CC for their admirable behavior in support of their team and opponents, etc. Now I feel foolish for applauding as the example so well put forward is being destroyed by infighting. Please know, you guys blessed me with your former attitude and I hope you can collectively realize that demeanor is more important than what the right or wrong plays and/or adjustments were. You men are the leaders for your boys. Treat one another with the honor and grace you have treated all others. Be full of joy.
  3. I don't live in your county and have never seen this team play but wanted to comment in two things: first, this team and group of young men must be very special to receive he ongoing praise of their community. Your record speaks for itself. The hard work you poured in will pay off even further later in life as overcoming obstacles is an ongoing challenge for men as friends, husbands, dads and leaders of homes, communities and businesses. May God reward you richly and allow you to glean from this year all he planned so that your lives will reflect His glory. Second, I want to applaud the parents and fans from CC. You have shown great class and love with your words OB this board. It is rare that one can "see" love for a community, group of children and even honor for opponents like you have demonstrated. I for one want to honor you. May God take all of your pain and replace it with laughter. I am sure you have brought Him joy just as you have me watching you from afar.
  4. Statistically speaking you are wrong. 16 against an opponent two removed must receive a discount due to reliability and the number of factors involved in the calculation. Good anecdotal evidence that Giles is the favorite but statistically unreliable. The 20 between two common opponents must be divided by 2 for an average of 10. You did not change the denominator even though there were two games played in your numerator. Point differential being 3.5 added to the common opponent calculation is 13.5 but that must now be divided by two as the numerator has 2 components leaving an average of 6.75. Therefore Giles is a touchdown favorite before calculating home field advantage, (most sports books would say is worth 4 points). All in, it looks like Giles should be favored by 11. Same outcome but significantly closer than your original math laid out.
  5. Big Daddy, i suggest you go back and read all my posts and find their context. We did get LA's best, whether it is McCoin or Hayes their is only one ball on the field at a time. They can't both run it and have numbers. The Blues were around three decades before your nickname and I did say it probably came about innocently enough because of topography "not typography". Look up the definition if you don't know it. I mentioned loss of respect for fans for several reasons not the least of which included multiple attempts at vandalism and harming personal property last night. One the police stopped, another some DC fans stopped. these are just the ones I know first hand. I have always been gracious toward your team and factual. My only rib at you was in regard to your "lame" nicknames. If you feel that is a personal insult because it was your form of expressing creativity please forgive me. I thought before you could give and take. I guess either it is easier for you to give or somehow I pressed a nerve of pride. Again, I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. This will definitively be my last post on this thread. Say whatever you want about me or DC. I stand by all my statements. LA fans (not the team) and your community lost a lot of respect in my eyes last night. One thing I can say is that DC fans cheered before, in and after the game (not the same for LA). Hopefully your fans will take that spirit with you next week so that your kids feel valued win or lose. Our boys had a really good season. I am sure some of them are down right now. If you read this, know that better days are ahead. Sport prepares you for life. Some days feel good; some days do not, but rejoice regardless in every day because your hope is not in football. Your value is not on a scoreboard, it is in relationship. Care for your brother men; even those that may not be easy to. Big Daddy, King and Kodger - I wish you well and am asking for your lives to be blessed. Good luck the rest of the way.
  6. Congrats and good luck. Disappointed in some of the sportsmanship at the game. I lost a lot of respect for LA fans but not the their team. I would encourage DC guys to just wish all the fans on here well and sign off. Let them talk crap to each other. You don't have to read it and I would not want to see anyone from DC baited into arguments. We made mistakes and lost. LA played well. Again, congratulations and best of luck. Baller out.
  7. Ok. Been fun boys chatting with you. I particularly like Big Daddy. He can give and take. You guys have a great squad. We are thrilled at the year our boys have had. Hope we can bring our best tomorrow night. Everybody be safe and regardless of outcome let both teams know we appreciate what they have done. I will be rooting for the winner come next week whoever the winner. GoTigers. Baller out.
  8. Actually the term came from old blues songs as a slang for these urban legend definitions you wish to cite. That song in your article that referenced hog eye was almost certainly referencing the underlying meaning you do NOT intend. Maybe you guys don't know your history after all. Again, keep the pride but do some research. As for the area being called that it likely came from a second definition regarding a low lying place (type of topography). I am sure that was the original intent (excluding your song reference). Very innocent way it came about but maybe it does not hold the same meaning with regard to a person as you may think. Again, call your quarterback whatever you want. I just think it is offensive to the young man.
  9. If you have to give an internally derived method of how something came about to defend a name that anyone can look up in the Internet having a derogatory meaning; maybe you should think about it's actual impact. Look, I am the first to say support history but the rest of the world does not get this document. You guys are great fans and have fantastic school pride. Your call if you want to call him hog eye juice. I am not going to stand in your way. I for one think he deserves better.
  10. Stat of the night: All time dumbest nickname: Anything mentioning "hog eye juice". Have you even looked up the definition of hog eye? I am embarrassed for him. He deserves better than that.
  11. I was there. Already said they were good. Now making it very clear those nicknames are NOT.
  12. Ohhhh, in Livingston you boys play with two balls. Gotcha. King or grumpy old man, you guys want to correct your daddy or stand by that statement?
  13. They better be good to make up for those lame nick names you just gave them.
  14. There is only one ball on the field at a time. We got LA's best.
  15. I really believe this will be a different outcome. A few things (TO's being a big one) going our way would have made a difference and hopefully we will see that turn this game. I do not believe our line will get dominated again. We are healthier at some key positions than we were last game. In an odd way, we have an advantage. We have seen LA's best; they have not seen ours. If it is close I believe DC will win. That train may be comin round the bend but it can be derailed. DC by 4.
  16. How many teams do realize the arm he has? His arm may be as golden as his wheels but few have seen it. What is the most number of completions he has in a game for his career? A couple bombs a game does not make for a great passer. It doesn't make for a poor one either! He just has not been asked or forced in his career to my knowledge to drop back 25+ times in a game. Can he do it and do it well? Probably so but who really knows? That is why Tech would give him a "chance" at QB instead of stating he "is" a QB. We all know he is a great athlete. He seems to be a good leader. He very well may be a fantastic young man. I only saw class come from him while others would have rubbed our noses in it two weeks ago every time they reached paydirt. I wish Brock all the success in the world in college and in life. I just hope for one game, he has less success than his competition. Honestly, if I were the coach and had that line; I wouldn't put the ball in his hands to throw until I was forced to either. That same decision is empirical evidence that risk/reward the coach has always trusted his legs more than his arm. Who wouldn't? It leaves the question in observers minds; can he throw with the big boys at the next level? Also, will he ever have to at this level?
  17. I think this thread needs to be submitted to the TSSAA. Clearly; there is a case to be made the refs should have called a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, kicked the punter out and suspended him for a game. Is the line guilty by association for blocking on the play?
  18. What is the size/weight and grade level of the LA line? They were really good last game. Curious how many will be back. They did not seem as big as the Smith line but much more athletic. Also seemed as if most played both sides of the ball. Has endurance been an issue at any time over the year? Maybe WH?
  19. Great topic. Shouldn't this be more interactive? If you claim yourself then prove it. Talk trash about the mascot of your competition. So far, I see a Greene Devil, and an Owl vying for the title. (ie What is a Greene Devil if not envious and wicked? As for an Owl, is anything other than a mouse in fear of its wrath?) real trash talkers could do my h better than this. Notice, no claim to the title here. Let the games begin!
  20. It is the best season in DC history. The young men will give it all they have and that is all anyone can ask. The only disappointment would be for them but NEVER in them. We have a fine class of young men that are going to achieve more beyond the football field than on it. That said, we CAN win Friday even with our injuries. I actually expect us to do just that. It will be more gratifying if others scoff at the idea. 48 minutes is not a long time for a group to rewrite their legacy. They may not have beaten LA yet but it ain't over and all we can do is cheer them on as they reach for their dreams. This DC senior class won't remember the last 9 if we win this one because this it would mean they end of the run and closed the book if you will for LA. Only one survives.
  21. I am glad you have learned it. I guess it makes it easier for you to see in others? Now back to the plank in my own eye. We obviously have a lot to prove and physically have more to overcome than at any time all year with our primary playmakers. This challenge will not be easy but nothing worthwhile ever is. We are really pleased by our young men and believe they can overcome. Go Tigers.
  22. Being the Lord's day; it seems a proverb may be in order - "Pride comes before the fall". Keep your "Hog"eyes on round 3 and those ribeye sammiches may cause you to choke.
  23. Ahhhhh, objectivity! How refreshing? You guys should start game planning for Fulton or Greeneville now. Considering your supremacy, maybe sit half your starters too in an effort to keep them fresh and healthy. As long as DC does not stumble upon a patch of four leaf clovers outside the gate Friday night you have nothing but weeds and dirt clods between end zones separating you from the third round.
