  1. beating baylor never ever gets old. the game was exciting if you were wearing blue. joey skogen and john brock went wild. jay fullam did his thing. congratulations to the seniors for doing thier job, taking care of business, and getting the win. class of 2010 your up next...
  2. its ok for you to say and think that its bigger than the players, thats fine to me, but whats interesting to me is you talk about playing in front of empty stands, as a player, thats what it felt like at finely, i know my junior year they said 12,000 people came, thats a toooon of people a ton...but it didnt feel like anything, i couldnt hear our crowd, much less the baylor crowd, our fans would chant and cheer, and so would thiers but i couldnt hear or feel anything...all the feeling came from the players, and yes the games were played and i am in no way complaining about the outcomes, but i know that if we played on campus, on EITHER campus, we woulda played better, baylor woulda played better, and the games woulda been better...better for who? the fans. and even if you werent lucky enough to get a ticket to a game on campus you woulda seen it on tv. and it would've been exciting...when i called my grandparents after the game this past year my granddad said my nanna almost went through the roof with excitement, now maybe MAYBE they only did that because i was playing, but i dont know. baylor's seating compacity is 2500, or thats what i was told this past year, i was also told that 3000 came to the game, but those 3000 felt like 10000 to me as a player, when we would make a play, our fans went nuts, but baylors fans picked up their team, and baylor bounced back...and baylor would make a play and their fans went nuts, but when i turned around to our side, our fans picked me up..they picked up the team, and everyone saw the battle and the result...people said it's one of the best mccallie baylor games they've ever seen. and thats the truth...when we played at finely, and i've played there a number of times....it felt empty. all the time. and thats all i have to say about that
  3. all 4 of my highschool years as a football player (the last 4 seasons) i wanted to play red bank, or ooltewah...because all the papers claimed that they were the best in chattanooga...that could've been true, but i wanted to play them to either prove, or disprove this statement, we can sit here and say red bank would be mccallie or ooltewah would lose or whatever it is your opinion is but we never knew, remember the ooltewah team that went undefeated a couple years back, and the mccallie team that had BJ? well i do, i also remember ooltewah losing in the playoffs, and i was on the sidelines when i saw us lose to brentwood academy in the state championship...i bring this up simply because one of mccallie's games that year we played a team from S.C. they were said to be like the 3a state champs in South Carolina, but they were awful, i was a backup on that team and saw significant playing time in that game. how amazing would it have been if mccallie didnt play the team from south carolina and instead played a pretty good ooltewah team? one team woulda won and one woulda lost, but they both woulda been tested, and more prepared for the post season...it would've drawn sooooo many fans to finely or to mccallie or to ooltewah, both schools woulda made some money and also both woulda gotten some good experience that woulda been valuable in the post season...i remember before that season started we (mccallie) played Red Bank in that krystal kickoff scrimage thing, it was 20 min of running clock. it was fun, but a joke...the following year Red Bank did the same thing against baylor...i dont know facts for sure, but all i HEARD and this is word of mouth, is that ooltewah wouldnt play us because they didnt want to lose their good players to mccallie's recruiting ways...i personally havent ever seen a case of us recruiting, but i'm not denying that it could happen, but you would think that if ooltewah played mccallie and won, then why would any of thier players want to come to mccallie? same for baylor? i have heard rumors of baylor recruiting, but i wont get into that because i dont know any facts for sure...personally i think it would be great if mccallie got to play ooltewah, or red bank, or hixon, or soddy, or somebody from around town....please public schools, i dont know whether its a lack of guts, or just them not wanting to, but it would help the chattanooga community and it would also better chattanooga football as a whole
  4. where do i send it in to the chattanoogan? and i'm not nick moore, he was a senior when i was like a sophomore? i think, nick just said that quote to the school paper, and its one of those things that's stuck with me...but i appreciate you're positive imput
  5. i graduated last year, and was able to play in last years game, as a former player i just have a few things to say about the venue of the game....nothing. nothing. and i mean NOTHING compared to last year, not even the state championship my junior year, when i was in the 6th grade i watched the last game at baylor until last year, it was amazing. and i walked away thinking i wanna play in a game like this...i will never ever forget the memories that were made there last year, never. the anticipation became an actual physical feeling for our team on wednesday, and typically it happened on friday...i will never forget the bus ride over to baylor, and walking off the bus and all these 5 and 6 year old kids surrounding the bus and high fiving us when we got off the bus, TWO HOURS before the game, i will never forget walking onto the field and the stands were already packed, and people were already cheering. that NEVER happened at finely...i will never forget getting dressed and feeling the crowd's noise in my feet, i will never forget the few plays i did make in the game, i will never forget walking out and having the crowd go insane, i mean ya at finely the students yelled, but the parents, and alumni and the little kids, they were all on their feet screaming...i will never forget looking across at the baylor people and seeing them yell....i will never forget how hard i prayed to God matt would make that kick, and i will never forget crying like a baby when he did thanking God. i know everyone wants to see the game...my grandparents wanted to see the game, they had tickets, but my granddad isnt the most mobile, so they couldnt come, it was a shame, but they watched it on TV, and i called em afterwards and they were so happy and proud...i wish they coulda been there, but thats the way things work sometimes...the game is about the players, never forget that. its not about the fans, its not the fans' right to see the game, but their privilege...i know baylor's "small" in all honesty its not, 3000 people saw that game live, and i know mccallie is too, but i was so happy about the game being at baylor, it made it 10x better...i wish mccallie would have the game at mccallie this friday, i hope baylor has it on campus next year...finely is cool but its a terrible place for a player to play, the stands are 50 feet off the sidelines and i just remember feeling sooooo detached from everyone who came to watch the game, my memories at finely are all good but they all run together, i can remember that game at baylor like it happened last night....that is my pitch to anyone and everyone who has any power with the venue of the game in the future, bring it back to campus, for the players, and for the feeling of the game now, onto the upcoming game....i believe the streak will continue, jay fullam and john brock and jim makepeace wont let it end, these 3 guys have lived in the rivalry for years and years and years, jay's had 2 older brothers in this game, and johns had 3, jim's lived on campus forever...these men know what the streak means, i know it will be a tough game, and baylor has a good bit of talent, Sam Williams, he's pretty dadgum good so i've heard, i know brett murray's good...but i just dont see baylor winning...look out chattanooga, #11 is coming soon "The only difference between mccallie and baylor is a mindset, every year baylor hopes to win, but mccallie EXPECTS to win" -nick moore
  6. i think you Mr. Sir, are being selfish, how many people do you think were "denied the right" to see the tennessee georgia game? the fans don't have a "right" to see the game in person, its a privilege...and the 6,000 or so fans that were there, acted that way by supporting both teams from start to finish...for those fans that were "denied the right" to watch the game in person, both schools had it broadcast on the radio, CSS put it on TV, Frank Burke put it on the jumbotrons down at Bell South (or isn't it AT&T Field now? i get confused) Stump Martin covered it on his show, and all the local news covered it on there shows...i don't think baylor's being phony...i really don't like them as a school or football program..but hey, they got it right on this one...my parents were home before i was so i know that they handled the parking issues as best as possible...my uncle was gone off campus less then 10 min. after the conclusion of the game...i haven't been back over to baylor to see any trash aftermath, but i'm sure they handled that ok too...now being familiar with mccallie's campus, it would be more difficult to host, simply because of the parking issues...but its still totally possible...i hope our administration thinks long and hard about taking the game back downtown, cuz as a senior, the game being on campus made it more special....i hope our juniors next year can feel exactly what i felt...
  7. as a player, i totally agree with you...the game itself was increadible...the atmosphere wat amazing...to have the majority of your fans at the game in time for warm-ups...there's nothing like that...the place was rocking from pre-game to post-game...as a member of the team, the game was just ten times better at Baylor then it would've been at Finley..i appluad the baylor administration for everything they did, who cares if they moved it back for home field advantage..that's great, the game was great...it was awesome to look across the field and see tons of baylor fans, and actually hear them...because in previous years it was easy to look across and see the other fans, but you could never hear or feel them, because the stadium was so spread out...heck we could barely hear our own fans at finley...but last friday our crowd was into it from start to finish, making it one of the best experiences of my life...what a way to enjoy your senior year, winning at baylor...i sure hope Coach Cherry thought to himself that mccallie can pull that we can pull that off next year, and we should simply because the atmosphere was amazing...
  8. does anyone "in the know" know the full extent of Baylor's injury situation this year...what's the story on evan joseph? riley dyer? alen owsley? isn't there another RB that's hurt? can somebody fill us in? btw i'm taking mccallie by 14 or more...
  9. Both teams are coming off losses this week McCallie losing to FR 17-14 and Baylor losing to Brentwood 30-0...both teams are again on the road McCallie going to Ensworth and Baylor to Knox Catholic...which team will put it together with only 2 weeks remaining until the showdown? as a member of the mccallie camp, i believe that we have the better chance given the injury problems that baylor's dealt with this season...but it still should be a good game...all in all mccallie brings home victory # 10
  10. wow that game was a tough one to lose, but your comments are highly appreciated...ya'll played pretty well and we had a buncha mistakes that ended up costing us the game...congrats on the win, and hopefully we can get things together and meet ya'll again in the playoffs....
  11. Coach Potter will give Chris Jordan the ball...and he'll take it through the baylor defense to the house...many times...my thought is BA 28 Baylor 10
  12. Wow, uh i was a part of that particular freshman game you're reffering too McCallie lost 14-0, the field was probably 65-75 yds long...and uneven...granted that's no excuse...we returned a kickoff for a TD that was called back...but overall our offense couldn't move and our defense fought their tails off....but many MANY things have changed about this class and more importantly this football program, we're looking forward to getting into the win column in our conference (region, i'm not really sure what to call it...D2AA-AAA) but we also know that FR won't give us an inch...their RB is very good and hurt us last year...this game will probably be more physical than the previous Brentwood game...and i think we're looking forward to that test...just as Father Ryan sees this as a "defining" game, we do as well...good luck to both sides, hope everyone comes out and is supportive, hope both teams stay healthy, should be a really good game...
  13. Ma'am i'd first off like to thank you for your continued support of our team this year, however we are not as you say a "young team" we have 16 seniors, most of them play, and all of them lead, and the ones that don't play on fridays contribute on the practice field during the week...but we have grown a ton this year and are continuing to get better everyday...i hope you'll be able to make it to the game friday even though its a long trip...speaking of long trips i don't believe the distance will have much affect on our performance. We traveled a ton last year, and have already made a 5hr (maybe longer) trip to Kentucky this year and were able to win on the road 31-14...all that being said i expect a highly physical game and a very close game...i remember the FR teams when i was younger and how they weren't very talented, this team is not like that...they're big, they play hard, and they have a great deal of talent...McCallie will have to execute every play and be ready for a tough physical battle...i believe our team is ready for that test, but that's why they play the game...my prediction (my hope) is that McCallie will go to Nashville and come home with a win in a close one...21-14
  14. The annual rivalry is only 3 weeks away...its at Baylor this year, and McCallie is looking to keep the streak alive and make it 10 years straight...McCallie is 2-1 and Baylor is 1-1...any thoughts?
  15. man i know you're right, i was at the jamboree watching, and i saw a very average baylor team, granted they didn't try a whole lot on offense, but the only play they scored on, Red Bank had 10 men on the field, and they player who was missing was the SS, Red Bank torched them running up the middle repeatedly, and it didn't matter that Baylor put men in the holes, they couldn't tackle RB's RB....they also threw the ball to Tim Benford consistantly without trouble...now onto MBA...i don't have a clue about them so i'll go with what usually's true...they'll probably be able to run the ball...which was a problem in their scrimage, and i doubt they got much of a test in their first game...MBA probably won't throw the ball too much, so baylor can relax there...i think it'll be a very close game...this could be Baylor's wake up call for the season, or it could be the start of a very long road trip (they go on the road the next 4 games)...who knows what'll happen....should be a good one...but my prediction is MBA 10 Baylor 7
