  1. A simpleton is someone who is so myopic that they can't get out of themselves to recognize the achievements of others. A simpleton would never give credit to anyone for beating his team. A simpleton would constantly place the blame on his own team for blowing a game. I have watched time and time again you say that the only reason WB is not good is because they hurt themselves, and not just with the Bearden game from last year. It is always WB shooting themselves in the foot. It is always WB and its coaching. It is always WB and turning the ball over. It is always WB with its penalties. It is never, "William Blount just isn't as good as another team." Sometimes other teams are better than your team. Just recognize that. WB is always the star of your story, and that my friend is the definition of a "simpleton". It is one thing to root for your favorite team. It is another to have absolutely NO objectivity when making comments on here. You are a fanboy.
  2. Just checked the score real quick. So you're telling me that WB should have put away, by mercy rule, a game they lost 34-14??? I don't have any insight into the game, but regardless of what the score was at half, they gave up 34 unanswered?
  3. William Blount got beat by an 0-9 Bearden team that was one of the worst in school history last year. I'm with KnoxDad. What makes you think they beat them this year? Haha. 1. Maryville (The Best) 2. DBn(???) 3. Hardin Valley (I may be too high on this team) 4. Science Hill (???) 5. Bradley Central (Heard the QB is a beast) 6. Bearden (Good QB and a few large school athletes) 7. William Blount (Anyone who can't play for Alcoa and Maryville, and now probably Heritage) 8. Jefferson County (Struggling)
  4. Fair enough. Is there a Makale Foreman or Malik Mague on either of this year's teams? I know there will be athletes as there always is for these two teams, but is there a game changer that has the ability to almost single handedly win ball games by himself?
  5. I really would love to hear an actual prediction or honest answer about who between DB and SH will be stronger. I'm removed and haven't watched either one in a couple of years. Is there anyone who can give me a for real answer without being a homer on who should be better? Both should be in the top four in this region IMO.
  6. I mentioned when I first posted that I knew it was 7 on 7 and that I was just making observations based off of what I saw man. It sounds like you live in this dream world thinking that the Governors are going to be good; competing in the top half of the conference, and the fact that I have come in making simple statements wakes you back into reality, causing you to be extremely defensive. Yes, that sarcastic comment was aimed to poke at you because it seems like you have no grip on the fact that WB just doesn't have the horses to play with the top 6 teams in this conference yet. Is Shadowens a great coach? The numbers say yes. Does that translate into immediate success in terms of wins and losses? Not always. Instead of throwing out excuses like, "our best playmaker wasn't there" (which I'm sure is the case), insinuating that you have big time athletes to compete with the big boys, maybe you should instead mention that you are much more disciplined, or won't shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers, or the kids will be in great condition, or they know how to work much harder, or they will lay it all on the line for this coach. I feel like from your posts, that you really have no grasp on the reality that William Blount just isn't very good and it will take time to build something with real substance there. In due time, with the right coaching staff around him, and the right foundation, I have no doubt that William Blount could turn into a competitive program. With all that said, I saw what I saw, I don't know who was missing who from any of the teams I watched, and I stated my observations. Good luck this season though. I would encourage you to stay patient and come back to reality before you post on here.
  7. I'm telling you guys for real. Don't sleep on Hardin Valley. At least on the perimeter, they're the real deal.
  8. No problem with anybody. Just my observations Gov.
  9. That makes sense. I was wondering where all of the stellar athletes that are typically playing for William Blount each year were...
  10. Let me preface my post by saying this, I know that 7 on 7 is not real football. It does give you a good picture of a team in 2 major areas though: How athletic they are, and how well coached they are as far as discipline and scheme. With that said, I traveled down to Maryville College to watch a ton of teams yesterday in the annual passing day, mainly to see if all this hype about William Blount being decent is for real. After watching what I believe was every team from the new region that traveled to MC, here are my rankings of the teams I watched. 1. Maryville: I didn't need to see them play. They're the best. 2. Hardin Valley: This team is extremely athletic and will surprise some folks, especially in NE Tennessee. A couple of big time LB's and a couple of really athletic WR/Safeties. Dobyns Bennett and Science Hill don't need to think they've locked up 2 or 3 just yet. Not sure about how well they're coached though as it always seems like they underachieve. 3. Bearden: Again, I'm not predicting they finish 3rd. They were the 3rd best team from this region represented by a long shot. They look significantly more disciplined than Hardin Valley, but less athletic. Great QB (Big Arm), a couple of good WR's, and a good LB. William Blount and Jefferson County will without a doubt still be competing for last place in this region IMO. Jeff County has a couple of nice athletes but that's about it. Shadowens obviously has a nice reputation and success as a head coach, but just to give you a heads up, he's basically got the same staff of assistants as last year's WB staff (Not Good). He also didn't have the opportunity to bring his ball players from Blackmon either. William Blount is talent depleted, just as I had suspected (Less talented than Jefferson County). WB will finish in front of Jeff though because those kids will play harder for Shadowens.
  11. Now if we're talking NFL, then I would agree. Obviously the Seahawks and Ravens could run the ball, the Saints and the Patriots couldn't all that well. What's the common denominator? They all have great QB's. The NFL is a QB driven league, period. Now with that said, they all did run the ball. What I was referring to was guys earlier on was when foose kind of referred to the "spread" as all pass and no run, kind of like Texas Tech or Washington State in college. None of those Super Bowl winning teams are 90/10 pass to run ratio. They still see the importance of at least keeping a run threat. Mike Leach's teams, although pretty fun to watch, will always have a hard time winning big time games. That's more what I was referring to.
  12. Oregon never has the hogs to pack it in and run people over, but they still see the necessity of running the football, so they do whatever it takes to do it. Teams that don't run the ball some way never have a chance to win big time football.
  13. See that's the misconception. Oregon is spread right? Well they lead the nation in rushing about 3 years back. Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State are all pretty spread as well. All good running teams. Spread doesn't always mean Mike Leach/Hal Mumme air raid.
  14. What type of wing-t you talking? Rhea County? Because nobody runs that at the next level. Obviously Georgia Tech, Army, Navy, and Air Force all run triple option concepts out of flex bone/double wing double wide looks.
  15. you talking about Wing-T concepts? Because yeah, they run some Wing-T concepts. None of those teams are in the true Wing-T though.
  16. How in the world could you question why a team would spread it out and then also say, "get in the end zone"? The highest scoring teams in the world are all spread. Why do they do it? Because it works! Why play football in a phone booth if you can get fast guys in space? Some schools just don't recruit big. Some high schools just don't have big, power guys. Why be stubborn and refuse to change if it suits your strengths? Can the veer work? Sure (Carson Newman, De La Salle, Knox West). Can the I Backfield running power work? Sure (Stanford). Can spread work? Sure (Oregon, Ohio State, UCLA, Ole Miss, Texas A.M.) Also, in case you actually watch blocking schemes, your national champion Ohio State Buckeyes are a "spread" team that runs the same thing a lot of you Power Guys want (Power, Counters, etc.).
  17. So now the question becomes: Who does he bring with him? With this big of a hire, he's got to have at least negotiated bringing in some of his own hires. There's absolutely no way an experienced, successful coach would agree to take the old staff completely. And if he does, he's gotta be desperate.
  18. I know it's another thread, but I don't wanna read through it all. Is this actually gonna happen, and if so, what's the timetable?
  19. We all know one thing is for sure. William Blount will be reserving its normal spot at the bottom.
  20. Harig is your new HC. They interviewed a coordinator this afternoon, but apparently by then, the move had already been finalized. The inability to communicate with candidates, current coaches, and the community is unbelievable really.
  21. I hate to be THAT GUY who says they know a secret but won't tell, but I just wanted to throw it out there that West actually is interviewing people. It felt a little stagnant to me, but things are happening.
  22. What new changes Bulldog? Names?
  23. Not big names that everybody knows, but coordinators. And according to these guys I'm talking to, 1 of them is going to be a BIG TIME coach whenever he lands somewhere.
  24. Word is from a couple of buddies of mine that coach in the area that they're still interviewing applicants. Now the guys already mentioned, Harig and Nix, may be the front runners, but a couple of those being interviewed this week haven't been mentioned on this board. The longer this goes, the more evident it is that West won't be hiring from within.
