Sometimes its like old mother hubbard, the cupboard is bare.    Coaches certainly get the best out of what they have, but you don't always have horses in the barn.    Also the schedule, back to back games against South, DB, Greeneville, Tenn High, Science Hill.

I have heard the new HC at JoCo inherited a pretty dang good team. Obviously, the Vikings take this one but I do think Johnson County has a good year. I think they will finish 3rd in their league behind South and Betsy. Vikings going to be down this year?

I have tons of respect for JJ and the way he gets the most out of his players.     Boone rarely has any stud athletes, so it's mostly average guys playing up a notch.  His father probably has a lot to do with that as well.     But in the end the Cyclones still win this game by a comfy margin, they just have much better athletes and you can't coach speed

Blazer, what's the story at Boone? I always think of good football when I think of Boone, but I haven't been hearing good news coming out of there the last couple years. I realize they play in a very tough league, and play an even tougher non-conference schedule...but I still think they would be getting a little more credit than they do.

I don't know anything about Avery, but I did see Cloudland play Johnson County last year. The Whitehead kid was a beast as a sophomore, expect more of the same this year. Landers may be in for a fun, fun year if those kids stay healthy. Good luck to both teams.

Saw where Johnson County won the 7 on 7 tournament, they getting away from traditional JoCo under new HC? Any scouting reports on how anyone else looked?

Looks like South is limping to the finish line with 3 late season losses...anybody care to elaborate.

I have seen South twice this year, they are extremely athletic, but seem to have trouble scoring at times, especially against a zone where they are forced to knock down shots. I still think them, Elizabethton, and Unicoi are all better than anyone in the District 2, just my opinion of course. Should be a fantastic District tournament. 

Very anxious to see how this final week shakes out. Anyone have a scouting report on the other District? I know Greeneville's always tough but I haven't heard much from anything down that way...

How many of Fulton's main guys are still playing football?

I just saw where Grainger beat Cherokee, and Cherokee beat Greeneville. So right now it looks like Grainger has the upper hand. My question is how many football players are on the basketball team for the devils?

I'm assuming Greeneville's football kids didn't play in that Cherokee game. I saw both play at the Hardee's last night and I think Greeneville is the better team. The Wright kid from Greeneville is a beast. Cherokee is really well coached and fundamentally sound, but Greeneville is better. I haven't seen Grainger, heard they were tough. Anyone know much about them?

He deffineately deserves his chance, I know the guy and he will put his heart and soul into it. If and when he proves he can't do the job, I'm sure they will hire someone else.

Greeneville beats Betsy by at least 35

Since you are so confident in your picks, why don't you grace us with your pick for the game that this thread is actually about? Funny how Greeneville fans never say much about Fulton...delaying the inevitable? 

I know not many people here think Crockett is any good, but what is there offensive philosophy? Do they have a running game, pass a lot, balanced offense, etc?

They try to be balanced offensively, but tend to be a little pass heavy. They pride themselves on the hurry up offense. They try and get as many offensive snaps as possible. QB is a sophomore, has some potential but has thrown a ton of interceptions. My prediction would be that they will have a ton of 3 and outs against West and it won't be a game after 1st quarter....

Crockett has two choices:

1. Keep scheduling the biggest cupcakes you can, slide into the playoffs due to the messed up TSSAA system, and get blown out in the first round of the playoffs year after year.

2. Schedule some real teams that are at least close to being a 5a team, or decent 4a team, earn some respect, sustain some kind of tradition besides losing, grow and get better and earn a playoff spot. Maybe be competitive some day. A 5a school that large should be better.

 

They really should be better than they are with 1,300 plus kids l. I think they are obviously better than they have been, but still no wins this year that they shouldn't have won.

Hey BobbyBoucher and BigPoppaPump. At the first of the season I was mentioning a few things about expecting South to have a good season in 4A. You guys promptly started bustin my chops about Betsy and E.T. being the real deal and not to expect too much. Did you guys really change your tune or are you just yankin Betsy's chain?

No chain yanking here. Never dreamed that South would be 9-0. Saw them play against North, very impressed.

Umm yah I seen that in the paper and guess what Elizabethton is missing a few games in those stats SOrry he does not have more tackles just saying. Plus you can judge a player by the amount of tackles.

You mean can't? And just wait til Friday night if you don't believe the stats. He doesn't look like much by the eye test, but is a beast.

Thomas will be best player on the field Friday night, no doubt about it. BUT, the next best 4 or 5 players will be South kids. Neither of Elizabehton's QBs hold a flame to Weiger. South's receiving core is night and day better than Betsy's. And the best defensive player on the field is the Bond kid from South. If you don't think so check the paper Friday and see how he has 25 more tackles than anyone else in the 3 Rivers. Only my opinion, and no disrespect intended.
