  1. The top TN girls teams in the Chattanooga area from last year were:

    1. Bradley Central, 2. McMinn Central, 3. Cleveland, 4.  Baylor, 5. Signal Mountain.

The rest of the top teams were all about the same from the following group: Whitwell, Chatt Christian, Boyd, Silverdale, Meigs Co, McMinn Co., Walker Valley, Soddy Daisy, East Hamilton.

I’d say the top 3 teams for 23-24 won’t change. Bradley is simply loaded & should win any Chattanooga area games by 40+, except McMinn Central, who has strength coming back too. Bradley’s 2nd five would probably be #3 or 4 on the list… I don’t know about all the teams, but I’ll give some comments on a few.

Cleveland - lost a lot, but have Top 100 Jr. Lauren Hurst & other solid players around her. Baylor lost All State PG, but usually solid. Signal is always well coached. Whitwell lost their two All-State caliber girls & will struggle. I think most of the others have a good nucleus coming back.

What teams have I missed that will be strong in 23-24?
What other insight should we have on these teams heading in to the season?

Im sure fans on both sides want to play each year. I assure you it has absolutely nothing to do with either team being scared. Haha

I've heard in the last 24 hours why they aren't playing and i get it. Cookeville fans on here wouldn't get it so I'll keep it to myself.

So, they are scared of Cookeville?

LMAO.... Bradley had 12 penalties for 110 yards.

Probably 7 of those were 5 yard encroachment penalties on 3rd or 4th down where Cleveland had a crazy shift and Bradley handed them a first down. Cleveland had 3-4 offsides penalties on the shift, so I guess Cleveland netted out ok - LOL

    Whose the top teams?

East- Lakeway Christian and CAK at the top with Notre Dame coming in next.

Correct in the East. Lakeway & CAK will battle for the top 2 seeds & Notre Dame will be favored for third, with Boyd Buchanan & Silverdale most likely battling for the last State Tourney spot. There is a big drop off between the top 2 and the next 3.

How I'd rate them post-Christmas break:  1) Bradley still EASILY the top dog.  2) Cleveland - especially if they're healthy.  3) McMinn Central - post play may kill them starting with substate (depending on who they play).  4) McMinn Co. - definitely improving under Coach Tucker!  5-10) I don't know much about the rest of the teams except for Meigs so I'd pick Meigs 5th - though coaching decisions kills them at times.

Agree with top 4. The next 3 may be Whitwell, Meigs Co & Tellico Plains.

Whitwell - beat Meigs Co & will play them again

Meigs - lost to Whitwell & Polk Co; beat McMinn Co & Tellico Plains

Tellico Plains - beat Polk Co & Walker Valley: lost to McMinn Central & Meigs

Probably 7-8 teams after that all about the same.

Just below the state line, it’s crazy LFO didn’t win a game last year now undefeated. Beat Méigs handily in their tournament final.

They have several transfers. The Simmons sisters from Lookout Valley are great ball handlers & shooters. The younger one has a high ceiling. Not sure where the other girls came from.

I would put Bearden way above Cookeville and the rest of 4A right now.  That Ensworth game is all the proof you need.   Sullivan is a stud.  I think there are a lot of close teams in the next 5.

    Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
I thought Sullivan might go somewhere a little bigger than TN Tech, but I guess it was a good fit. They are getting a really good player.

I thought Beardon would win it last year. But there’s several good teams that can compete with Beardon this year. Cookeville, Bradley, Coffee Co to just name a few.

I think Bearden is head & shoulders better than anyone in the East (that’s only area I’m real familiar with). They have two 2022 guards transfer in from Kings Academy in last 2 years that have committed (maybe signed, not sure) with TN Tech & Lee University.  I understand they have some bigs too. I would say there is at least a 50% chance they win AAAA.

Cleveland was without two starters and their head coach.

I knew something had to happen. I will really be surprised if it’s not Bradley and Cleveland

I don’t follow. What had to happen?

    Bradley

    McMinn Central

    Cleveland

    Meigs

    McMinn County

    Tellico

    Baylor

    Silverdale

    Whitwell

    Polk

    Walker Valley

    This could change every week.

Not a bad list. Whitwell won at Meigs Co. by 11, so that is the main one I would have a few spots higher (rematch at Whitwell later in season). After the top 3, I really think the next bunch of teams are all fairly equal.

Howards girls srent that good... Only score 9 points on Bradley. I mean its a big school,  shoukd be able to get at least 20 on anybody. Yeah bradley is one of the besst teams in the state but still

Wrong thread… this the boys page. You started the thread. Did you forget? LOL

Upset already on the boys aaaa. Bradley beat cleveland pretty handidly Friday night at smiddy. Cleveland got outplayed. Bradley is supposed to be in a rebuilding year with a new coach and only 4 seniors. Should be interesting district race between them mcminn,  wv,  and cleveland

Cleveland lost 3 really good seniors from last year. I don’t think many realize just how good Grant Hurst was. He & McGowan did all the little things very well & didn’t really care who got the credit. They both were great leaders & that can be hard to replace. I think Cleveland will play better by the end of the year.
