Lets hear those Cleveland vs Bradley predictions?  I haven't seen Cleveland play this year so I don't know exactly what they have but I did see BC play when we beat them this summer.  They definitely lost alot from last years team but are still a good team.   Does the streak end this year?

You can always count on LadyCavsFan to pump up a good ole “summer ball” victory. I have no doubt that Cookeville would have lots of gold balls if they were handed out in the summer.

These teams at the Bradley thanksgiving classic aren’t any good at all.

East Hamilton did beat Riverdale last week, but you are generally correct. Ensworth & Baylor used to make it a stronger field. Not sure why they can’t get more good teams to play. I’m sure Cleveland was hoping for some better competition when they agreed to play.

  3. Here is my Chattanooga area top 10 girls teams after a few weeks into the season.

    1. Bradley - still gelling after losing 3 starters & 6 of top 10 players from last season; but their 2nd team would probably beat everyone from #4 down. Lots of talent.

    2. Cleveland - plays at Bradley this Friday. Can beat Bradley if they shoot well & Bradley doesn’t.

    3. McMinn Central - will get another chance at Bradley later in year. May be the team in the area with the chance to go deepest in the State Tourney.

    4. McMinn County - lost to McMinn Central last week. I’m curious to see how their games go with Cleveland and Walker Valley.

    5. Baylor - probably best PG in area & always well coached & well disciplined.

    6. Whitwell - plays Meigs Fri Dec 3rd, so will see if they belong this high.

    7. Tellico Plains - I don’t know much about them, but they play McMinn Central & Meigs in early December, so we will find out

    8. Walker Valley - Young team with some good players (i think 6 of top 8 players are sophomores)

    9. Silverdale - young team that lost a lot to graduation. Lost to Walker Valley last week with a couple key players out.

    10. Boyd Buchanan - returns top 2 players from pretty good team last year.

I wanted to include Meigs Co on here, but saw that they lost to Polk Co. They both play in District with McMinn Central & Tellico Plains, so should shake out more later in the season.

All - Feel free to chime in & let me know what I missed. This is not perfect, but just a basis for discussion… best wishes to all teams.

    Bradley

    Cleveland

    McMinn

    Rhea

    Walker Valley

    Howard

This is what I am thinking barring injuries

I would put WV over Rhea for 4th. Will be interesting to see if there are any upsets in those 2-4 teams. I don’t think Cleveland will lose to anyone besides Bradley, so the WV vs McMinn Co games should be the most competitive to watch.

    Bump...

What are the thoughts now that we are a couple weeks away from the start?

    1. Bradley - still figuring things out after losing a lot of really good players from last year (including Miles moving to Louisiana & 6’2” Falcon out for the year with leg injury). Jones, Carpenter & Crittenden will have to step it up & will need 3-5 3 pointers a game from Weber & Swick

    2. Cleveland - looks good so far with a decisive win over Riverdale. I think they are a lock for 2nd & may have a chance to beat Bradley if they can make shots.

    3. McMinn Co -

    4. Walker Valley -

McMinn Central will probably have the best team in the Chattanooga area. Meigs will take a step back after losing some good players the last couple years. Bradley will be pretty good but not what they have been in the past.

Good input. Thanks! I think I saw where McMinn Central plays Bradley this year, so would be some good games to go to.

  7. It’s too early for me to put together a top 10 for Chattanooga area girls teams (in TN of course). Here are a few (many of who would have been in last year’s final top 10) but you all please help me out.

Bradley Central - despite graduating 4 pretty good seniors & a transfer to Louisiana (and a 6’2” post to a knee injury) they will be really good again. A senior & a top back up from last year just signed with Carson Newman. 2 All-State caliber junior starters returning. I don’t think there is a close second in the area.

Meigs County - graduated a really good senior group from last year, but always strong & well coached. Any ideals on how they will do?

Baylor - graduated the best player in Chattanooga last year to the ACC & some good role players. Some really good returning players. May be 2nd best team in the area this year. They play Bradley early, so will be interesting game.

Cleveland - lost 6 seniors last year from last years teams, including a few playing in college. Lots of talent, but young. Well coached. Maybe #3 in the area this year by end of season?

Whitwell - well coached & good talent. Coaches daughter will be playing somewhere in college if she wants to.

McMinn Central - always well coached & take basketball very seriously. Good group of returning players. Are they better than Meigs Co this year?

Silverdale - lost 5 seniors, including 3 playing at next level.     Will have to get good production from a decent group of returning players & also from a number of freshman & sophomores?

Signal Mountain - graduated 2 really good seniors. One at TN Tech. What do they have back?

Brainerd  - some good talent. How should they be?

Tyner - also some talent. How should they be?

Tell me who I am missing & what you may know more about these teams.  Thanks!

Maryville and Bradley should cruise. Farragut could get Sci Hill. Cleveland got the short end of this. West Ridge may very well be the best team in Region 1 right now.

This aged pretty well. Bradley has to be happy that Farragut came back to win & they get to host in round 2 vs traveling to Virginia. Should be a good game.
Bradley will have to play better than the have the last few weeks to win. I just wonder how bad teams want to win to get the opportunity to play Maryville again…

How is the QB play? Sounds like a well rounded team. Curious about some of the losses they took. Injuries?

Cleveland QB is athletic & a gamer. Will keep the ball & pick up 8-10 yards on a called pass  if receivers are covered & defense doesn’t have some one on him.
I watched the Bradley game on TV & Bradley’s QB was banged up & wasn’t mobile at all & I thought Bradley was fortunate to win the game. Cleveland threw 2 pick 6’s in 2nd half & was difference in game.
I know Cleveland’s #44 played very little & Cleveland’s QB got his bell rung late in Q2. He played part of 2nd half, but was clearly not the same. I honestly don’t recall if #2 played much or not.
Again - Bradley had some injuries too, but I did feel like Cleveland would have scored a lot more points if they were all healthy. Bradley would have scored more too if their QB was healthy.
My overall point is that there is very little difference in #2 through #5 in Region 2 & I think the scores demonstrate that. Bradley didn’t dominate #5 Bearden & it took a 40+ yard FG to beat #4 Farragut in last minute of that game.

They are very balanced. Good RB but their best player is WR #2 Destun Thomas.

#2 WR / DB Thomas is committed to Memphis.
#44 Tetoe Boyd is a state champ wrestler who can carry the rock & knock people’s heads back on defense.
good supporting cast too. Lots of athletes.

  11. Bradley, Cleveland, Farragut (& even Bearden) are all about the same. Farragut is a pretty good #4 seed & Cleveland is really good if they are all healthy. Cleveland had some key players hobbled with injuries in the Bradley game.
Maryville of course is in a different stratosphere.
Not sure why Jackson Wilson didn’t play tonight for Bears vs Maryville. He has around 1,800 yards rushing this year, he is Bradley’s punter too & the punt team looked like a middle school JV team tonight without him. Wouldn’t have made a difference in the outcome, but it would have been closer at halftime if he had played.

What does anybody know about Silverdale vs CAK?  It looks like that game is for 2nd and 3rd in the region.  The winner plays the middle #5 at home and the 3 plays the west 3.

Silverdale has a few players quarantined for tonight, including their all time leading RB with over 5,000 career all-purpose yards, and another 2 way senior starter, among others.
I have no idea why Silverdale is ranked ahead of Webb (or CPA). Makes the people that do the polls either not real smart, or they just don’t pay attention (not sure which is worse - LOL).

Bradley envy?????  What's there to be envious about?????   If you think they're special, then you need to get out of Cleveland on occasions.

I have lived outside Cleveland/Bradley County for 11 years.  I didn’t say Bradley was special or would compete with Maryville.
Who is your team this year?
I don’t see you pumping up your team. I just see you saying that Bradley getting beat by one score is getting spanked & you evidently didn’t know who Rhea’s losses were to, or you wouldn’t have implied that having 2 losses made them a bad team. (In other words, you are demonstrating that you aren’t too bright, or that you are a Bradley hater, but I’m leaning towards both..).

Brad Lee got spanked at home tonight by a 2 loss 5A team, so their butt may still be a little sore when Maryville gives them their annual butt-whoopin.

Sounds like a case of little man’s syndrome (Bradley envy)…

You may want to see who Rhea’s losses are to.

One thing is for sure after watching some film Marcus Goree Jr is a big time talent. We should not kick it to him, several times he was one tackle away from going to the house.

Goree would have a lot more yards of receiving this year if he could catch better… I didn’t get to see much of tonight’s game, but he has lots of dropped balls this year. Good athlete- will have opportunity to play defense at next level.
