On to something more important; tonight USJ/NCS game. The last game was a very close ball game that could have gone either way. Both teams made some critical mistakes and NCS was able to capitalize a little more than the Bruins. Looks like the rain will be done by game time but the field will be very wet. NCS QB threw for over 320 yards last time. If the Bruins are able to slow him down; I think it will lead to a USJ victory. Like most football games; the team with the least amount of turnover most likely wins. Should end up being a beautiful night for high school football. I pray for safe travels and a injury free game. It should be a good one! USJ 24-14
You forgot to mention a part of NCS that is always lurking to bite them in the butt - penalties. Seems like a personal foul or two is par for the course and if they come at inopportune times it will cost them a close game.
With that being said, I don't think any D is going to hold NCS to 14 points. The field drains well so wetness won't be a factor. NCS will sling it around and maybe this time, gain some on the ground as well.
NCS 24, USJ 13 (NCS has a pretty decent placekicker)

My broadcast partner who I do TCA football and basketball games with, Dave McCulley, does a 2-hour Sports call-in show every Monday night on Fox Sports Jackson 105.3. I will usually do a high school segment for about 20 to 30 minutes each Monday night.. you should check it out sometime. It is on from 5 until 7 p.m. . You can listen online at http://www.foxsportsjackson.com .
I second the kudos on your local sports enthusiasm. My son graduated from NCS 4 years ago and I just can't get Friday nights out of my blood.

LOL these new DII threads should get interesting.
What's your take on the Eagles this year?
-
I haven't been to any NCS scrimmages this summer. Will someone please fill me in on the depth chart at QB, RB, and Wide-outs?
-
I thought they had national coach of the year ???
Coach Grider will mop him up - trust me.
-
Their playoff record is 10-13.
There's a reason for that. You'll see what I mean Friday night. Just watch the play calling.
-
We just P....d all over that ship and it's captain.
Is that really what was said? Oh, I hope you guys hang 70 on 'em. And while you're at it, shut 'em out.
-
It will be interesting to see how CA handles getting a defense coming after them.
They couldn't handle it the last few times we played them.
-
This is a pretty cool story!

Thanks for posting that. WC can be very proud of their program and this coach. It doesn't get any better than 1A football. Very sad we are moving on.
-
I think Kenny is being sarcastic yall.
He is - we know CA coaching very well - look up the head coach's resume.
-
It's coming... I called this one awhile back. Columbia Academy is in trouble. I hope I see that group that was drunk and cursing at us last year in SP.
Don't know if it makes much difference in this one, but Roy's Grider man will outcoach CA by a mile.
-
You nailed it. Coach Rice and crew have probably watched the Huntingdon film and there's a game plan in place where NCS will see a lot of counter plays and passes in the flat. I see QB Rice putting on a option clinic as well. Unless things get better in a hurry I forsee WC - 42 - NCS 27 or worse.
This looks to be WC's year. Unless NCS plays 4 quarters of disciplined ball (haven't done that in a long time) and WC turns the ball over (a lot) this one could get ugly. This will be the most balanced offense NCS has faced all year. Preston Rice could very well make our defense look silly all night.

Just proves that Mr Football is a farce. Jake put up absurd #'s that year and was a #1 student and kid. Mr Football is a complete joke with its middle/east bias
Mr. Warbritton was first class (I'm sure he still is). He sprinted to the sideline to get every play call, sprinted through our defense for who knows how many yards, and then picked up the kid that tackled him time and time again. Very impressive young man. Is he still helping (coaching) with the team?
-
he heads to the right sideline every time. He repeatedly jukes left then continues to the right. The first step to stopping him would be to put a man right on the right sideline before the ball is even snapped
well then..... put all 11 D-men on that sideline
-
It was one poster referring on how to stop #11. That's all. And he's not a Huntingdon poster. We all know how great and almighty NC is and how tough of a task it's going to be for the Mustangs. We are still going to load the bus and travel down I-40 and play. I just hope it's not as ugly as last year! Good luck to your Eagles.
I'm excited about our end of the bracket. Should make for some great matchups.
Whoever wins our bracket will be State Champeeeeeens.

I honestly think you are wrong. We are not that much different than last year's team. Backs are better, d line the same, special teams better, linebackers, well you can't replace a Bituli but we are as solid as it gets in 1a. Defensive secondary... Best in state for 1a. Not a single poster on any thread has a bead on it. Im not being a jerk.. It's just playoff time.
Well said. Cracks me up when someone says this year's team is not as good as last year's. I guess 2 losses on the schedule will make folks say that - but it's not true at all. NCS has never had a secondary like this.
A match up with WC and Mr. Football will be mighty fun to watch. Best all-around HS QB I've ever seen us play.
-
yes NCS has done a great job recruiting speed for their team...still, overplay the right side of
the NCS offense and get them out of their comfort zone...run blitz, overload, whatever...then
man up tight on 3 all night and remember wilhoite is looking for the edge on the right sideline...make sure you turn him inside and dont buy the head and shoulder fakes to the left, he is going to the right...all night
How many times have you seen #11 carry the ball? He hasn't had enough carries all year for anyone to establish the pattern you are describing.
-
Man, you've got to jump over on the South Pitt thread. Its gooooooooood!
Just got caught up on the SP thread - too funny.
-
One of our players said he got punched in his man parts and the kid who did it had to leave the game with an injured hand or wrist injury.
There's something about Cwood and grabbing man parts. I'll bet their wrestling team has some real pretty boys on it.
-
Collinwood is coached to grab the man parts of their opponents. Pitiful and sad.
Maybe they enjoy grabbing man parts.
-
Blaine Bevis became wc's first 1,000 yard receiver
Dang. That's pretty impressive. And he did that playing how many quarters of ball?
-
MTCS QB is their only weapon if you focus your attack on QB and if you have wooed with your LB like TC has he won't be a problem either I think WC can win by 40 points I hope WC takes out the cocky NCS this year too I'm pulling for you'll to make it to Cookeville as well I think you'll can beat NCS and Gordonsville has a great defense but no speed I think WC will cruise to semifinals
Wait... WC is going on a cruise? Then we might have a chance against them in a couple of weeks.
-
Worse half of football WC has played all year! Refs making their presence known also
Score?
-
Wait - this was supposed to be close, right?

I'm sure there's an interested party willing to make up the $5k for a football kid.
