So your district isn’t as strong as it has been in the past few years. Indy who went to state  the two years they were in 5a and summit who went to state the past two years. Also, during the Indy period you had Stewart’s creek, Lavergne, Indy and summit in district. All to which are now 6a and dropped down from 6a then. Sorry but this interim hasn’t done anything that’s special this season bc the combined record of opponents columbia has beaten has a record of 16-46 before playoffs.  All this exposure of how columbia has gotten better this year is false advertising. Sorry but I’ve watched columbia play since the 90s and they haven’t been relative till they dropped to 5a then had a good group of players that came through. They are still the same since then. This hype of being the state champs year type of program is far gone. Good year for all the baggage that came with it but it wasn’t bc of the coaching I’m sure. Sorry, but columbia isn’t a program like it was back in 2009 to 2012. Too much hype from people on the radio and around town that don’t know football very well.

Nice 3rd post!  Didn't see any posters compare this Columbia team to their State Title team.  Fact is the new coach took over very close to the start of the season.  Many folks agree that given the circumstances, the Lions were coached well and were very competitive.  Who is your team and how did they do this season?

I don't understand this post at all. Alcoa has kids playing from all kinds of backgrounds. Kids from every public school in this state have issues that every coach has to worry about. Schools in East Tn have the same problems middle and west do. Kids from low income , single parent households are not exclusive to metro areas either. I have fed kids before games when I know it's the best they have eaten all week and sent plates home for their families. I know kids that have had to miss practice to cut hay or other family things. Upper east Tennessee kids. Knoxville has lost promising young athletes this year to gun violence and this is what you got? East Tennessee privilege? PUHLEEZZZ...

PB & J is not expensive and I know coaches who provide kids with food all year long.  It is part of coaching in metro (Shelby, Davidson and Knox Counties) if the coaches truly care.  I would assume PC does some of this too.

  3. Metro needs to let the schools fundraise for artificial turf fields and match these funds.  I assume it is 7-8 hundred grand for a turf field these days.  Although the others will be upset at first, pick a school cluster to start at and then do a new school/cluster every two years until they make it through the county.

At least three. Cane RIdge, Pearl Cohn and East Nashville.

McGavock and Stratford will get beat.

Overton will give Beech more of a game than you think.

So to answer your question half of them at least.

I agree with this prediction.  I previously was not sure about CR but I now believe they advance to round 2.

How many teams in metro have a chance to go past 1st playoff game? PC seems to have best chance but barely got past MC.

MC is pretty good this year so the PC score was not a surprise.  PC & East advance past round 1.  I hope others do as well but the rest will likely be underdogs.  Best of luck to all the Metro teams in the November/Dec.

The Tennessee AP top 10 for each division came out Monday, 4 region 5 teams are listed in the top 10 for 4A.  This is Tullahoma’s 3rd home game and it will be Tullahoma’s 3rd home opponent that is ranked in the top 10.  Tullahoma (ranked 2) has already  beaten Marshall County (ranked 8) 28-20 and Pearl Cohn (ranked 5)  24-21.  Montgomery Central (MC) is ranked 7th and brings a 7 game win streak to Tullahoma.  I believe MC has been playing really good football during their 50th anniversary; but, I don’t believe they have played a team as talented as Tullahoma this year.  I believe Tullahoma wins this one 45-7 and ends Montgomery Central’s undefeated season.

I believe Tullahoma wins the ballgame but I don't see them scoring 45 on MC.  The battle of the trenches will be fun to watch in this one.

The Metro AD has no real say-so in who each school hires. They changed that process long ago.

With the last Metro AD it was actually a good idea for him not to have any input.  There is a reason he was demoted.

I don't recall who was the Metro AD prior to the current AD?  Please refresh us on who it was.  Regarding a coach who could hypothetically lead a Metro All-Star team to a victory over Oakland/Maryville, my pick would be Blade (last Metro coach to win a state football title)

I seriously think it’s showing up that metro closed the weight rooms and kids couldn’t really lift. Even in the spring they couldn’t lift.

Good points.  Abbreviated short season for Metro High School / JV teams last year didn't help player development.  The Metro Middle Schools had no athletics last year which puts today's freshmen way behind.  Kids and Coaches can't be blamed for the admin/gov. mandates.

There isn't a single person in Tennessee who thinks PC is afraid of Lipscomb.

If we're using this logic, Dilfer and Lipscomb ran away from all of AAA by not moving up last off season.  You'd think with a team full of multi state mercenaries he'd want the best competition around...

Just curious to know why PC with an enrollment that appears to place them in 3A, choose to move up to 4A ?

How about just tell us where the kid he assaulted went to middle school.

The young man was not assaulted.  Quit trying to blow this up into something it is not.  Coach Dilfer addressed the issue and it is squashed.  I don't know Dilfer and could care less about Lipscomb but i respect him and his players and assistant coaches do to.

that largest player in the state decided to not play his senior year so that oline just got worse

I was unaware that he decided not to play his senior year.  I couldn't fathom passing up the opportunity to play HS ball with my boys one last season but I guess he has his reasons.

how will hillsboro’s season turn out?

Metro needs a good competitive Hillsboro team to be among Nashville's elite.  In the recent past, the Burros have been one of Metro's most consistent teams regarding wins/competitiveness.  They should have a really good OLine this year with maybe the largest player in the state anchoring its Oline.  I'm hoping they can make a playoff run this season.

  13. Haven't seen Overton play in a few years so i can't comment on the previous staff.  I do know Broome will have the kids play very hard for him.  Excited to see Overton become more competitive moving forward.

If you remember around 1999 and 2000 Maplewood was 0-20 or 1-19 there for a 2 year period and had no players.

Less than 10 years later they were playing Maryville tooth and nail in the state finals (2007).

I promise you it’s not a bleak as you initially think.

Good luck to the Panthers as they try and find their new coach.  Great tradition at Maplewood with good community support when they are winning.  Hillsboro and Maplewood were the two Metro big dogs at the time (2003-2009).  Wonder if G Tate going to Maplewood instead of JPII would have put them over the top or D Mason going to Maplewood instead of PC would have put them over the top?

Look at Metro Middle School football right now..... They didn't even get to play last year so all metro teams are starting behind everyone else....  as usual.   Our leaders let these kids down imo.
