  2. Yea Hall was as quick as they come he averaged like 5 steals a game. No doubt that they miss his speed. To make things worst both there starting PG and back up are out for the season with injuries. Both have not played this year. That job was given to sophomore Norl brother Matthew who is a natural on the block a great passer who make great decisions but is not a point. I wish I could grab those nachos with you but I'm not sure I'm going to make that game. Maybe next time.
  3. Interesting I did not know that Stigall use to coach at Cheatham another good story line. I do remember the fall league is that where Norl took the MVP
  4. I remember that game Saunders went off for like 30+. It was the first time I saw him play and he did not disappoint. But it felt like he did not pass the ball one time in that game. He was their best scoring option and he knew it. I know Norl remembers it. But you right about it being a good one.
  5. Bradford is a hooper in every aspect but someone mentioned 4 stars???? That's very generous. Is he a senior? If so were has he committed or what offers are on the to table?
  6. The Saunders kid is a straight baller. I saw him last year and I'm sure he has improved. Should be a good one against Norl and A good Kenwood team tomorrow. On a neutral court I like Kenwood by double digits at Cheatham a great game on tap against two top 25 teams, hopefully a close one with a lot of lead changes.
  7. An extra 10 feet is a big difference for teams who full court press/ trap.
  8. Just some fun to kick off the new year. 1. White Station 2. Siegel 3. Brentwood 4. Kenwood 5. Dyer County 6. Houston 7. Stone Memorial 8. Arlington 9. Blackman 10. Jefferson County Sleeper Team : Henry County Let the debate begin
  9. MVP: Rivers is a senior. I was just there over the holidays watching some good basketball.
  10. Well I would have to agree after watching them play CPA last week I thought they defended them about as good as anyone. But after watching South Fulton a team that is very well coached, and plays a very structured style offense with back cuts, well set screens off there motion and players who are quick and can shoot it. I think they have a little bit more work to do. I do however still think they are one of the better defensive teams in the state. They held them to 20 points in the second half Now the Norl kid is a stud and I think he is the most college ready 2 guard in the state very little bad habits defends the best player on the court and is often defended by the other team best player. Not a 50 point a game scorer but constantly gets you 20-30 on12shots. Jemario Rivers is a mid major level talent who's academics are holding him back. There were schools at the gym watching him play. The lob Norl threw to Rivers for the slam, to take the lead and win on the last play of the game was special and takes a lot of trust at the HS level. There are a few teams in AAA that will give them a run. But after overcoming two back to back double digit deficits against quality top ten caliber teams, to win the championship. I think as a team they now have the mentality that they are never out of a game. And with a healthy Norl and Rivers my money is on this Kenwood squad who has yet to to play a game with there starting point guard.
  11. Is there any body worthy of posting here without having to prove a point to you?
  12. We aren't taking about "many different types of zones" we are talking about a 2-3. I will ask the question as I see fit not based on what you deem a "worthwhile conclusion". Amongst other thing a 2-3 is often used to hide one or more weak individual defenders on the team, CPA has a few of them.
  13. I haven't got a chance to see them play yet but I sure hope to catch a game soon
  14. that may be true if you are trying to gauge defensive talent by stats or on paper I am using the eye test. Extending your guards to rely on your second line of defense is not good coaching it is the exact opposite. It defies the sole purpose of zone defense.
  15. Although I agree they played poor defense last night against DC, Who have you seen play that has better half court D.
  16. I saw both of those games. cascade won against Kenwood on a last sec buzzer beater with 3 of Kenwood starters missing that game. If Kenwood plays cascade 10 times Kenwood wins 9 of them by double digits. CPA beats cascade by at least 20 but realistically it will be by 30 or 40 with the starters resting in the 4th.
  17. Perhaps I should have made it a bit more clear I'm talking about half court defense. CPA ran a full court press the whole game there half court defense is really bad but anchored by a extremely gifted big in Blackwell who makes up for a lot of mistakes CPAs guards extend there 2-3 zone to far. They are good group but to say they win games due to there defense is flat out wrong they win because they out score you.
  18. So this might be a bold assumption to make considering I have only seen about 20% of teams in TN play. But I know basketball and these kids play disciplined man defense with precise rotation. Some of the best I have seen at the HS level. They allow about 47 points a game and do it without fullcourt press ect. They let you run your sets and they just defend it well and force you into mistakes. They held a high-powered CPA offense in the 40's, then multiple late 4th quarter fouls trying to slow the game down forced a lot a free throws. Today they play another high powered offense in Dyer County. Which I plan to see. Has any one else seen Kenwood play? Do you agree? Or do you know of any other defensive minded teams out there that are fun to watch. I've seen Brentwood and Blackman play both get after it as well
  19. Wondering if there starters were missing for there 4th loss in a row. #runthetable
  20. I think Station camp got exposed this weekend. One of the most over rated team I have seen in a while. Some people had them at 3 or 4 in there polls. Which they would have never done had they seen them play one quarter of basketball
  21. . Kenwood and Henry county will be 1 and 2 in 10 aaa. Kenwood has the talent to make a deep run this year if they can get either one of there PG's on the floor.(been out all year with injuries) There denfense is as good as any at this level. they played CPA yesterday and held them to 9 points in the first and 23 in the half, before foul trouble exposed there bench. Who ever ends up in 4th in 9aaa will not have it easy when they play this kenwood squad.
  22. Clarksville NE is not the second best team in 10aaa they are way down this year and have overachieved thus far. If they make it to the top 4 then they have accomplished quite a bit.
