  1. Two awesome games tonight!!!! Was a lot of fun to watch. Congratulations to Coach Micah Rochester and Lorett"O" for their first district tournament championship in 53 years. Loretto being as deep as they are and playing 10-12 players every night takes great coaches to allow all the players from freshman to senior a chance to improve. Congrats to Luke Scott from Summertown! They really got it right this year with the MVP. The MVP goes to the player that is most valuable to THEIR team and it was certainly Scott. 19 points in the first half of the game tonight. Also congrats to Lane Myhan for scoring his 1000th point in tonight's game! I'm excited for the Regional Tourney! Best of luck to all the teams from our district next week! Side note: Lorett"O" was established in 1812 and originally called "Glen Rock" but the name was changed in 1871 to LorettO. It's been called the same and spelled the same ever since. Go Mustangs!!!!!!!
  2. I just heard the news that Seth Wright has made a decision about his Collegiate Athletic Future. Wright has decided to attend Bethel University on a Basketball Scholarship. I had heard from a few reliable sources that he had 3 Div.1 OVC offers, after an impressive Senior season, apparently this one was an offer he couldn't refuse. I would like to wish Seth and all of his teammates from this past season the best of luck in all of their endeavors.
  3. Which college was it that he went too? The coaches that keep the stats for that website do not keep up with blocks. He has had 11 double digit block games this year. As for him not touching the floor in AA or AAA? Come on man. He's almost 6'8". He could play anywhere in the state. Sorry for the mistaken stats. But the blocks haven't been recited on the site. If you've seen him play any at all this year you know that he averaged more than 2.2. But please do get back to me on who your nephew is and which school that was. Because I know for a fact that you made that up.
  4. Well opinions are opinions. Stats don't lie. If you get on the main website of unapproved website just go to the stats leaders and see for yourself. Top 5 in ALL DIVISONS in the state of Tennessee top 5 rankings include Rebouding Blocks Assists and Points by position. He is a few blocks away from averaging a triple double. Stats don't lie. But I understand where your coming from. If he has a big night against Loretto Tuesday he could finished the tournament averaging a triple double. If your the keeper of all information.... Could you tell me the last time that a player in our district has averaged a Triple double. Or even close? http://www.unapproved website.com/m/player/default.aspx?athleteid=88b4bcee-4d78-4e90-91a3-4f1dcb893adc&ssid=8f3d7615-5396-400f-a736-d120db2726b4 Here's the link.
  5. Well... We finally hear from the Edney camp. This is what we see in Seth Wright. 13 rebounds per game and 8 blocks per game. That's the stats that he can control. His points come off rebounds. He doesn't get the ball in the post so the 13 PTs he is averaging could be much more. He is the best player in the district this year on the single fact that he makes teams one dimensional. I was wondering when PC was gonna show back up. Go Eagles. I hope they have an incredible game tonight as a team.
  6. They should be playing like juniors. They continue to struggle though. And if the news about Luke Scott is true I predict Summertown turning the ball over at least 20 times tonight. He is the only person on the team that can get the ball down the floor and its because he's not worried about how it looks. It's simple and very businesslike. Very few turnovers. Without him it is gonna get ugly I believe. Hopefully not though. The one reason I see one side of the story is because there's only one side that matters. W or L . Which one do you want???
  7. Ok two things. I completely agree with you that nobody is perfect and I'm sure they are trying as hard as they can well most of them. But sports are suppose to prepare you for the work place. If I do an awful job at work next week do you think "I did my best" is going to save my job? Nope. The "trying their best" excuse doesn't work here that's for Saturday league where everyone gets a participation trophy. I'll call the TSSAA and see where they stand on letting us play a participation game this year at the state tournament. 2nd thing. If its the coaches responsibility to fix this, when do you think they are going to do that? If this was going to be fixed it was in the first 2 weeks not the last two games. We can continue this conversation whenever you get realistic.
  8. I don't care if they are 6th graders. If they can't play they don't need to be out there. Your last post made you look like you haven't been to a game all year. It's not the sophomores I'm talking about. I'm talking about a junior that has really hurt them all year. "If he could catch the passes thrown to him"? You do understand that 95% of his points come from offensive rebounds and from the high post, right? He didn't touch the ball on a post feed until the 3rd quarter against FH. You must have been there, you seen that right? Maybe this is why he had 6 in the first half and ended the game with 22? If the guards are unable to look over defenders and see him, they don't need to be out there. They panic while defended hints turnovers. Seth is a very weak playing post player. He only seals his man for a couple of seconds. If they can't find him sealed then that's his fault but when the passes are there he catches them. The turnovers DO NOT come from post feeds. That's for sure. The turnovers come from panicking when they are guarded, not being able to pass out of pressure, and trying to make flashy moves getting the ball up the floor. It doesn't matter how it looks. That's the message we need to get across here.... It's not the NBA it's High school. Nobody cares what you look like dribbling the ball up the floor. We would much rather see you get the ball up the floor under control. Also, I haven't downgraded anyone. It's not like I'm making things up its clear as day I can see it every game. The only person making things up would be you making excuses for why they can't get it done. "They are Sophomores" that's a crutch. I played at Summertown 3 years ago and all I want is to see that program succeed and get back to where it was. Lets take a look at the Sophomores your talking about though. Well 2 of them at least. Camden Perry is a pure shooter when he's on. He's not fast enough yet to play much defense. He doesn't need to dribble. He will be a very good player when his athleticism comes around. Luke Scott has been the savior of this team. Without him they don't get the ball up the floor. He penetrates zones and gets layups. He has started shooting more lately and is a great player. He gets a little out of control sometimes but he helps that team tremendously with the loss of McGill (the real point guard) those where probably the two Sophomore guards you were talking about me downgrading. I hope that I am proven wrong tomorrow night and they come out and play the game of the century but that's what's happened all year long. If you have been there then you've see it too. Tomorrow night pay more attention to what actual happens when they get their tales kicked.
  9. I have to agree here. WC will win this game but its not because of "BIG Country??" It will be because Summertowns Guard play won't carry them to the championship.
  10. Watching the First round of the 12A district tournament tonight was painful. Both teams moving on played awful. All four teams that played tonight played awful. Maybe we can chalk it up to a neutral gym, but Loretto didn't put Perry County away like they should have, but that was without the Burks boy. He is a huge part of that team, probably their best player. Summertown has it all sitting in front of them and they refuse to use it. Camden Perry shot the ball very well. but Seth Wright (6'8'' 240 pounds) didn't touch the ball on a post feed until the 3rd quarter. He had 6 points in the First half and finished the game with 22 (Team decided to use him in the 2nd half) I have to give Timmy Beard and Seth Wright credit though, regardless of how non-exsistant the Guard play is for Summertown, they continue to work in the paint. For Summertown to win on Friday, Seth Wright needs to touch the ball 20 times. Thats not 20 shots he just needs to touch it 20 times on Offense. WC will swarm him after he scores the first 10 points of the game and for the rest of the game Camden Perry and Luke Scott can shoot uncontested. They HAVE to use him. He has carried them all year with the resistance of his teammates, Its time for them to let it happen. I'm interested to see the Loretto and C-Wood game as well as the WC-Summertown games on Friday. I really don't see a game in either one. If the same teams from tonight show up friday, WC and Collinwood will cake walk to the Championship game. Quick Question: Does anyone know when the Championship game will be played?
  11. Wow! Must have been a great game. Didn't expect to see that score. Congrats to Culleoka.
  12. Very Humble Post sir. This guy sounds like someone I would like for my kids to play for. Most AAU coaches these days are in it for the portion of the money left over. Thanks
  13. I may be wrong but the Summertown FH game tomorrow may get out of hand early. The regular season is one thing but the playoffs are different. I hope coach hunt leaves the team in for the entirety of the game. Let them get settled in to PC's atmosphere. They need momentum and rythum going into Friday and they aren't going to get it by playing two quick quarters against FH after this long break.
  14. I know that coach. He's a joke. He's not a real basketball coach. He's just an adult that goes to games with the team. He swiped a large amount of money from the team last year too.
  15. From Summertown I see Luke Scott and Seth Wright. MVP either Seth Wright or the Edney boy. I think it depends on how the tournament goes. If we are picking to player that has the biggest role on a team, who is the most valuable to a teams success, then it's Seth Wright. You could give it to Edney but he doesn't provide success for that team. 5-5 in District play. 4th place in the district. I would also say Montgomery from Collinwood but without Montgomery they would still be the best team in the District. Without Wright from Summertown they are a 5-6 seed in this tourney coming up.
  16. Another huge night for Seth Wright in the loss to Richland. It was 18-17 Richland at halftime. Seth had 10 PTs 9blocks 8 rebounds at the half. That being said.... Why would Summertown come out in the 3rd Quarter and completely go away from him? The Morrison kid turned the ball over at least 6 times in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd and Seth Wright touched the ball 1 time in that Quarter. At some point you gotta ask yourself. Is there waisted space on the floor? There's 2 and Sometimes 3 players on the floor for Summertown that don't contribute enough to the team to justify playing 25+ minutes/game. The guard play has killed them all year. They can't protect the ball. Waisted possessions off of turnovers and ill advised shots. Every team that Summertown plays dominates the glass. It's not the opponents post players either. It's the guards that go uncontested to the glass and get the rebounds. The big guy down low is doing all he can do but he can't block out 4-5 players. Simple little stuff between now and the Wayne County game and I believe it gets interesting. But I will be the last person to come out with a bias prediction or a no brainer #1-#2 pick. This district is top heavy. Collinwood is above and beyond the best team in the district but after that you can't find another complete team. Wayne County or Summertown with Collinwood in the final. I don't see Summertown playing with WC though. Regardless of how big of a game Wright has, Summertowns guards can't play with WC. Sorry for the long post guys. I had a lot to say. Safe travels to You all, on your way to Linden next week.
  17. I hope I'm wrong because he's a good player, but I'm gonna call your bluff on those stats and ask for your proof? You can just post it here. Games played, points scored, and a game by game figure of shots made/attempted. 97.565492% of all statistics are made up. (Kind of like that one.)
  18. I would agree with you. I have not once said that Sunmertown is better than Collinwood because they aren't. But I disagree that the Perry County kid is the best in the district. It's kinda like Kobe. If you shoot 35 times a game your bound to have 20pts.
  19. I would agree with you. I have not once said that Sunmertown is better than Collinwood because they aren't. But I disagree that the Perry County kid is the best in the district. It's kinda like Kobe. If you shoot 35 times a game your bound to have 20pts.
  20. Maybe you should keep the stats next time. "IF" Loretto wins the first game of the district tournament maybe they will play in the second round. But my stats were kept from the press box and were checked with 2 other spreadsheets. Being honest I was surprised at the final talley as well, but what we have is what we have. It could have been more,,,, Loretto avoided the paint because he was down there. And as for saying that it was the best game of his career??? I'm not sure how things are in the Loretto locker room but just because he's a senior doesn't mean his career is over. He has college coaches at nearly every game. Lets not take away from the fact the Luke Scott and Nathaniel Morrison could do whatever they wanted last night. It's like a said in my past post regarding this game, "pick your poison" when you try to take Seth out of it, the gaurds get more space and they hurt you. when things are rolling for this team inside and out they are a top of the district team. If you would like to dispute the stats from last night I can send you a copy of the spreadsheets. I hope they play again. On a positive note though! Because I am not going to jump into this childish message board argument with you. There's no point in it because I have facts, where as you have speculation. Miles Burks is going to be an incredible player. I am very excited to watch him for the next couple of years. If Coach Rochester would build that team around him Loretto would have a great team for the next two years. He's athletic, physical, and not afraid to take the ball to the rim, mix that with a shot from 3. I don't know if he shoots like that every night but I hope he does because that kid can go places if he doesn't pick football or Baseball. I watched him play football this year and its obvious how much more athletic he is. The game is slow to him. Good luck Redtang with the rest of the season. Friday Night Loretto plays Wayne County I believe. I would suggest a notepad and pencil???
  21. Summertown sweeps Loretto on the year. Nathaniel Morris has his best game if the year and got hot from the floor. Just another day at the office for Seth Wright. 12pts 21reb. 11 blocks. Less points than the first meeting but probably the most affective. Again very limited scoring in the paint for Loretto. The only thing that kept it close was untimely turnovers in the first half by Morrison. Interested to see how this shakes up the district. We still have Summertown at Collinwood which could get ugly. Summertown struggles away from home. Any scores from the other games tonight? Summertown 52 Loretto 49 Final.
  22. Big game of the district for Tuesday. I would say it has to be Loretto at Summertown. Who knows which teams will show up. Both teams are so up and down. I do think that Loretto is the more talented team but if Summertown protects the ball and the Wright boy establishes himself Down low, Summertown will probably win. Last time against Loretto he went for 22pts 24 Rebounds 9or10 blocks. Loretto scored 4 points in the paint all night. It was obvious that Loretto wanted no part of the paint. Hints 10 blocks. If Summertown gives the inside game a chance to work (Seth Wright 10pts in the first quarter) I believe that will free up the Perry and Scott kids for three and penetration. Pick your poison with this one. I don't see the fowler kid being enough of a factor inside to stop what Seth Wright will do. Just depends on which Seth Wright shows up. Sorry for the lengthy reply. This game just interests me. Final pick though I have Loretto coming out and really putting up a great game but Summertown squeaking out at the end. Summertown is a really good team at home. "Usually" Summertown by 6
  23. Wayne county isn't hard to beat. Loretto handled them pretty easily tonight. Wayne County is the 4th or 5th best team in the district away from their home gym. They have a distinct advantage there with it being dark enough to get a good nights sleep in there. If you don't sit in the reserved seating you can't see the game without a flashlight. "Exaggeration". I feel like the district Tourney should be interesting this year with a cluster of close teams. But get WC out of Wayne county and they aren't one of those teams. C-Wood S-Town Lo-town PC WC FH Bottom 4-5 are a coin flip.
  24. Summertown did exactly what the should have done with Frank Hughes last night. Winning by 30+. JV was in the game for most of the 3rd Quarter. This team is gonna be scary to whoever draws them in the Tournament. I don't have the Stats in front of me but the Perry Kid got hot from behind the arc and the Wright boy had another big game I'm sure it was a double double (PTs-reb) I lost count on his rebounds at 15 and that was early in the 3rd. They looked good last night. It would be nice to see them come out tonight,on the road, and beat Forrest. Show people that they can play with intensity back to back nights. That's what they need for tournament play. Does anyone have anything on WC and Collinwood? I heard it was pretty close? Like 2 points?
  25. And here we are on January 22, 2013, 1 day after Summertown plays the best game they've played all year and take down the best team in the District. What is this teams identity? They are the best team in the District when they are able to establish inside play. Without inside play they manage to turn the ball over 20+ times per game. Tonight was an asolute beat down by Wayne County. They had a game plan and it worked to perfection. 2-3 zone all night. Make Summertowns Guards beat you and let them beat themselves. 3 players surrounding the Wright boy all night. I think he had 4 or 6 points, still had double digit rebounds and blocks, but where he goes they go. If he doesn't establish the Inside game then the guards have trouble.. I am having trouble knowing where this team stands, Who knows which team is going to show up. I guess we'll see Friday against Frank Hughes. If they beat them by 20 then they are the same team from November and December, if they beat them by 30 or 35, then maybe this team has a chance come tourney time.
