  1. Tennessee High School Softball Coaches; It’s that time of year again to sign up for the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association (TSCA). We had over 100 schools from across the state last year as members and this year looks to be bigger and better. This year we are going to try and get a representative from each region and get them to reach out to their region and districts to have a better representation of each division of the state and each classification. This year we are going to offer an insurance policy to go along with all of the other benefits you get as a member of the TSCA. Here are some of the benefits this insurance policy will be able to provide our membership this year. It will cover coaches with up to a one million dollar liability policy for anything except, sexual abuse or verbal abuse. It also pays for our tournaments, All Star Game as well as the KY-TN game this coming year. We think it is a great benefit to the coaches as well as to the association for our events. Your membership is only $40.00 per school! Each Coach that is a member of the TSCA will receive a card showing membership, from the insurance company. It will not go into effect until the first of October. Remember, we will still have the benefits as in the past where as members you are able to select your players for the All Star Game, All State, All Academic, Ky/Tn All Star Game, and Scholarships. You will also be able to help select from your peers members to the TSCA Hall of Fame, and Coach and Coaching Staff of the year. We also would like to invite you to sign up for the TSCA Classic which helps provide scholarships for the girls whose coaches are members of the TSCA. Go to the website below to sign up as a member of the TSCA and sign up for the TSCA Classic. www.tnsca.com Thanks for all you do for softball, Phil Burkhart and John Conditt Co-Executive Directors of the TSCA

  10. This is a early count of WHO IS COMING for sure. I know a bunch more that said that they were coming but until I get the official word I do not want to post it, that is what so many travel exposure tournaments do they count the invitations not official representatives. These parents think that all of these colleges will be there when they don't. We not doing that! I have know doubt that we will be over 33-35 coaches when we have the camp. We already have 67 players sign up the first week, plus two colleges from KY. We also have the following players from KY who have signed up. Not a bad first week! Colbert County Glasgow Green County Apollo Greenwood Christian County

  13. Travel Coaches and Parents This is an open letter to Travel Coaches, Parents and Players. The Tennessee Softball Coaches Association (TSCA) invites you to attend our Softball EXPOSURE Camp scheduled on Tuesday October 7th at Triple Creek Ball Park in Gallatin, TN. Why should you consider attending our exposure CAMP? Tournaments do provide a good opportunity for softball players to enhance their skills and some athletes are recruited during these events. However, we believe the TSCA exposure camp will provide each softball athlete with a better opportunity to showcase their BEST skills in front of College Coaches. Also, We will list the coaches and schools who will be there! Not invited but who have made the commitment to come. When you go to Exposure Tournament you are hoping that the coach will see you hit, field or pitch while they are watching you play. Depending upon the game, your player may not be seen at her best. This summer our family attended and we participated in an Exposure Tournament. There were 650 players attending. We were told 30 college coaches "planned" to attend. We saw eight. However, if all 30 college coaches had attended it would be impossible for each coach to have time to evaluate each player's strengths during the games, because the "showcase" depends upon the plays which occur during the games! It is very unlikely each player's best attributes were showcased to each coach. Often during tournaments coaches may not get to see the players perform in all areas. For example: My daughter is a slapper. Lets say during a game she gets walked at her first time at bat. Next batter makes the 3rd out and she doesn't get to steal or run. What did the coach really get to see my daughter do during that inning? Not a lot, and this is the consistent complaint we hear from college coaches. We want the college coach to see your daughter perform in all areas. Our EXPOSURE CAMP will allow your daughter to be seen at her best! We limit the number of athletes attending to provide the best opportunities for each player. The first half of the day we have the athletes perform in hitting, fielding, throwing and timed events. These events are fun and challenging. Our College Coaches LOVE this approach! They get to evaluate each girl individually. In the afternoon we play scrimmages so that the players/positions Coaches are interested in can be seen full circle. Last year we received high praises from the 28 College Coaches who attended our EXPOSURE CAMP. College coaches love our exposure camp because they get to see a well "rounded" program. We are delighted to say that over 50% of our athletes who attended last years' EXPOSURE CAMP received follow up phone calls from these college coaches who attended. This is an IMPRESSIVE percentage!!! In addition, we believe it is important the parents know which Colleges are actually attending so that parents can decided if one of those schools might be a good fit for the athletes academic and athletic goals. We want parents and players to have an opportunity to be seen by College Coaches who represent the college of preference. We sincerely believe this EXPOSURE CAMP is an excellent opportunity for softball athletes to be showcased in front of College Coaches. Please visit our website for more information. Please visit our website of listing of colleges who will be attending this will be update as we get the commitments from the colleges and universities. http://www.tnsca.com/ Thanks

  24. Great Job on a thankless job. We have our TSCA All Star Softball game this coming Monday and we took all kinds of flack over our All Star teams. You cannot please everyone and you have to do the best you can do with the nominees you get. It is a hard job and people don't know the many hundreds of man hours put into this by the directors and coaches that do this for the kids. Hat's off to you for the work you do, the kids appreciate it and so do many others. You usually only hear from the ones who complain, so I wanted to make sure you know there are many more that appreciate what you do. Thank you. TSCA
  25. No matter who was on the All Star teams, Miss Softball, or All State people would be unhappy, I am sorry that we are not like rec ball and give every girl a trophy because they put on a uniform and sounds like your daughter is one of them. Even when Christ was on earth people criticize him, so I guess we are in good company because you are always going to have those kind of people who are looking only out for their best interest. Why not jump on the band wagon and praise the girls that made it instead of throwing stones?
