96.5 and Murphy Fair are reporting that the will have to forfeit thier first 5 games. That will give them 2 region losses.

Why not just mulitply their enrollment by 1.8 and be done with it.

JCS proved something tonite.

South Side gets there first real test of the year this fri. Jcs offence is going to be the best they have face. Melton ran all over SS last year. The key will be to shut him down. They are very balanced. Rayner should be double teamed. SS should dominate the line of scrimmage. I say South Side will win but it won't be a blow out.

I don't think this is a real test. JCS has not proved anything yet. SS will be a much stronger team than JCS has faced as of yet.

Seth Doyle would have contributed a lot last night. A little better coaching would have too. JCS definately should have beaten them by a lot more. USJ just isn't the team it used to be. I'm sure JCS was looking for payback from last years spray painting incident and from the smack talk in the USJ football newsletter and they got it to some degree.......

but USJ still leads the series, 18-4.

As for the AA all tourny team, how could you leave Josh Liles off of the team????? Speaking as a Covington fan and graduate, he was by far the best catcher in the field. He hit for a ridiculous avg. somewhere in the neiborhood over .500, dorve in quite a few runs, and was outstanding defensivly. Except for the few bad apples from my home town, I respect the kid for being a kid and being one heck of a ball player. He was a stud the first time I saw him play at 12, and he's still a stud going into his Senior year.

Great job! I'm from East Tennesee. Everything was close by and was organized very well. I hope it stays in the 'Boro forever. I would, however, change the Columbia State site for baseball if I could. I understand MTCS has a brand new ballpark that could host...maybe they can just move the Columbia group to MTCS next year. Other than that minor suggestion, great job TSSAA, MTSU, and the city of Murfreesboro! Awesome week!!

The Columbia State Field was in much better shape than MTSU's.

 

One of the reasons I thought they moved it from Memphis was logistics. Well the logistics for M'boro did not seem to work all that well. Being in Columbia was a far cry from M'boro. I would have liked to see more games.

If there was a state championship for people who act like they know a lot about baseball, but really know nothing, USJ posters would win that championship hands down. TOTO, I don't think were in single A any more!

I thought maybe Covington had more class, but you have proven time and time again this year that you don't. You don't even know how to be a good winner.

Congrats to Covington for winning the State AA Championship. You are a fine team. Enjoy it because looking at your roster it looks like a rebuilding period is on the horizon. USJ will be a serious threat for the next several years. I will be very surprised if the Bruins are not back in the thick of things next year.

 

The USJ Bruins had a heck of a year overcoming hurdle after hurdle and I am extremely proud of what these young men accomplished. From Single A Champions to the AA Championship Game in one year is quite an accomplishment.

 

It is my hope that some of the posters that think baseball is life and death will wake up and realize it is just a game. There needs to be less hate in this World and athletics should be a means to create joy and happiness instead of dislike and hostility. Enjoy it for what it is and phrase every young person you can regardless

of their team. Things got way out of hand on this Board a few times this year and I want to apologize to any that I offended. Instead of stones being thrown it would be nice to see more olive branches in the future and I'll be the first to extend one.

 

Good luck and goodbye as necvol is signing off for the last time on the Baseball Board! I might be back to read but my place will now be found on the Volleyball Board in support of my sweet (not little any more but) little girl.

USJ and Covington have both played their hearts out this week, and earned an opportunity to play in today's championship AA game. Both are from the same district, 14, region 7. Have two teams from the same district ever made it to the big show to face each other?

I don't know if it ever happened, but I would like to congratulate 2 outstanding teams. It speaks highly of the district that they play in.

 

Congratulations to Covington on the win. You have some great seniors that I know that you will miss.

 

As for USJ, you had a great year. No one expected you guys to make it to the State Championship. Thank you for the great leadership in Coach Dyer and the other coaches and also the Senior Class.

 

Thanks Spencer, Jimmy, Zach, Will, Sam, and Jake for a great season! I am sure the guys behind you will carry on your legacy just as you have carried on the legacy of the great teams of the USJ past!

Hwy 50 to Centerville

At Centerville take right go about 1/2 mile turn left back onto hwy 50

 

When you come in to Columbia you will turn right at sign that says Columbia State

 

When you come to red light take right and Columbia State is on left.

 

Driving time is about 1 hr 50 minutes.

I believe this game is going to be played at Blackman at 4 P.M. If this is correct could someone please give me directions to Blackman? And any other high schol games are being played at i guess haha

Nice job by the Mustangs today against Unaka!! They've definitely got their work cut out for them with Forrest though. Two different classes of baseball. Skelley should totally dominate them. I don't see Clifft holding the Rockets offense down either. Probably a very one-sided game that sends Huntingdon to the losers bracket.

I am here to report the truth. Liles should not be allowed to play because according to the TSSAA rulebook a player caught with alcohol is a 2 weeks suspension. And well Liles was out 3 days. And that is wrong. USJ hid the truth. If he would have fessed up, and taken the suspension then I would understand and be fine. I am not against Josh Liles I am against the fact that he did not take the punishment.

Where in the TSSAA rulebook does it say that? At a public school if a player was caught drinking nothing would happen to him(unless it was a school function). The coach might implement some sort of punishment.

I think he is referring to the large number of USJ athletes that actually live in and are zoned for JCM public school.

I would think most of those people that live near USJ and are zoned for JCM live there because they want to go to a neighborhood school, USJ.

LOL...JCM would compete if kids would attend their local public school.

South Side competes year in and year out.
