  1. Congrats to Lexington well deserved to come out of loser bracket and win 3 tough games. Great tournament, well I was close on my prediction. Looks like there will be alot of the same teams back next year in AA as alot were young. See ya next year
  2. Well you got me on that, I guess I should of used the correct terminology, but everyone got the point. Having said that the old Guru here is gonna eat some crow. Ashton Edwards has proven herself and in my opinion is top 5 pitcher in the State. She has dominated and beat some very good teams. Top 5 pitchers in my opinion are the girls getting it done still at this time. Ashton Edwards, Makenzie Prince, Heather Norris, Mimi Cartwright, Brooklyn Lee. Just an opinion based on what I seem them do this year and against the best teams at State!!
  3. Well my prediction of the next state champ could possibly happen at 2:30 today, but let me say this, all the teams were very evenly matched this year. No dominant team, anyone could of done it, but I went with the team that has been in this situation before. I do know that the morning game is going to be a war, and there is no love loss between Chester Co and Lexington. I just hope the parents don't ruin this experience for the girls. To be one of the three teams left in the State is a huge accomplishment for any team. What an exciting season I hate to see it end, but I am sure I will see most of these girls this summer playing ball to get better.
  4. Well I am shocked by Greenbrier they hit a slump at the wrong time, but I know some people over there and they will be back and more talented next year. Now can Goodpasture get it done? They have played well this tourney not giving up the big plays and playing mostly error free ball. The fact they have been here before and beat unicoi and lexington gives them the upper hand now. I thought Gibbs would be the ones they would have to play and possibly put them in the losers bracket, but looks like Chester Co had something to say about that. So my prediction is still a team from 9AA for state champs!
  5. Alot of great games this first day should be an interesting tourney. Still have to stick to my prediction of Greenbrier or Goodpasture. I think Greenbrier had the jitters and tried to get rolling a little too late against Gibbs, and Cartwright wasn't her normal self on the mound against Lexington. Unicoi and Goodpasture winner will have the advantage I believe to get to the championship game, but then you have Gibbs who has been there done that. Going to be a great tourney!
  6. If Gibbs beats Greenbrier easily I will say they will be the favorite. Gibbs has been down this road a few times, but do they have the pitcher to get it done this year??
  7. Gibbs is good but, but they lost a very dominant pitcher from last season. Anything can happen but the odds are stacked against them.
  8. Who wins it all?? I still believe the winner will be either Goodpasture or Greenbrier they have the strongest pitching and hitting out of the teams in the tourney. This is just a prediction good luck to all the AA teams that made the State championship tourney!
  9. Greenbrier is loaded with talent and they have a pitcher that can help them keep games low scoring which boads well for them because they have the hitting. Not sure why Goodpasture didn't pitch Cartwright but if I was a betting man it was prob because they will face them again later next week if they both take care of business monday night. I said at the beggining of the year one of these two teams should be the next AA State Champ!!
  10. I still believe the Winner or Runner up in District 9AA wins state in AA. Just my opinion but They seem to have the best teams I have watched play. It will be tough because you have to get passed Camden Central
  11. I am sure Goodpasture will show you which school the losers are.....
  12. Okay I have kept up with this thread and I think the fake slimshady should please shut up!!! You obviously don't know what your saying. Goodpasture Softball for as long as I can remember plays more AAA schools than AA and I am sure they will do the same when they play in single A so your point about GP wanting to beat up on teams is just ignorance on your part. Goodpasture softball is a historically great program but I have seen them play alot this year and they don't have all state players at every position. I would even venture to say three of the starting players wouldn't start on other public programs. I just think it shows players its okay to run from adversity instead of playing GP in whatever your school offers. Who cares what division or what school it is. You teach your athletes nothing by not playing except for to quit when the going gets tough!!! Play everyone in your district and if you win great if you lose so be it. What does it prove by not playing??
  13. It's been a blessing watching this young lady over the last few years, I am sure the Goodpasture program is going to miss her leadership. Her family has been around it seems like forever and it's sad that they won't be in the highschool ranks next season. Congrats to the Cartwright family on such a great and memoriable run. They have been apart of alot of wins and State Championships. You will be missed. Now the next question is who takes the reigns next year for such a dominant program?? I hear rumors of transfers but nothing set in stone. With a team who only loses 1 senior you know someone out there wants to put their daughter on the mound with such a great supporting cast. Stay tuned I wonder who is next in line???
  14. Think Goodpasture handled them pretty easily earlier this year, don't know if they have top to bottom what it takes.
  15. No doubt on this one, Dictrict 9AA is up for grabs and I would say the winner of that district will prob be the next AA state champ. Greenbrier is a very solid team and dont really have a weak spot in the batting lineup, but the big game experience may be the down fall when they get into region play. I also heard Sycamore beat Goodpasture last night 2-0. I guess that private school is not invincible after all, but I bet they woke a sleeping giant and Goodpasture won't let down again for a while.
  16. Okay this is my AA picks for State Tourney Unicoi, Gibbs, Chatt Central, Upperman, Goodpasture, Camden Central,Lexington and Dyersburg. There are gonna be some really good games in the sectionals but gonna have to go with the experience of playing in big games.
  17. I agree that CA vs Richland should be a hard fought battle and whoever comes out on top will be in the Boro
  18. It's that time of year again, and everyone knows who leads districts and the teams to beat. This is usually my favorite topic because you get alot of good opinions on why teams will get there and why they wont. This should be a interesting topic for sure. Let's Go.....
  19. Well some of the picks are probably biased, but some are very good pitchers as well. Alot of pitchers pitch great games against not so good opponents, but its the one's who shine when they are playing teams that win constantly and put up big strike out numbers and give up less hits against very good hitting teams. Look at some of these teams stats as far as points scored and when you have a team averaging over 10 points and a pitcher shuts them down thats a good sign she is for real. I do agree some of the picks are a little biased.....
  20. Which pitchers do you speak of and what stats are you talking about??
  21. Anyone know anything about the Covington pitcher I hear she is very talented but I have yet to see her play?
  22. I had the privilege to watch this young lady pitch twice and WOW!!! She is a baller. She is easily one of the best in the state, if not the best at this point. Congrats to her and Smyrna!!
  23. Good luck to you and Ashton and as for me I don't have a dog in the fight my daughter graduated a few years back. I just try and keep up with highschool softball and I might even be recruiting some of your players one day you never know!!!! Sorry if I caused the ADD to kick in but to say Cartwright isn't one of the best is a little far fetched, and needed to be addressed by a non biased person!!!!
  24. Okay Gibbs is your claim to fame this year thats great! Historically good program, but what if I was to tell you that there pitcher last year was a senior and prob one of the best if not the best in the state. Easily a top 5 along with MiMi Cartwright who went head to head. In that AA game Gibbs had the better all around team not to mention Goodpasture fielded I believe only 11 players, yet the still were in the Championship game, see a pattern here??? You put your pitcher out there as one of the best in the state, and she is very talented hard to beat her speed, but location location location is what in my opinion separates her from others. Lets talk about this topic its not about getting to State as you proclaim in your last post but BEST PITCHERS, and you opened this can of worms by stating Cartwright wasn't in your opinion one of the best, yet she pitches a no hitter against a team that has solid batters from top too bottom. They don't have a weak spot like most teams do after the top five batters. It's very impressive and ranks up there with one of the best performances I have seen. Another thing, tell me about these D1 pitchers you speak of???? Who are they and what makes them the best??? Is Ashton one of these D1 pitchers because you say she is one of the best?? Let's not cast judgement by saying Cartwright isn't one of the best because up unto this point she has proved herself not only this season but by getting to the State Championship her junior season. I say this Goodpasture team surprised me this season thought it was going to be a rough one for them, but because they have a pitcher who can control a game and coaches who know how to win when its on the line(reference back to your tie game with them) that makes the difference. I am sure Cartwright don't need your approval but anyone who knows softball knows that girl can bring it. I would even venture to say the Riverdale faithful would put her as one of the best in the state!!!
  25. Okay I have been following your post and now I'm gonna have to call you out. You posted about your Ashton Edwards as one of the top five in the state or best pitchers, but yet you say Cartwright isn't ??? According to a Riverdale parent they haven't had a no hitter pitched against them in like 70 games or longer. Also I watched your pitcher pitch to 9 batters only and then come out against Goodpasture why would that be didn't wanna hurt those great stats you say she has?? By the way Cartwright finished and Goodpasture beat you. For anyone to pitch a no hitter against Riverdale is a real accomplishment. Now about those base runners I hear thru the grapevine the strikezone was very small for both teams and a passed ball have up the run. Please let me know when your pitcher goes up against a all state program and pitches a no hitter, and stop being so biased makes ya sound kinda cheesy!!
