  1. Parents and Fans. I understand that you are all die hard fans and cheer for your team. It absolutely blows my mind that any person on here would ever call a player out saying they aren't that good. And several times using their name when you do that. They are still kids. They dont get payed!! Im sure they read these threads. Just keep that in mind when you call a player out. Absolutely ridiculous in my humble opinion.

  2. I would not call MLK the superior team. Good, yes they were. Superior to Central, no. Also I wouldn't say Central over achieved this year. This was a very talented Central squad. They were not 100% due to injuries but still very good imo. Congrats to the Chargerettes.

  3. Agreed. HH was a very long, quick, and talented team. MC played them close as well as Bradley. It can only help both teams as they move on in their seasons. I dont believe there will be much of a contest when HH plays Central Park. HH very impressive. MC got down early. Missed tons of free throws. Missed many lay ups. But I take nothing away from HH. Very talented. I didnt get to see the HH - Bradley game.

  4. Far from obnoxious. Many posts on here way worse than what Ive said. And I respect Tim and his girls very much. I just dont think they have enough in the tank to contend with what I would call one of Centrals best teams in the last few years. And thanks Blitzinbuc. Didnt think I said anything out of line.

  5. Its no secret that kids like to play for winning programs and Central has for sure won their fare share of championships. Coach Morgan is a good coach and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and his program.

What I get a kick out of is the card the Central people always play in all sports. Well McMinn is so much bigger and they should win. That argument doesn't hold water with me. Bottom line is that in basketball especially girls Central has had better talent. Until McMinn gets its program back to the days of when Tucker was there they will continue to struggle against the good teams like Central. In my opinion McMinn is on track with the current freshman group and the girls playing at the elementary schools that feed McMinn.

Another interesting point is if the school board implements the zoning rule they have discussed it would force the kids to play for the school they are zoned for. There would be no more going to EK Baker or ACMS and going to Central.

  6. I don't even think a split would do anything to girls bball. You will still have your Clarkranges, Jackson Co, Union City, Livingston Academy, McMinn Central, etc going to the glass house every year. No issues with private schools in this sport. :popcorneater:

I have no idea about the others but to throw McMinn Central into the mix is a joke. First, there is no zoning in McMinn County. If I was a parent and I felt like the best chance for my daughter to be successful was at MC, that's where she would go. Any parent who says any different is not telling the truth! Secondly, I believe there were 2 girls on Centrals roster that were not from McMinn County this year. One came aboard as a junior and never played high school basketball her freshman or sophomore year. The other ones drive is fairly close to the same to either school. Maybe her parents thought that the best place to go for her well being was MC, just any other parent would do. The feeder system is what keeps these girls together. They play together for years before high school. Don't blame the school!
  7. Well unfortunately you didn't watch the same game I did. And what do you mean we played 4 on 5? That's ridiculous I don't think anyone that was there would deny that our girls were a little flat the first half and Grace played with a lot more intensity than games past. Its a shame that a team loses 3 games and some idiot blames the coach. Their is a lot of teams that would have loved to just have lost 3 GAMES. And if you have a problem with COACHING find another team to watch. IMO if you sign up to play for any coach you play for that coach regardless what happens. Its easy to coach from the stands--we all do it-- but do it to yourself. Grace had a good night and we didn't that's the short of it but to blame it on one kid is ridiculous. REMEMBER ITS A TEAM SPORT. And anyone that was there also realizes that what the coach was dealing with while the game was going on was enough to distract anyone.

Great post. As you mentioned Meigs came out flat. Obviously as a coach, you can't teach heart and determination. That is something that comes from within. And all players and teams have to deal with it. Sometimes you can play through it and sometimes you cannot. Meigs could not overcome this problem in this game. And playing flat is contagious. That's when all the girls have to come together, look at themselves as a team, and make sure it doesn't happen again.
  8. Take nothing away from Grace they had a good game plan and played hard deserved the win but Meigs biggest weakness showed itself COACHING. Why no zone when Grace scoring 90% in the paint. why pull scorer last half to replace with someone Grace did not even guard due to lack of scoring ability. Not meaning any disrespect for her great hustle and good defender but this allowed Grace to clog the middle basically we played 4 on 5 on offense. Hopefully he wakes up girls deserve better.

Might be the first post I've ever seen on here that is knocking JP. Maybe you just stated the answer as to why the other girl came in! Hustle and defense. JP has done some great things at Meigs and could probably go elsewhere if he chose to. I would definitely not be criticizing his coaching if I were a Meigs fan. He does a great job!

Briana Bryant is a fantastic player. Unfortunately she was injured last year. If she had been healthy she may have been the difference in the state championship. Don't forget Hietzman and Nailer as well. Both are very deserving of a look as well.

Totally agree. All are very good players!
  10. If the Hooper girl don't play and CAK looses in the Region, that going to knock all the girls out of playing time.

I know the whole group, all of those girls want to win it all. They want to play with their best chance of winning. This is no different than all the football players coming over to basketball after their season is over.

Please just shut up and let them play .

Glad you know them ALL so well. Go ask the the ones who have worked for the past 9 months and are going to lose playing time because of this. But like you said, their all ok with it. Doubtful!
  11. I hope CAK makes it to Murfreesboro... I want to see this team. I haven't seen Hannamaker or Hooper play, only heard about them.

GC. Just take a look at B.B. for CAK! Always seems to be left out. But very well may be their best player. IMO.
  12. Didn't the Hooper girl put in three years of hard work? If a girl is injured and hadn't contributed to the team but was cleared to play at playoff time, should she not be allowed to be a part of the team? Hooper was as much of the team as an injured girl was because she never quit the team. I talked today to someone who has a daughter playing at CAK and they said their daughter and her teammates are thrilled to have Hooper back.

Three years of basketball as a high schooler at CAK? No. I believe as a high schooler she put in one year at CAK on the court. That was last year. As we already know she has not played this year and her freshman year was spent with her teammate in WV. Now has she worked hard for three years? I'm sure she has considering she has earned a D1 scholarship in vball. This has nothing to do with her. I would want to play to if I were in her shoes. It has to do with the program. And now you are bringing up an injured player to be equivalent. Again, not the same. An injured girl does not have the choice to practice or play. This player did but chose not to. She chose to dedicate her time to Vball. It was her choice but she did have a choice. An injured player does not. And the someone you talked to today has a daughter that is a starter and wont lose any court time. I guarantee they all do not share the same feelings. Especially the ones that it will directly affect.
  13. What about the freshmen girls at McMinn Central who came in and took a starting spot or got more playing time than Juniors and Seniors who have been there for 2-3 years, which is a lot longer than since June? Was that fair?

I believe all those girls including freshman, soph, juniors, and seniors have worked hard since June, unless they were injured. This situation is totally different. And I don't make the line-up.
  14. It really does not matter whether the player is 5'8" or 6'6". If this player comes in and takes playing time away from others who have worked hard to better themselves on the court since June, which will happen, it is very unethical. No its not illegal but its wrong. It is also extremely unfair to the ones who will suffer. And for an administration to allow this to happen is wrong as well. Many posts on here stating that most programs would do the same thing. Doubtful. Sure there will always be a few. But most programs would never do this. It just sends the wrong message to these young athletes IMO.

  15. Where did I say that you said it wasn't a big deal that three girls had quit? Does JM ever say he didn't have his team prepared or that he was outcoached? I've heard several coaches say that. I hope next year is a special one for the girls, but I'm skeptical.

You may not have. So my mistake. But I am in agreement that it is a huge deal. And you are right, their are coaches who say that. Has JM ever? Probably not. We agree about many things. I wasn't defending an individual. I was simply saying that most coaches use excuses. Your skepticism I would assume is caused by your worries over the coaching situation and not over talent. I again agree. You just don't replace a JY. That would be a tough role for anyone to fill!
  16. Anyone can make general comments that others are wrong or misleading. If you can't say where I was wrong then it's just your opinion. I back up what I say and you should too. It's not a big deal if one girl quits but when you have three upperclassmen quit after the season starts it is a big deal. Two girls that quit were Juniors and the other one was a Senior. Two of them had started games before they quit. Something is wrong. You heard an excuse from the head coach after they lost to Meigs. He's the misleading one. I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch. There could be as many injuries and internal problems as there are this year. I'm a fan of the teams. Disagreeing with the head coach doesn't make me any less of a fan.

To start with, did I ever say it was not a big deal this team has had three players quit? No I did not. Because I agree that it is a huge deal and something to be very concerned about. Secondly, my point about the so called excuse is this. Most if not all coaches give a reason as to why their team lost the game and rarely is it stated that the other team was just better than us. Normally, it's things like " well we just were not ready to play," or "were dealing with some injuries," or "we just got out hustled," or "we're just not in good shape," etc. etc. etc. These are all excuses that are used by every coach in the world. It's just not a practice used by JM. Fact is, MC played without two very good players. Would they have won? No one will ever know. And I congratulate Meigs coming in and doing what they had to do to win the game. And they played far from their best game as well. And counting my chickens before they hatch is funny considering that I stated if things fall into place next year could be a special one. That's a fact!
