  1. And batman i want you to tell me why couldnt D-B be on the same level as maryville yr after yr?Is the talent over in blount county that much better than Sullivan County and the City of Kingsport? Its like everyone around here puts maryville up on a PEDESTAL.There good and one of if not the best in the state. But what ive seen is teams actted like the game is over before it gets played.JUST SAYIN,And just wantin to see what you're reply is to what i ask you!

  2. I don't know how many teams in the state will ever get on a year to year level with Maryville, and that's where the road will go every year to reach the final four. DB has been right on the door step a few times and had a couple of real good chances under coach Clark before Maryville came into 6A.Is that good enough for everyone or even the coaching staff ? No...All they can do is what most of state's schools do,keep working and hope everything falls into place at the right time.

And that means getting more kids in the game,Having more depth and that would give alot of the starters some rest and give them more of a push going into the playoffs.
  3. I remember one spring practice there were about 140 kids that wanted to play. They had the " spring drills " in january. That's when you really find out who wants to play.I'd love to see every kid that goes out get a chance to shine on friday nights too. It's a fine line between getting your team ready with depth and rewarding everyone that has worked hard.Too much one way or the other can bite you. It's a hard thing as a parent to see your kid sitting on the bench if it's because he is young " or " really good and the game is out of reach. We all want to see junior playing and that always makes it personal for the close friends and family members. On the 2000 students.DB still needs to get all of the very best athletes out for football from that amount of kids

All im sayin until D-B starts to get on the level of some of the teams around knoxville and past its goin to have a long time before theyll even get a smell of the gold ball.
  4. In reply to the previous 2 comments: 1. I'm not with Elizabethton; I really have no dog in the race; just stating an objective opinion. 2. To say North lost a lot is an extreme understatement. They lost what, 19 or 21 seniors? Most of all were key contributors. 3 of them being their most explosive offensive players, and yes I know the Tight End was kicked off early. Also, Kiree's younger brother is no longer playing for North.

Please save the comment though, but don't magically forget it when it comes true.

Trust me i want,If they smash them ill be the first one to say i was wrong.WILL YOU?

Then if you're not with betsy then why are you hollaing from the mountian top then?..Im not fans of ethier south or north,But i RESPECT both schools and there programs. And im just sayin to the other 3 rivers schools to keep a watch out for them KINGSPORT side of sullivan county schools.Cause like a wise man said before.DONT STAND ON THE TRACKS WHEN THE TRAIN IS RUNNING THOUGH!!..And im not taking nothing away from besty,Ive got RESPECT for them as well.Just sayin watch out for those two schools.
  6. I'll have to say this on coach Clark and his staff and being fair. One of coach Clarks own relatives didn't get much playing time a few years ago.He had to put in the time just like most kids before his number was called.I would think that if " who you know" or "who you are" had much to do with it,coaches own close kin would be playing from day one.I never talked to coach Clark a whole lot other then " small talk " when my first Indian was coming up.I'm nobody special and just work shift work like thousands of local guys.My kid earned the right to play by working hard on the field and in the weightroom. His strength was the reason he ended up at defensive end. He done whatever they needed to help the team, just like so many players have in the past .If a kid works hard and has a good attitude at DB "and can play the game",his time will come, unless the team is just loaded several deep at every position.

I agree with you,And what i was meaning was HIGH SCHOOL BALL on the whole.Im nobody to be 2nd guessing coach clark. His record has proved that.Im just sayin if the young men put in the time to practice in the heat of summer and football season and work out then they should have a chance to play. All im tryin to say is,A school that has almost 2000 kids going there should not be having guys playin both ways unless there one of the few gifted players that are D1 or D2 type kids,Thats when i understand the 2 way deal. But thats just my thoughts on it.Agree or Not.
  7. On DB's calendar it says the jamboree is August 15th @ Science Hill. I'm not sure how it will work this with 7 teams instead 8, unless South or some other team outside the conference opts to attend.

I didnt think it would be on there. Thanks,Now if i could get the info on the Maryville one on AUG the 2nd.I dont know if its at DB or Maryville and the time.
  8. Keep hoping. Won't be happening this year. Elizabethton will smash them both.

Ill have to make a note of this post and holla at you after yall play.Ill give south credit and say they will be prepared and will give there all.I highly doubt it will be a smashing with them or north.
  9. Maryville does have a couple who play both ways, just not every down. You have to have your athletes on the field to make plays. Period!!!

I understand that,But going into halftime up by 30 or so was the time the back ups get there reps and playing time.Thats when you find those GEMS that have something when there put in the lights.I understand now how football works now a days,Its has to do with who you know or who your parents are.And it was like that alittle when i played but its gettin worse.I feel if the young men put in the days and hours of hard work they they should be rewarded for it.And ive seen were some guys have opened up when they had the chance. You can disagree with me or agree,But i firmly believe that what ive posted here is 100% true. This is HIGH SCHOOL not college or the pros.Playing more guys can only help D-B in the present and the furture.
  10. Well Clark shows a lot of loyalty to his upper class men. And I'm glad because it was all that playing time that put a couple players in orange for the next few years. Have to respect that. He knows what he's doing. Although I would feel better knowing what were going to have this year. Lol. ROLL TRIBE!!!!

Im not sayin he dont know what he's doing and i can respect the whole upperclassmen deal,But the thing is and if you ask a few kids they dont get much playin time thats why they dont want to play.My thing is that there shouldnt be any 2 way guys playing in 6A ball.Unless you have that stand out kid like Foreman and Swafford last yr.And i not tryin to sould like im an expert on football but until they start gettin more guys playing time we want ever see a GOLD BALL.Look at the Teams that dont have alot of 2 way players.Maryville for one.I just cant see Maryville or blount county have all that much more talent the we do down this way.

Notice Murvil and Harden Valley are gone, paper said Mullins said conflicting open dates were the reason. Mike said they tried a bunch of folks including DB, Science Hill and Bearden. Sounds like the old days when nobody wanted to play us, not the reason now I'm sure.

Wish we would have added yall.
