our booster club was responsible for concessions and each parent was given an option. work 2 games (baseball) or pay $20 which went to students who wanted to work. worked out really well. some worked some payed and no one could complain because money went back to players anyhow.

Just wondering if other schools have the problem of getting people to join the booster clubs, and the even bigger problem of getting people to do anything to help out (fundraisers, concession stands, etc). Who interviewed on Friday?

i think i have some information that is pretty reliable. they are very close to naming a coach and many will be shocked at what is going to hapen.. i t has been quiet for a reason. from what i have heard they will have a hire by thursday or friday and it sounds like a good one. as far as coach austin is concerned i have a friend who talked with the principal about the possibility of coach austin and he was impressed with coach austin however he has only met with him one time. my friend said that the principal (s. bean) would at some time make a comment on the entire situation to stratghten up all the rumors that have been floating around about this job. should be very interesting. we have heard before that an annoucement was comming. hopefully this time it is true.

With 3 of the 10 or so that where nterviewed down, Who will be the next in line? Do they already have the next contestant in mind? They went form naming someone by christmas to maybe having it done by spring break. WHOS NEXT????

What's the rush? several schools are looking for coaches. I only hope they dont try to name someone just to please the people. I have heard that they have some good candidates but none with much experience. On the A level i think that that is what you will get. Not many coaches leave Head Coaching positions to go to a single A program. The Flatt thing will hurt some but i think it will all work out. I have heard some former head coaches might be possible, but personally i think a young coach with enthusiasm would be just what is needed. Are they still planning to build a new facility and will Jack be helpful in that? Their whole athletic facilities are way behind times for most A schools in this area.

Yes Mac ran the Wing -T at Marshal County. There is Wing-t Basic and Wing-t with some juice such as how Riverdale runs it. It can be very difficult to stop if you have the players for the system.

I dont think M C has the same juice as Riverdale. totally different athletes. What type players do you need?

The wing-t is not an issue among fans. That was Mac's style.

All the pop warner teams run it and most of the county think the wing-t is the only offense there is. I think that is why many coaches would not apply to coach in Moore County. Mac does"t even run it any more. I dont think he even did it at Marshall C.

O.K. DearOldDad, I don't know anyone that knows him, so tell me what has he done. Has he been a head coach anywhere other than HC. If so where? I heard that he had been at Hickman for two years as head coach, but he's not on the TSSAA site as a coach there at all. If he's been there 2 years then he's 7-13 for those two years. Two of those wins were against Shelbyville (0-10) (1-9) for the two years, one was Lawrence County (2-8) that year, and one was against Statford (2-8) that year, two were against Waverly (7-4) and (5-6), the other was Lewis County ((7-4). That's two wins in two years against teams with a winning record. I know that win/loss records don't show everything that's going on behind the scenes, but I was just saying that on the surface, he don't look a lot better that what MC had. I know the people at MC well enough to know that they worry as much about wins and losses as any fans anywhere. If he can't produce wins in two years there, they will be after his job.

I think there are still others who have a shot at that job. Has it been offered to Swenson.? I agree that you never can judge a young coach by his first job. I dont think hickman co. is exactly a great place to make a good start. After Flatt, who would look good. Can anyone from Hickman let us know more about him?

anyone know the details of the AAA lincoln county vs the A moore county...hope the blue raiders pulled off the upset?

upset?????????? Moore Co. was by far the better team. Ive seen them play 2 times now and they may be a contender.

You can have the best talent on earth, but if the Coach doesn't know what he is doing, the team will NOT succeed. You apparently have not been around sports very long if you do not believe this to be true. I have no dog in this fight, but I can assure you a great, talented, team will go absolutely nowhere without good coaches! He wasn't making a comparison with the great Coaches you listed, he was only using that to illustrate his point.

cascade11. i played college ball 25 yrs ago and was a head coach in high school. no i havent been around sports very long. how long have you been around sports. i repeat any coach will tell you they can only go as far as their players take them.

bb4evr, you are so full of bull, Mac is what build Moore County up. A good coach makes great players, great players do not make great coaches. That should be very clear since 1999 at Moore County. I guess you think The Bear did not make Alabama what it is, Vince Lombardi did not make Green Bay.

comparing mac to the bear and lombardi> are you kidding. ANY coach in the country will tell you that great players DO make great coaches and terrible players make coahes terrible. even the great bear had some pretty good player. namath, sloan, todd, the list goes on and on. give me 3 great players and one good coach.

next time you talk to a great coach ask him why he was a winner. ask mac, he would tell you the same thing.

Well like everyone else I am in shock! It's true, the job is Coach Flatts to walk away from. They way I hear it the community really got behind the idea at the meeting. People and business owners are going help get what is needed to build Moore County back up. Coach Mccurry should get some credit though on this, he built Lynchburg to make it where great coaches want to come and be part of it. The burg went through a hard time but many good coaches are seeing the endless possibilty that awaits and their knocking on the door.

 

People may say Lynchburg is down on talent and the people are hard on coaches but if it was true 32 applications wouldn't have been turned in with many being current head coaches leading winning programs. If it works out great, if not their are some good coaches still waiting in line. Coach Flatt is sitting on a goldmine if he takes the job and if he gets the right assistants with him.

Mac had NOTHING to do with this. The day Moore Co. forgets about him the better. We need to move on. sure he won some games but he hit a strech of talent and out of county kids also. This is a team effort led by the community. Mac would not have been and success if not for the community in the first place.

I'll tell you this, money was not the issue with Flatt. He is ok with that part. Facilities and assistants is the issue that might keep Coach Flatt away. If Moore County can update the facilities and get Flatt 2 asssistants that he wants, it might be a deal.

This is all true. Meeting tonight at MCHS. booster club may be the lead group. Still, the odds are maybe 50% that it can get done> I think it says alot for bean and moorehead that they could even get this far. i would love to hear a statement from Flatt.

Does he read CoachT?

I don't know that part. I know that there no postions open for an assisntant yet. All the old staff is still holding teaching postions. I am guessing that will be an issue for any coach who is interviewing for the job.

i dont think any one believes this story to be true. i guess time will tell. to bad school is out. we may not hear much for a week or more. some one said they heard all this from the a d. is that true?

I will be honest I did meet with Coach Flatt, he wants me to be his d coordinator. I told him I would think about it. I think if I agree to it he will take the job. I will let you know what I decide.

yes, they are short of kids from franklin county. they cant win at anything with out them.

Was Chris White contacted? He coaches at Riverdale and lives in Lynchburg. Would be a great choice. He is young and obviously has experience winning.
