I looked at stats for all three SG games and we shot more free throws in each game. Must have been a conspiracy for SG to win. Nothing to do with our play. 

Again watch the film.

1. It was really close at the buzzer. I'll agree it was a tough one.

2. #40 shoved off on the rebound before the shot. The play by play man even said so.

3. The technical was because she tripped the SG girl after being fouled.  

4. The out of bounds play was right in front of our side and was the correct call. Watched it again. The SG girl got stripped then reached for the ball as it went out of bounds. The ref on the baseline thought she touched it on the reach but the other ref could see that she did not.

I will add that Lamb scored on a nice post step through move that was called a walk in the 4th. Never moved her pivot foot.

Watch the film. When 40 got it down low we let her go. Lamb knew she could not afford to get into foul trouble.

Actually I watched it on the TSSAA website. After the 3 we had a fast break with Lamb getting ready to try a layup when she was knocked into the padding on the goal. She made both making it a three point game. The remaining three fouls were intentional after steals or missed shots. It was a great game and Community has a great team, just please don't try to dismiss what SG accomplished by blaming the refs.

The last 8 free throws were intentional fouls by Community trying to stop the clock or trying to prevent an easy layup. The foul count was 23-15 and again the last 4 on Community were to stop the clock or prevent a layup. The free throw disparity was mostly due to the fact that they were fouling at the end and also fouling Lamb when she was shooting. Community shot 17 threes to SG's 6. Can't just look at stats. Also, Pierce's 5th foul was unfortunate but it was a foul.

Please don't start with the refs stuff. Community rode our point guard the whole game and not one foul called. Plenty of calls went Community's way on drives to the goal with touch fouls being called.

I'm not going to say SG is better than MC because I have not seen MC. However, MC does not have a win over anyone else on that list and SG beat GP twice. So I don't think it's that cut and dry that MC is better.

Unaka boys beat South Greene tonight and shot 42 free throws to SG's 14. Same ref called the 5th foul on 3 or 4 different SG players. Unaka out hustled SG but that free throw differential is hard to overcome. Don't mean to sound like sour grapes just making a point.

University High just beat Hampton on a last second 3.

36-34 NG final. Made a 10 footer with 5 seconds left.

29-27 Hampton after 3.

NG and Hampton tied 23-23 at the half.

Why does the Coacht scoreboard say that Community lost to Huntland. Is there another Community?

SG feels privileged that the TSSAA allows them to play in the same gym with 7A. Even though SG has the most trips to state of any high school in the state with 4 gold balls and 3 silver balls in AA. Haven't had as much success recently but in their last 3 trips they lost to the eventual champ in the semifinals. Once again thanks for allowing us to participate.

I am an SG fan and they could lose to a couple of teams in their conference and for sure could lose to anyone in the Top 10 on a given night. That being said if they play well they will be tough to beat. I'm sure the same could be said for anyone in the Top 20 or so. In other words SG is not invincible as I'm sure no one else is as well.

Just wanted to clear up my post. SG lost 3 girls to graduation from last year's team. Their best win so far was an 84-64 win over Sullivan East. I think East had some girls missing due to injury though. 

SG lost 3 Seniors and is very young. Zero Seniors and one Junior. Start a Freshman, 3 Sophs and the one Junior. Lots of speed but not much height.

Sorry, I also wanted to add that I think Hampton has a great team as well and I have a lot of respect for them. Looking forward to maybe another battle with them this year and in the years to come.

You mean like the 2 questionable fouls on Lamb of SG in the first 2 minutes of the game? Or the technical on the SG girl in the 4th because she "looked like" she was going to throw a punch? That was the ref's explanation. The calling was terrible but it was both ways.

I know there is not much discussion about single A on this board, but I wanted to ask a question. Is it odd that the 2 teams that played for the championship last year are playing their first match against each other this year? I doubt that would happen with Siegel and Brentwood.

I don't pull for privates either, but I was just making the point that Grace will be challenged. My girls go to a public school and I agree that privates should play in their own division. We lost the A championship last year to a private school.

Don't know about AA or AAA but Concord Christian beat Grace Christian twice this year.
