  1. Got to see this one. My first time watching this game on the McCallie campus. It wasn't nearly as exciting as the atmosphere on the Baylor campus imho. Of course McCallie dominating right off the bat took the excitement out of the air. I think McCallie exposed Baylor's glaring weakness which is their ability to stop the pass or runs outside. Baylor made some adjustments to get more athletic kids on the perimeter but it was too late. Baylor also isn't nearly as strong at the line backing core as they have been in the past. While I think Baylor is much better than they played they are not as good has they have been in the past. Too many weaknesses that can be exploited. McCallies line played much better than I thought they would and their Qb is the real deal.

  2. It was a good scrimmage. A lot of work to be done on the Bears offense tho. Major work. Defense, Soddy was the only one scored on them. Defense looks promising some. Offense.. It's the OL once again that's gonna kill us. The Gallatin transfer Cash, is a beast. Looking forward to seeing him the next 2 seasons. Cole shined. Running game hurt somewhat.

Soddy looked good throwing. Their defense needs work. I don't see any reason that Rhea couldn't beat Baylor this year.

Watched my nephews Soddy Team scrimmage Baylor this past Friday. Baylor pretty much had their way with them. Looked like they were subbing players on the second series. Unless Rhea is returning a lot of talent I don't think they beat Baylor. Didn't Baylor beat them pretty handily last year without a lot of their starters? Soddy is still rebuilding but looks to have some talent especially in the youngers classes.

  3. Simple it is...no chance that it works. Suppose that an "issue" arises like Bowers' ejection, suspension and appeal reversal...do you think an unbiased ruling would happen? If it actually was unbiased, would it be accepted as such? A governing body has to be comprised of members without an agenda. I'm not a "hater" merely poking fun at a veiled threat to abandon TSSAA and form their own association...just a practical observation that there is no chance to avoid division and dissention when each member is not only associated, but employed by a member school...put some real thought into it and try again.

Your right, it makes no sense for schools to govern themselves and actually do whats best for themselves and their student athletes. Instead let an organization such as the Tssaa govern you that doesn't care about whats best for you or what their member schools even want.   Maybe you should do some research or put real thought into it.  Check out how the Nfl owners operate and actually set the rules that they are governed by. If you have clear cut rules and policies in place you would be surprised how simple it is to operate and leave no room for hidden agendas. They could appoint or elect officials from each region that aren't tied to a school to form a disciplinary committee if needed. Doesn't the Tssaa kind of do that already? Mark my words, and I will make an open bet with you. If the Tssaa doesn't allow DII to have more of a voice in how their sports are ran many of the schools will leave the Tssaa. I would do it immediately, there is nothing to gain by them staying in the Tssaa. Im not even really talking about football but more so in the other sports. You must not be aware of the issues at hand.

  4. 113- D1 had a returning medalist this year one (springfield)didnt make the regional.

113 always has a million returning medalist. That doesn't mean they are that good or the weight is that tough. It simply means they were more than likely at 106 the previous year and were mostly all freshmen. Of course 113 will have a bunch of returning medalist. 106,113 are just age based tournaments no different than wrestling junior high for the most part

  5. Do you really think all the private schools will split? Who will govern them? Some may split eventually but I seriously doubt it happens sooner than a decade and even then it will not be every school. From a management standpoint an organization exactly like the TSSAA would have to be created. If thats the case then why split?

Ive had this conversation with a head master at arguably the best private school program in the state and he does not believe it will happen nor has he heard any movement to do so. This HM has been right about everything else the TSSAA has done for classification realignment.

There have been talks for the last few years among the upper echelon private schools. Im not sure who you are talking to or why hes telling you that but there have definitely been ideas tossed around. Ive heard this from 2 Ad's, and multiple head coaches in various sports at different schools. I don't think its been serious enough for them to sit down and make plan's but they have been discussing it for the last 4-5 years with more interest each year.

  6. So you think that you can separate from TSSAA, form your own organization, and not have a governing body apart from school association? Some of you guys crack me up.

You act like its something difficult to do or that it hasn't been done in other states. They would form a new league of their own. Lets call it Tennessee Private League for example.  They would then in turn appoint a representative from each school onto the board, more than likely the ad from each school and that is your governing body. Pretty simple stuff

  7. Brian, Here's what you are missing here. When you have tough matches, for 5 rounds, with any kid being able to beat any kid, it changes the tournament. You should know. You probably could have been a regional finalist and probably top 8 in the state under the current criteria. If it were one tournament (1) public and private, this years champ would have probably been Beech. Do the math....In the old days, if you had 3 kids place high.... you win. Do you think Ryan or Baylor would have had 3 kids place top three if it were one state? No way!

Do you think the state champs had tough matches in all 5 rounds? You honestly don't think Ryan and Baylor would have had 3 kids place in the top 3? They would have had that many champions each and probably more.

  8. I thought the call was absolutely correct. I spoke with two Chattanooga coaches who hated it for Russo and also a friend of Mr Russo's who said Mr Russo himself said he could agree with the slam call. Obviously nobody agreed with the coaches decision. also I agree with Karelin, Sells missed out as well as it would have been a good match.

  9. Mainly because only about 8-10 schools could afford the travel costs involved. That would also not take into account the lost classroom time. Most of those top schools are also top academic institutions. Sounds great in theory, but will never happen.  The travel involved with a total split just within the state will be enormous.

The privates will definitely split from the Tssaa in the near future. If all the schools mentioned above move to DII they have more than enough to form their own league and run it as they see fit. It would be even more of a benefit in some of the other sports. As far as making a super league with other states that would be costly for some and I cant see everyone agreeing to that but my gut feeling is they will definitely move from the Tssaa soon.

  10. I don't believe we are discussing previous years and to find those 2014 forums you are going to have to scroll back quite some ways.

I believe we are discussing the Bradley Tournament (hense the name of the forum). Where, in the finals, excluding out of state kids, D-1 won 5 bouts where D-2 won 2.

    Hmmmmm, that's funny

So you were saying D2 is for lesser teams to be able to compete in your previous statement ? Lol, we don't have to go back to the old forums to see Father Ryan smoked Bradley and Cleveland just last weekend . I hope D I won more matches today considering Father Ryan was the only D2 school there. Heck, I'm all for Bradley but you shouldn't post idiotic statements . Your going to

    Lose all credibility

  11. Boy, the arrogance and short memories of some of the people on this forum never ceases to amaze me!

In the past month, Father Ryan has SPANKED Cleveland, Bradley, and Wilson Central. This weekend, without even fielding a 170 and inserting not one, not two, but THREE JV wrestlers, the Irish easily snagged second.

D2 is the "lesser" division? The embarrassing smackdowns Ryan has laid on multiple "top" D1 programs already this year seems to suggest the opposite.

Surely he meant DI is the lesser division. Based on past history ( as in the last few weeks) how could he mean otherwise? Didn't Father Ryan run away this tournament last year? Cleveland has won everything in DI the last few years and I think are about 0-10 vs Baylor and Father Ryan in that time frame.

  12. Chatt is only 30 miles from Cleveland. The same bias that serves to promote Baylor exists also for Bradley and Cleveland. What other reason but "bias" would there have been to put Bradley and Baylor ahead of the Irish? It certainly wasn't by way of "logic" or "reason"

Bias?? Didn't Baylor beat Father Ryan in the Cleveland Duals and also the state duals the last 2 years in a row? It's a pre season ranking, they won the last head to head so it's very logical they were ranked ahead of Father Ryan. It's a pre season ranking anyway, who cares?
